009 [Video]

Who: Sokka and YOU!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Deep in Savvy territory - in every sense of the word.
When: Today!

[If there's one thing that can be said about Sokka, is that when he decides to put his all into something, he really goes for it. He'd originally headed to Savvy to try and take his mind off Beverly. That there's still been no sign of her. Not even a whisper.

Turns out Savvy was really good for taking his mind off it. The Savvy people were his people. The weird tendency he has for thinking so far out of the box that he was in a different planet than the box is something that's cherished here. And Sokka really does love being appreciated.

He hasn't forsaken the usual Water Tribe Blue he wears, though he has accented his outfit with a green bandanna and belt. The people seem to forgive his spirit-esque faux-pas with his outfit for his endless offerings of actually-useful inventions and animal traps. He's grinning at the video from where he's sitting in one of the workshops. He's working on something that looks very explosive.

You can tell because it has "warning: explosive" stamped on the side of it.
]

Guys, have you checked out the Savvy guys yet? Everyone here is amazing! I mean, aside from the green, and the lack of water, they would absolutely be Water Tribe people.

[He grins and waves a hand at the explodey thing.]

They even let me work in their workshops all the time! These people. [He lets out a fond sniffle] They're my people.

Also the best, so Spirit and and Moxxy can go suck on a penguinotter.

And it's only one person's job to do all that? Sounds like a bit much.

[He had a hard enough time with one city on the mortal side of things, he can't even imagine being responsible for the entire Veil.]

Every hero like that needs a group behind him, I'd wager. Or her. It's like that back home too. We've got the Hero of Ferelden with her band of misfits that took down an archdemon and ended a Blight, and there's the Inquisitor with his inner circle. Hell, even I have my group of idiots back home. Or, well, I did.

[He kicks a rock off to the side, Drools looking up from his sniffing the ground to stare at said rock with rapt attention until it settles a few yards away, then goes right back to sniffing.]

I mean, people have their own lives to live, and sometimes that means separating.

[That was the worst. His surviving friends, all uneasy about him for his decision to let Anders live. Aveline hadn't said anything about it, just telling them to keep safe and asking him if he was sure he knew what he was doing before he disappeared past Sundermount with Merrill and Varric. Carver had been far more verbal, looking at Anders like he was a Blight unto himself and trying to get Hawke to take an extra dagger or five 'just in case'. It would have been sweet if it wasn't in regards to the person he'd chosen to spend his life with. He'd taken one anyway, a small one for his boot; a fugitive can't be too careful.

Varric was uncharacteristically quiet for days. Wolfe thought he would have complained about the road, about the sun, about the dirt, about everything. He was as silent as Anders that first while, but they both loosened up after Hawke had spoken to Anders - finally, after being unable to for days. But it was an awkward sort of banter, any laughter short-lived and hollow. Too much baggage. Varric left them before they got too far north, saying he needed to get back to Kirkwall, needed to publish the finally finished 'Tale of the Champion' and all his contacts were there. If they were still alive, anyway. That was a particularly terrible blow to Hawke, who'd been relying on Varric as a sort of solid bosom companion who didn't push. He could just say whatever he wanted and Varric would nod and help to make the joke.

What was worse was Merrill went with him. She said the Alienage needed someone to look out for them, someone to make sure they wouldn't be taken advantage of as the city rebuilt. Wolfe had wished her well and told her to look after Varric, and he was glad they wouldn't be traveling back alone, but even with Anders still by his side, Wolfe hadn't felt that alone in a very long time.]

It's just not the same in letters.

It must be frustrating then, being stuck here and not able to check on it.

[He can sympathize, even if he's secretly glad to just have a break from Thedas. No one ever gets that chance. Even in becoming a hermit there's still the possibility of someone finding you and dragging you back into the world. They hadn't quite been hermits in that little village in Orlais, but Varric's letter still did the same. All he had to do was mention Corypheus and Hawke knew he was going to have to wade back in.

But here he physically can't and while that's frustrating to his sense of responsibility and his care for his home, it's a welcome relief to just be able to live and not be the Champion of Kirkwall the Seekers of Truth were looking for. He's just Adalwolfe Hawke and it's a nice change.]

