Ow, for futz sake -- [ the feed is shaky, at first -- as though the device and its owner has just fallen from some middling height. but it soon settles steady on an image of kate bishop -- bruised, dirty, but ultimately fine. although she's stubbornly wearing purples more often alligned with the spirit faction, she has alligned herself quite naturally with moxie -- deigning to at least braid white and gold ribbons into her black hair. sitting up on the poorly terra-formed ground, the feed reveals she's dressed in a superbly tailored hawkeye costume made from strong fabrics and flattering lines.

over her shoulder looms lavandula's tower. the intrepid young avenger followed the trills of a mysterious and now finds she herself thoroughtly defeated by the tower's bizarre internal architecture. this isn't the first time she's taken a tumble.

grumpily: ] This place is worse than a funhouse. [ ... ] Paging any and all Fleet folk -- anyone manage to track down this freaky-deaky flute music on Lavandula? All I'm finding are doors shut in my face. Not loving it.

[ LATER, she's back at the rehabilitation centre. she pays her modest fee and gets herself patched up -- bandages and all. so, once she takes a shuttle back to the iskaulit and shows up for work at málum, she's still looking a little worse for wear. take pity on her, málum patrons, because her usual bartender flair is suddenly subdued: she's got one arm in a sling. she'll still serve you, though. and with a smile! ...probably. ]

[ she likes trying to solve a problem with her own muscle and sinew before she rings tech-support. it's a whole thing. ]

I'm okay. Honest. I've been worse after field-hockey matches. Y'know, when I still bothered to play.

I feel like that's more of a testament to how you play field hockey.

[ but he's not really fretting like he would have before winter and sascha and all these comas. maybe he's starting to toughen up. you know, just a little. ]

How's the suit working out for you? It's looking good.

Not a scratch or a pull. [ she pulls the device back far, and holds it above so it displays a tight angle image of as much of the outfit as possible. ] It's come through this in better shape than me. So I guess you do some pretty good work, Mister Schott.

I do pretty great work. [ he nods ] Though the way you use it, it could do with some airbags.

They'd mess with the silhouette, [ she teases. ]

Think how confusing it'd be - if anyone saw you coming, they'd have no idea what's coming.

[ much better. she likes it when he smiles. ]

If only gracelessly falling on your enemies was a valid combat tactic.

[ she should be feeling very proud of herself, genuine smiles have been in short supply on his face. ]

[ nodding, before shaking his head with an awkward little smile. ]

Less roped and more -- born into it. [ even his fashion choices are spirit. ]

That gung-ho about it, huh? [ again, that lop-sided smile that straddles the line between playful and serious. ] I kept getting mistaken for Spirit. So -- [ she bends her good arm and gives her braided hair a bit of a waggle. the light catches on the gold fabric. ]

Getting to work in my actual field again is pretty cool, not gonna lie.

[ but mostly it's just that he doesn't really fit in any other faction. he's pretty effortlessly spirit. ]

I don't think I could be mistaken for anything but Spirit no matter what I wear.

I dunno. All these ideologies are pretty up to interpretation -- you might be staunchly Spirit but I bet there are all sorts of overlap for other people.

[ saying that, though, she's pretty staunchly moxie. ]

I know, that was a me-specific sorta comment. I'm not a fan of the whole divide thing but I guess obviously belonging somewhere makes it a little easier.

[ he doesn't have to make any sort of effort or tell any sort of lie to get what he wants which is fortunate because he's a pretty terrible liar. ]

I bet it makes for some great literature, though. Plenty of star-crossed lovers from different factions. That sorta thing.

I prefer my fictional romance in the background of badass heroics.

Me? I'm happy to have them both foregrounded. I bet there'd be some pretty rip-roaring romances between, say, a Savvy and a Moxie.

And the Spirit friend'll be the one going 'I'm too old for this shit'.
