[Kitty was not expecting a surprise birthday party because while it is the date of her birth, her last birthday was about seven months ago because abductions that can happen from any time make things weird. And then there's also the part where Winn got attacked by Sascha and she and Winn had their first significant fight and things have been on the rough side. Of course, with people like Winn and Pinkie Pie in her life she really should have known better.

So, here we are on The Tourist with dancing in the cargo hold. Winn's phone is playing mustic amplified by Cisco's speakers. There are snacks, beverages, and cake in the kitchen. With Pinkie Pie helping out and some of the stores of food they built up from the time on the hand holding planet you can expect better-than-spacefood quality. And if you need more privacy, Winn opened his room up, but he did include a sign that says no making out complete with a disappointed frowny face, so you would never! Probably.

Enjoy the party! Kitty is turning 20 years and 7 months today? Yeah, there may be another birthday party for her coming up. She's probably doomed to have two per year. Of course you have to get gifts for both!]

Wanda, hi! [She smiles, glad to see her. Mutants and people who were supposed to be mutants have to stick together! ...At parties.]

[Wanda smiles and nods. She then reveals a gift she'd been holding behind her back. The box is rather crudely wrapped, as Wanda did not have a whole lot of time between the party invitation and the actual start time. Also, the fleet was kind of lacking in proper gift wrap. Inside the box, Kitty will find a lightly beat-up, metal pail with some tissue paper stuffed into it. While certainly an odd gift, if Kitty recalls her first meeting with Wanda, she might get it. Wanda watches for Kitty's reaction, looking rather amused with herself.]

Oh, wow, thank you. [Unwrapping it as she speaks.] You didn't have to... [And then laughing.] It's perfect.

[Wanda smiles, happy to have made Kitty laugh with her little in-joke. But it's not over yet.]

Look inside the pail.

[In the gift wrap, stuffed into the pail Kitty will find a red silk scarf. The real gift Wanda had fixed for her.]

Oh, there's more. [Smiling as she reaches inside.] It's pretty. [And Wanda's signature color.] Thank you.

[Wanda's smile grows even wider when she sees that Kitty likes the scarf. It was one that Wanda had picked up for herself, but scarves had never really been her thing... so, she never ended up wearing it, and thus it seemed the perfect gift for Kitty.]

Admittedly, I was a little rushed to come up with something once I received an invite. So I'm glad you like it.

Maybe they wanted the surprise part of the party to be for everyone. [She's not sure what went into the planning and inviting. After everything Winn had been through lately this was really the last thing she was expecting, but it's a nice departure from the way things have been. It's good to see people and to be enjoying herself.] Hard to find things between planets too. But thanks, it's great.

[Wanda nods and smiles, happy to see that she was able to pick out a good gift for Kitty. Her tone then takes on a more playful tone.]

So, how old are you now?

Still twenty? [Yeah, it's weird.] The last place I was at didn't have regular days. They were just counting up from one when the prison opened, so I counted how many days away from my birthday I was and then turned twenty not long before Drift picked me up so it's been about six months since then. But this is also the date I was born on. Winn is probably going to throw me another birthday when we get a year out. I think he's trying to age me up because he feels weird that he's nine years older.

[Well, that was a lot to follow all at once. Wanda takes a second to process. Her mind latching on to one particular key bit.]

Did you say "prison?"

[She then realizes this might not be the time or place, shaking her head dismissively.]

Sorry, that's not really appropriate birthday conversation.

[She tries to redirect things back towards birthday-related things.]

So if you're 20 again... how many times have you been 20?

No, it's fine. [She's so used to saying it she forgets it can be a starling thing to hear.] The prison was a place like this that was gathering random people from the multiverse. Except instead of ships in space it was a city under a dome underwater. AI wardens instead of alien overlords. Instead of augment glitches they would just have prison-wide days where you might wake up as a bunny or a child or think you're married to someone you aren't married to. Bad times and good times. Not your usual kind of prison. [She smiles. See? It's fine. Prison was the good portion of her life. Easier than home.]

Just the ones. I'm only seven months into it even if this is the date of my birthday. Time gets confusing when you're being abducted by places that can pull you from any timeline.

I see. It seems there are more and more places like this that exist out there.

[Wanda looks troubled. She really doesn't know how she feels about this.]

So many places that seem to be able to just take people away against their will... they each seem to have their similarities to the others, too. At least, in some way.

In the prison I only knew about one other person who had been to something like this previously but here it's a lot. I'm almost surprised when someone hasn't been abducted before. This is Charles and Erik's third time.

Erik told me. I did not it was Charles' third time, as well.

[A small up-tick of a smile at the corner of her mouth.]

I suppose that makes me a rarity then. This being my first "abduction."

I could be mistaken about Charles too, but the point is that it can happen more than once.

Congratulations? [Smiling]

[And Kitty's "congratulations" causes Wanda to crack and giggle some.]
