[ There's a bit of movement as the feed comes on, and there's a flash of orange and a quiet 'meow' before Hermione actually gets the camera to focus on her - and she's smiling, a little shy but still there. She might have been used to making broadcasts in the Drabwurld, but things feel a little bit different here on the fleet - and a lot more public. ]

Hi. So, my name is Hermione Granger, for anyone that doesn't know, and I was hoping to start a sort of... Greenhouse, for all of us to use, for herbs and plants for the labs. I just wanted to see if anyone had anything that they wanted to grow there?

[ She stands up, moving to one side before she turns the feed, pointing it down at her desk where there's an odd assortment of seeds organised into little pots, all with neat labels and ordered into fewest to most, for those that care. There's a garden there already, but having one entirely dedicated to herbology might be useful. ]

I have a handful already, and I think I can handle setting things up with a bit of transfiguration, but if anyone had some ideas or wanted to help I'd be more than happy to listen. It won't be on the Vanquish, of course, but somewhere on the Iskaulit for anyone to use... Eventually. I'm not entirely sure how long this sort of thing might take to set up, honestly. I'm hoping to build a little potions room, too, if anyone's magical like me.

[ ... At least she has dirt, literally, from the planet? ]

Well, in my world, every witch has certain inherent powers, the things she's best at, and not every witch has the same powers or can do all the same things.

Okay, that's a bit different from my world. People might have different levels of ability or power, but we can all learn the same things. It's like any subject at school - there are things you're good at and things you're bad at.

[mistyday]

I remember. James said he went to a school... Pig-something. My academy taught us spells and potions and stuff too so there's some things we can all learn, but other things we can't.

I've got the powers of telekinesis, concilium, resurgence, and divination. I only know a few spells and potions though - I wasn't with Miss Cordelia long enough to learn much. Mostly I've had to teach myself.

Hogwarts. The same school I went to. [ Hermione nods her head, considering for a moment; she wants to actually build some kind of lesson plan, but...

She does her best not to wrinkle her nose at divination. She's learned better. ]

Then how about you show me some of what you can do and I'll see what I can teach you?

[mistyday]

Well... Ain't anyone to bring back from the dead and divination ain't like... palm reading or lookin' in a crystal globe or anything, it just comes when the time is right, so those I can't show you but Obi-Wan's been helpin' me with my telekinesis!

Then we can start with telekinesis, if you'd like? Then I'll show you a little bit of what I know.

[ Bringing people back from the dead... That's terrifying. ]

[Promise, not as terrifying as it sounds.]

Okay!

[She looks around the empty room.]

Got something you want me to move?

[brainiest]

Hmm... Okay, how about...

[ She moves forward, peeking her head out the door before she flicks her wand. ]

Accio dictionary.

[ And, thank you library, a dictionary comes through the air and Hermione reaches out to grab it. ]

Will this work?

[mistyday]

[Whoa! That was cool! Misty is very clearly impressed.]

Yeah, that'll do just fine.

[She concentrates on the dictionary for a moment, her hand hovering in front of her, pointed at the book. After a few seconds, the book rises, out of Hermione's hands, before zooming across the room to land neatly on a piece of pipe near the ceiling.]

[ Hermione watches, and her eyes widen before she turns her head to look over sharply, beaming. ]

That's incredible! That's wandless and non-verbal magic - it's really, really advanced for people from my world.

[mistyday]

Really? It took me a long time to even get to this point -- probably wouldn't have gotten this far without Obi-Wan.

[brainiest]

Really. Our magic must be different - or, maybe, it's taken you a while because having a wand might be easier for you.

[mistyday]

I ain't ever heard of any witch usin' a wand - until I met James and Remus that is.

[brainiest]

I wish I had one to let you use - I'd offer mine, but it might not take it very well. [ She purses her lips, considering. ] Maybe we can find one on a planet somewhere.

[mistyday]

You think anyone in this universe would have something like that?

[brainiest]

I don't see why they wouldn't. There are swords, and knives, and daggers. Wands can be just another weapon.

[mistyday]

[She still looks doubtful.]

How do we know it'll even work for me, if we do find one?

[brainiest]

We don't, I suppose, but isn't it worth a try?

[mistyday]

I guess so...

[She looks thoughtfully up at the dictionary before bringing it gently back to the ground.]

I just don't want to do the wrong thing again.

[brainiest]

It's alright. You can just blame me if something goes wrong.

[ And, considering the scarring on Hermione's face... It wouldn't be the first time. ]

[mistyday]

Ain't about blame, it's...

[She frowns.]

Do y'all have the Seven Wonders in your world? I mean the magic kind, not like the pyramids and stuff.

[brainiest]

Not really? Seven is a magical number, absolutely, but there's nothing like Wonders, as far as I know.

[mistyday]

It's seven gifts: telekinesis, divination, concilium, vitalum vitalis, transmutation, pyrokinesis, and... descensum. Only the Supreme, our leader, can do all of them.

[Misty pauses. This is not an easy thing to discuss, but Hermione's a witch too, so that makes it a little better, even if they're not the same kind of witch. Still, she drops her gaze as she finishes explaining, her voice shaking a little.]

Descensum is the worst and the hardest. You have to go to Hell and back and I... I couldn't do it.

[She starts tearing up.]

I couldn't get back and I shouldn't have done it in the first place.

[brainiest]

[ Hermione swallows, shifting a little, and before anything else she steps over and reaches for Misty's hand, taking it into her own and squeezing gently. ]

That's not the kind of thing anyone should have to do. Ever.

[ And she feels a swell of rage at the idea of anyone being forced to literally go to hell in order to learn or gain power, no matter what it is. It makes her feel sick. ]

I'm sorry that it happened you.

[mistyday]

[Misty squeezes her hand back, grateful.]

And that's why I don't want to go back, ever. I don't have a home to return to.
