Kitty's birthday : Mingle!

Who: Kitty's friends, anyone Pinkie or Winn would have invited, people who would be on the ship anyway, party crashers, etc. They probably tried to keep it small and then failed hard. Feel free to assume you heard about it.

[Kitty was not expecting a surprise birthday party because while it is the date of her birth, her last birthday was about seven months ago because abductions that can happen from any time make things weird. And then there's also the part where Winn got attacked by Sascha and she and Winn had their first significant fight and things have been on the rough side. Of course, with people like Winn and Pinkie Pie in her life she really should have known better.

So, here we are on The Tourist with dancing in the cargo hold. Winn's phone is playing mustic amplified by Cisco's speakers. There are snacks, beverages, and cake in the kitchen. With Pinkie Pie helping out and some of the stores of food they built up from the time on the hand holding planet you can expect better-than-spacefood quality. And if you need more privacy, Winn opened his room up, but he did include a sign that says no making out complete with a disappointed frowny face, so you would never! Probably.

Enjoy the party! Kitty is turning 20 years and 7 months today? Yeah, there may be another birthday party for her coming up. She's probably doomed to have two per year. Of course you have to get gifts for both!]

[ he pushes a strand of her hair back, waiting for her to decide where to take this conversation to now. ]

So, I guess if you might want to try it with me sometime then I'll hold on to it and if you don't I'll give it back?

I'm...naturally paranoid. I don't think it's a good idea for me.

[ as tempting as an escape sounds like, he'll stick to finding his in a familiar bottle. he's had too many things go wrong lately, it doesn't feel like the time to be experimenting and besides - he's never really felt an attraction to that kind of escapism. his mind is his asset, he wants to protect it. ]

Yeah. [She kisses him.] It's a good thing I wanted to be with a smartie. [Reid had an addiction problem. Don't be like Reid!]

[ he actively tries to avoid it. you can tell by his wardrobe.

he smiles into the kiss. ]

So what else d'you get?

Too much. I'm starting to think people like me. It will go straight to my head. Mmm, a cook book, a personalized song from a pony, a bucket which makes more sense of you know the story, a little wooden cat, and I think I saw more people with more boxes so we'll see.

[ shaking his head fondly. good. this is the feeling he wanted her to get out of today. ] I think I need to hear the bucket story. And that song, if it's recorded -

When I met Wanda I was reaching through a store window on the moon to phase through a metal bucket they were selling so I could test the density of the metal. See if it was worth making into claws. And she saw me and then she picked it up with her mental abilities. So there was power bonding.

[ couldn't he have been born in september? dammit. ]

[She smiles warmly at him. It's good to see him like this. Out among people. Relaxed more or less. He seems good. Sometimes he is trying really hard to seem good but she thinks he actually might be a little bit?]

[ he is, a little bit. doom and gloom has never suited him, even when it's warranted. he doesn't want to be sitting cooped up in his room, wallowing in misery. yeah, he's far from alright, and he does need to make regular trips to the bathroom or his room or kara's office to unwind and catch his breath, but right at this second, he's not doing bad. ]

[Kissing him again.] I'm going to go greet the new guests but I am reserving more of your dances. And I look forward to parts two [Another kiss] and three.

[ he's relieved when the party finally winds down. as good as it was for kitty, jumping at every noise and watching out for every person in the room is kind of exhausting in a party full of people. he cleans up the cargo hold and the kitchen because it's his responsibility, before turning to get his things back from kara's office to his room. he makes a pile of the notes he likes to keep in his bedroom, and carefully lays cali on top, and pixels on his shoulder, trying to carry everything back in one go.

he's pretty tired by now. he doesn't feel like making round trips. ]

[There was some drinking so she is buzzed and when party goers go, she goes in search of Winn.] Booooyfriend? Where did my booooyfriend go?

Not faar -

[ comes the sing-song reply from kara's office. it warms his heart, seeing her so happy. ]

Give me a hand taking these back?

Kiss first. Carrying second. [She leans in.]

[ he meets her half way and kisses her gently. ]

Nice doing business with you.

[ he hands her half the pile ]

Did you have a good time?

I did. You're consistently too good to me. [Holding up her pile portion.] What about you? This was a lot.

Ain't no such thing.

[ he kisses her cheek and smiles tiredly. ]

I'm okay. [ he reassures her, and nodding towards the slug making its way slowly to snuggle up in the crook of his neck. ]

Pixels' better than Xanax. I think...never actually tried it but - I'm good with him.

[ ever sense everything went to crap, he's been finding himself feeling more and more grateful for cisco's present. who knew a slug could improve his quality of life that much? ]

I'm glad you have him. And I'm glad I have you. And tomorrow we can lay in bed and be lazy? [Which they've done a lot of, but it sounds better right now. And she figures he could use the quiet even if he does have Pixel.]

mmmhm - it's a date.

[ he walks back to his room and dumps his notes on the floor for now, only putting cali away on her shelf - and pixels in his container so he doesn't get squashed when step 3 inevitably happens.

sitting down on his bed, he stretches out. ]

So. Is my gift still the best?

No one can touch it. [She's wearing the jersey now, but that's not all the gift she's thinking of. It's also the party and just him in her life.]

Is part two going to make me cry? [Cuddling up next to him.]

[ he wraps an arm around her, rubbing her shoulder ]

Probably. If you think about it -- you already know what it is.

I have been thinking. But I think the drinks I had might be thinking too loudly for me to think over them. Rude, rude drinks.

[ he laughs and kisses her cheek. ]

Don't move.

[ he stands up and unlocks his locker, taking out a small blue jewelry box, before sitting back down at her side.

sitting back down, he offers her the box. inside, she'll find a wooden heart shaped locket he carved himself, on a sturdy black strap, containing the scanned and cropped faces of her parents from the picture she was given by the tree. ]
