[He's getting used to this and his crew mates have been more than helpful in assisting him with this new technology so the video is steady as he smiles, inclining his head as the rubies in his headdress reflecting the light around him brightly.]

Now that I've had the opportunity to acquaint myself with my new surroundings I believed it was time to greet those of you I don't share a ship with.

I am Finwë and it is a pleasure to join you all here among the stars. [No title, he assumes he forfeited that upon his death anyway.]

It seems I have been assigned the role of personnel support on my ship but any in need of a sympathetic ear or company are always welcome to come to me on the Tourist at any time.

Perhaps I could convince my grandson here to cook some treats for me to have on hand for any visitors, he always makes the best cakes.

You cannot promise that. [ He shakes his head, remembering his father's hand and his father's words ]

We are all subject to the whims of our captors. But I... I missed you.

You know I will do anything for you, Canafinwe. I just want you to smile again.

[He hugged his grandson a little tighter at those words, eyes squeezed shut for a moment.]

Has it been that long of a time?

[ A pause as Maglor tries to work out how much his grandfather already knows ]

It has been a while....

How long?

[He didn't want to ask but he had to. He couldn't live in the dark while his grandchildren suffered as Canafinwe clearly was.]

[ Maglor bites his lip and answers slowly ]

It... for me, it is now the end of the Third Age of the Sun. Some... six thousand or more years of the sun now, I think.

Sun? What of the Trees? [Morgoth. Maglor didn't have to say it but Finwe suddenly felt a bit in the bottom of his stomach.]

What happened, Canafinwe?

Gone. [ He whispers softly, the memory of the consuming dark in his eyes ]

They say Laurelin's last fruit formed the sun, and Telperion's last flower the moon.

[ So very softly ]

We............attacked the Havens. Canafinwe is dead, grandfather. He died in Alqualonde. Only Maglor remains.

They're truly gone then. [He slowly let go of Maglor and for a moment he couldn't breath. He couldn't blame everything on Morgoth, he knew his eldest son. He knew of Feanor's violent temper.]

Maglor...is that what you wish to be called now? [His voice was quiet, full of pain. He didn't blame him though, not for wanting to distance himself from the past.]

What happened at Alqualonde. I will not force you to tell me anything but I feel as if I have to know, even if the grief will hurt.

[ He hates to see his family hurt, and although he does not move, he does withdraw, pulling in on himself in shame ]

Yes. I... will answer to any name my grandfather gives me. But Canafinwe died when he killed his wife in Alqualonde.

[He couldn't imagine his once happy little grandson raising a weapon against anyone, let alone his own life. He couldn't bring himself to shove Maglor away though, if he had truly been driven to such lengths then Finwe should have been there to stop things.]

Maglor- no matter what you call yourself you are still my grandson.

I... am only a ghost. Just... a memory. I am sorry we disappointed you, grandfather. We could not even avenge you, at the last.

No! [Finwe's voice was firm, leaning forward with concern.]

I know you did it out of love but you didn't fail. I don't want to be avenged, I want my family safe and happy more than anything else.

[ He almost flinches from Finwe's approach, holding still only at the last moment, reminding himself that he does not have anything to fear from his grandfather ]

We did. We failed when we swore the Oath that would lead to our downfall. I am sorry, Grandfather.

All is forgiven. There is one thing you can do for me though. [He said seriously as he took his grandson's hands in his gently.]

And that is to live now.

[ Maglor lets his grandfather take his hands, and thanks anyone listening that he remembered to put gloves on so Finwe cannot feel the scars ]

I will try, grandfather.

Thank you, Maglor. [The scars worry him but he's not as shocked as he was when he first saw Maedhros.]

Your brother and cousins are happy here- it seems it's done them good.

[ So long as Finwe never sees them, Maglor hopes, he will not ask why or how ]

Mm, I... am ... glad to see them... well.

They are happy to have you as well. [Finwe kissed Maglor's forehead gently.]

Is there anything I can do for you, grandson?

[ Maglor looks doubtful at that but nods agreeably ]

I suppose....

[ He shakes his head and then nods ]

No just... stay for a while?

I'm not going anywhere.

[He promised a he stroked his grandson's hair gently. He hadn't been able to protect his children or grandchildren then but he would do so now with every fiber of his being.

That is enough.

[ He curls close, leaning against his grandfather and listening to his heart beat ]

Just for a while.

You don't have to ask if you need this. You shouldn't hesitate to come to me.

[ he leans against his grandfather and only hums noncommittally.

In many ways, he doesn't really believe they will not leave him.

But he doesn't want to say anything and upset Finwe, so he only stays silent and curls close, determined to enjoy what time he has ]