Some things you just want to see with your own eyes.

[He's about to say something else, but Drools barks suddenly and takes off like a shot across the open plain on which they find themselves towards a small copse of trees in the distance.]

Looks like he found something. Shall we?
wolfehawke: (look aside)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-09-27 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Wolfe gives chase, presumably with Sokka right behind him. He slows before the shade of the trees though, crouching suddenly as he notices Drools down in the dirt, ears alert and nose trained in the direction of a small group of four tallbirds. They're at a watering hole, dipping their long necks down and then swinging them back up with beaks skyward to swallow whatever bottom-feeding things they eat.

Wolfe pats Drools' head by way of telling him good job and motions to the birds silently, looking at Sokka to see how he wants to play it.]
wolfehawke: (cheeky)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-09-28 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Wolfe nods and keeps low in the grass, doing an awkward crouched walk and holding his staff horizontally at his side so it doesn't scrape the ground. Drools crawls on his belly beside him, surprisingly silent for his size.

They circle around, Wolfe getting to a good vantage point, then waiting for Sokka's signal, frost starting to form around his fingers. If there's something he's good at when it comes to hunting, its penning in the prey.]
wolfehawke: (Much Angry)

[Closer... closer...]

Now!

[At the command, Drools takes off like a shot to nip at the birds at the back of the pack while Adalwolfe spins his staff in a quick motion that ends with the empty dragon's mouth pointing towards the space in front of the herd. Magic spills from the weapon, coalescing into a swath of ice forming a wall roughly six feet tall and effectively blocking the birds' retreat. There's a sudden commotion as they all try to stop, two near the front going too fast to slow down in time and slamming into a sheer structure with a pair of dull thuds. The birds that still have their wits mill about in a squawking cluster, working out a way out of the trap. Of course, they have a boomerang and a snarling dog to contend with.]
wolfehawke: (You're kidding)

gonna jump ahead a little

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-10-05 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
[In the aftermath, they've taken out the majority of the flock. One or two slipped away, adolescents with some fluffy down that can still go on and start their own groups, but the rest lie dormant on the ground with snapped necks, both Drools and Adalwolfe making their way through to make sure the grisly work is finished. But grisly or no, a guy's gotta eat.]

We should have brought a cart for all these.
wolfehawke: (zoinks)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-10-08 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, does that beaming thing have anything to do with communications? It seems more like engineering. I could call up though...

[He fiddles with his communicator for a moment, connecting up to the First Breath's interface remotely and seeing if he can't figure out how to get them transported.

Apparently he can, which they would discover quite jarringly when they're suddenly beamed right aboard the aforementioned ship with all the dead birds laying around on the platform. Ser Drools loses his mind for a second, running around the room at full tilt and then stopping and barking in all four directions. For his part, Adalwolfe looks fairly queasy. He really hadn't meant to transport them right then.]

That... works...
wolfehawke: (Pouty)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-10-10 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Fifty-fifty.

[Urk. For a moment Wolfe is worried he may need to find a corner to lose his lunch in but the feeling soon passes.]

I'm just going to try and plan better next time. Bleh.
wolfehawke: (pull the other one)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-10-10 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, very funny.

[Only not.]

Either way it's here now, at least. There's containers if you want to grab your share.

[Adalwolfe rubs his chin, recovering a bit better as time passes. Drools finally settles down and starts attempting to drag one of the birds off for his reward.]

We make a rather good team.
wolfehawke: (You're kidding)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-10-10 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think bindles would be enough for all this.

[He snorts in amusement, getting back up to help Sokka divvy up their kill, using the bladed end of his staff to sever limbs and necks, making things more easily movable.]

I hope the freezers on the ships can hold everything. Not all of this is going to keep otherwise.
wolfehawke: (Well I'll Be)

Ooh, jerky!

[Sokka you are a man after his own heart.]

Do you ever put spices on it while its drying? I love when it gets that smokey peppery flavor.

[So much for feeling queasy. Now he's hungry.]
