[when the feed flips on, it focuses on a crate on the smaller side, but clearly yet another sponsor drop. Only this time, it appears to be full of brushes, of all shapes and colors and sizes. There's also a note attached on top:

"Because normal brushes are just infuriating. Keep that blue fur shiny with these purrfect alternatives!"

there's a heavy sigh from behind the camera and a mutter, just audible enough to be picked up by the microphone]

Someone thinks they're being funny.

[another sigh, and the camera turns around, focusing on a woman's face. Reluctantly, it seems, because she looks incredibly awkward and uncomfortable]

Anyway - I know some people have pets on the fleet, so if you'd like a brush for their fur, feel free to come over to the Blameless and pick one up. I certainly won't be keeping them.

[she goes to turn the feed off, then pauses]

Also, Winn? This is your fault. Get over here so I can blame you properly.

[and with that, the feed disconnects]

[And of course Loki catches the brush. He inspects it curiously, and tests the bristles with his thumb, completely unbothered.]

Do you have something a bit stiffer? My hair is rather more unruly than I think this brush can handle.

[He flips the brush idly in his hand.] I like your lady. She is fierce.

[beathach]

[he's only a tiny bit disappointed he did. He's embarrassed and a little annoyed, but that's about it]

I'm afraid they're all like that, more or less. You're welcome to try to find one that's stiffer.

[he gestures to the nearby sponsor drop, then huffs] She'll be touched you think so.

[complicatedliar]

[Loki still tosses the brush idly in his hand as he goes to examine the box and pick through them.]

I doubt that. Remind me again, what you lot call yourselves? You certainly smell of Midgard.

[beathach]

Mutants. [he huffs, rolling his eyes] That's rude. I don't comment on what you smell like.

[complicatedliar]

Mutants. Not humans. I don't know how I'm supposed to tell you apart, but I suppose I shall do my best. [He tests another brush.] It was much easier when I simply called all of you mortals, but Rogue found that terribly rude. Perhaps I shall switch to Midgardians.

[He smiles over his shoulder at Hank.] That's because you've no idea what I smell like.

[beathach]

No, we're humans, just - we carry a different gene, and that's what gives us our abilities. [dryly] There aren't that many of us, so I imagine it won't be that difficult. Midgardians is fine, but you'll get a lot of questions about it. And - yes, mortals is rude.

[squint . . . well fine if that's how you wanna be] My senses aren't as strong like this, but - you have a winter smell - like snow. And I can smell blood. [a look] And - apples?

[deadpanned] And of course, nothing like a human.

[complicatedliar]

Your lady might argue that point with you. I think I shall let you both hash it out and stick with Midgardians. I am content to ignore questions I find boring.

[There's a small hitch to his movement, a little tightening of his expression that's gone almost as soon as it appears at the mention of apples. He picks up another brush and examines it.] Good for you, Hank, you have correctly identified what the monster under the bed smells like.

[beathach]

Different people have different viewpoints. [he's heard a few interpretations] And I know you are. Midgardians sounds more interesting anyway.

[he tilts his head, but he pretends not to notice it. He isn't out to make Loki mad at him, as annoyed as he is. He was just proving a point.

He shrugs] It's one of my abilities, more or less. It sort of comes with the whole package.

[complicatedliar]

When one of the viewpoints wins out, do let me know. [And maybe he'll bother with it if he can stir himself to care. Or just use it as another way to pointedly annoy people.]

I'd assumed as much. So you at least do understand what I mean when I say humans all smell alike in a broad sense. [He's happy to let the topic drift more in that direction, yes.]

[beathach]

If that ever happens, sure. But I doubt it will. [he isn't even sure what Raven's particular viewpoint is, and he doesn't care to. They're mutants, and that's enough. Only people like him care about the particulars]

In a very broad sense, yes. I don't really smell it like this, but when I'm myself - [another shrug] Other scents usually overpower it.

[complicatedliar]

[Not his problem. You're all still mortals to him, even if he's playing nice and using language his girlfriend likes.]

Noses meant for different things.

[beathach]

Something like that. It doesn't come up all that often - [dryly] - since talking about scents with other people can come off as a little weird.

[complicatedliar]

[Dryly:] Probably because most humans have no sense of smell to speak of.

[It would be fair to note that it's not really common in Asgard, either--he's fairly certain his sense of smell is to be credited to his monstrous nature, which would make sense. But that's not something he's interested in talking about.]

[beathach]

Well - no, they have one, it just isn't as strong as yours or mine.
