As I have said I would, I shall speak of magics. Or rather the basics of one particular form of magic. Attend well.

[Loki has set up the video in his gym, since it has sufficient space and mirrors.]

What mortals oft times call magic is but science of a higher sort than they have capacity to comprehend. All is but working change upon the ordered laws of the universe with strength of will and an understanding of how and what to manipulate.

Light shall be our example. [Because everyone already knows he can do illusions. This is giving nothing away, really, because knowing the mechanics of what he does won't make it less impressive.]

Light is a substance in constant flux of state. It exists simultaneously in many forms until it is directed one way or another.

[He begins to write equations in the air with light, his handwriting precise and very angular, explaining as he goes. People who are very up in their mathematics and quantum physics will be able to recognize portions describing the wave-particle duality of light, though Loki seems to be describing a great many quantum states beyond that.]

Understanding this, one might manipulate the light that exists in this room to reflect far differently, or refract in new ways.

[He goes through a series of demonstrations, first building a delicate model of a horse from light that runs, then revealing an invisible object and describing mathematically the illusion that allows light to seem to pass through something solid. Then step by step, he builds the room into a section of forest in Alfheim, which seems to stretch on into the misty distance despite the apparent dimensions of the former room.

It's quite a show, but perhaps more interesting is his expression as he works through all of this. He's genuinely enjoying himself, perhaps the most relaxed most people have ever seen him.]

And the mechanism of all of this?

[He smiles remembering the day he had been taught this by Frigga.] We are made of the same stuff as light. We must only remember and become part of it once more.

[And with that, he seems to disintegrate into green and gold miss. The video ends.

But he's around his place in the Iskaulit if anyone wishes to seek him out, or can be called upon for questions. And later? Buy him a drink at Crowley's bar.]

What do you mean by that? Does this place kill people?

[ He's heard about the glitching, people losing their minds, or remembering new things. But not the part about keeping people alive. ]

[He laughs.] Not thus far. No, I mean that I am dead in my home universe. Run through with a spear on Svartalfheim. Very unpleasant.

So they really do bring people in from different times..

[ That's.. honestly really troubling. These Atroma bring people who have died into the fleet. To... what? Punish them? Give them a second chance? There are a thousand possibilities. ]

But you are here, and look to be in perfect health. They have done you a favor?

Oh yes. I know I come from a quite different time than anyone else of my world.

[He see-saws a hand back and forth.]

I do enjoy being alive, considering the alternative. But I find myself ungrateful for being alive in a cage. It suits me not. Though this cage is far more pleasant than the last two in which I've found myself.

A cage is still a cage, no matter the shape of the bars.

[ He really feels you on the imprisonment aspect. At the very least, he has his sister with him. ]

You were imprisoned twice before? Shadow, do you have a misbehaving streak?

I feel insulted that you would ask. I am the soul of probity.

[He grins briefly.]

Directly before this, I was in a place called Luceti, which had some... similar qualities to this: the abduction, the casual violation of one's body. Though thus far, this place has been... rather more circumspect about things. I cannot say I miss that village, though I have a few friends that I might wish were still not there.

I am most certain you are more interesting than that.

[ Pietro flashes him a smile, tilting his head. ]

There are more places like this? Well, if pulling people from different worlds is this easy, I suppose it's foolish not to think that there are multiple. How long were you in this Luceti? Did time pass at all, or was it much the same as this place?

I'm the most boring man in the fleet. It's sad, really. [He likes teasing people just to see how far he can push them, after all.]

Multiple places, yes. I've heard several more mentioned here and there. [He toys with his glass.] I was there for three years. It was much the same as this place. I came to Luceti when I was alive, then returned to my home for a time. And came back to Luceti when I was dead.

If you were boring, I would have left by now. I'm not at all patient.

[ He sips at his wine, watching Loki over the rim. Three years trapped some place, only to go home and die and be sent back? God.. ]

So you're stuck here. When you get sent back, you're nothing.. [ That's not any sort of way ] Hopefully it's not too bad here. It would be a shame to be stuck somewhere completely terrible. Prison aside.

Perhaps it is my charming disposition that makes up the difference.

[You're cute. He'll kill you last.]

In a word: yes. I might want escape as much as the next person, but I certainly do not wish to return home. [He considers the good and bad, one hand coming up to rub his lips for a moment.] It could be much, much worse.

It's a possibility, but I'm still not sure. We may need a few more drinks before I come to the conclusion.

[ Aw yay, the bottom of the kill list. :') He is pretty cute. ]

At the very least, our cells are not four walls with no means of escape? What sort of place did you come from before Luceti?

I wager that as we drink, I shall become more charming and you shall become better looking.

[Loki has a weakness for cute men who will flirt with him, really.]

Asgard. The realm eternal. [Sigh.] Nothing ever changes there.

Oh-ho, so there is more charm hiding underneath? I didn't think it was possible.

[ Better looking? Really Loki? He's a catch. ]

Asgard.. [ Something about that seems familiar, though he can't place why. ] It must be very boring if nothing ever changes.

I'm afraid I must inform you that it is charm all the way down.

[Loki is saving a bit of regret for the fact that he's allowed to look only. Well, and flirt. That's really how he communicates when he's not stabbing things.]

You have grasped the problem with laudable speed. Same parties, same people thumping each other on the back with fists the size of hams, same ghastly songs about murdering trolls and drinking.

That, dear Shadow, you will have to prove!

This atmosphere is not ideal for everyone. I imagine these people enjoy the thrill of conquest and live for fighting? What is the point if it is every day? It must be tiresome. Luckily there isn't so much of that here?

On the contrary, you shall have to investigate. [Because he's really not out to prove anything to anyone. That would require giving a shit.]

Precisely. I was a more scholarly sort. I didn't get on well. [He shrugs.] Here, the threat is a more elemental sort of boredom. But at least the reading material is of better variety.

As you've noticed, I'm a very quick learner.

[ Investigating could be cake. Or Loki could make it difficult. Either way, it's bound to be fun. He's already proven himself to be excellent company. ]

I've been told there is plenty to do, though I have yet to go looking for other things.

It is part of your charm.

That would depend upon your standard of things to do. There are certainly worlds to be explored, if at the whim of our captors. But the stakes of any game to be found are quite low.

[ Pietro grins widely at Loki. ]

Most people do not feel this way about my speed. Of course my speed here is nothing compared to what it is at home.

[ It makes him absolutely fuming mad. ]

There are quite a few things here that I do not get the opportunity to do outside of this place. I do not remember the last time I was able to pick up a book. I suppose I could do that to learn more about this 'augment'.

[His lips quirk.] I think that would depend on if you are so quick about everything.

[What do you want from him, man. But he'll just leave that there and continue on:] A shame to have one's power limited. Here has been much better than Luceti for me, in that regard. I merely cannot harm the ships themselves.

There are a few excellent books of poetry I would commend to you as well.

Your skills are still quite impressive, however dampened. What other sort of skills do you have hiding up your sleeves?

[ More out of curiosity, because if the man can up and disappear, he's bound do have some really awesome abilities. Pietro definitely wants to see, if Loki is willing to share. ]

I haven't read much poetry. Maybe when I was younger. I would like to try again.

I'm an excellent dancer. [And very good at murdering people. But no need to mention that in polite conversation.]

There's a book by a human named TS Eliot that I like. Or perhaps if you ask nicely, some day I shall write out what I remember for you.

[ Pietro laughs heartily, taking another drink of wine once it passes. ]

There is that comedic timing, again. It's good one of us knows how to dance, there may be a situation where it is called for.

[ Wow, Shadow. That's incredibly thoughtful of you. ] I shall keep that in mind and save it for a special occasion.

You don't know how to dance? Now that is a shame. You've the legs for it.

[Yes, he's been checking out your legs. So what. He's a god. He can do what he wants.]

And then we shall see how nicely you can ask.

Well, I have plenty of time to learn here, don't I?

[ He polishes off his wine, sliding the glass toward the bartender. ]
