[she looks over her shoulder and stares at the food dispensers. Wow... really unlimited. She tends to wear her emotions on her sleeve, so for half a second there's a look of longing on her face. Sure it's crappy, but never having to go hungry. Everyone back in Haven...

No, no, no. Thinking about stuff she can't change doesn't do anything productive. She's moving forward, that's what she promised]

That's okay. [she looks back at Robin and puts her hands on her hip. Trying to project confidence or something like that] Maybe when I find something I'll bring it to him, but I don't want to take your stuff before I've earned anything.

[he watches. he's always watching, of course, but he thinks her feelings are pretty obvious. he turns away, finally scrubbing off his hands in the sink--he's got to get under his fingernails and everything.]

How old are you, Mynah?

[ahaha, she ignores his question entirely and perks up at the nickname, and points at him]

That! [she wasn't entirely sure if she heard him right last time]

So I didn't make that up-- what are you calling me?

[oh... fine, he'll let his question sit on the sidelines for a second, answering with a pleasant tone.]

You don't know? It's a bird. It imitates the calls of other birds, and sometimes humans.

Why am I a bird...? [hrmf she can't quite.. tell if that's an insult or not so she's being only semi-defensive]

All good people are birds. [casually drying his hands off. seems oblivious to her tone.]

[which he seems genuine about, at the very least. he doesn't seem like he's making fun of her...!]

So, you never answered my question. How old are you?

[she stares straight at him, then nods. He does seem genuine, so she'll just believe him]

Seventeen. [...] Sort of. The place where I was at before, we never knew what date it was. But I was sixteen when I left home, and was there for a year... so we'll go with seventeen.

[what a funny girl. she seems very serious... though, it sounds as though she'd been to one of these nexus' before, just like him, so that could account for it.]

That's good. You're about the same age as Riku and Sora. You seem very worldly, though... [leaning casually back against the sink.] Are you finally sure you're not where you thought you were?

Worldly... [does she really? huh... it's kinda nice to hear, but she doesn't comment on it and answers his question instead]

Yeah. If we were still in Haven something would have happened by now, or I would have run into other people that I knew there. [thinking about it still leaves a bitter taste in her mouth, and it shows on her face slightly]

I'm glad I'm not there anymore, but I hate thinking about the people who are probably still stuck there.

I understand. [there. he won't make fun of her for being wrong.] I came from a pretty bad place before this, too... I don't ever want to go back, but every once in a while I wonder if the others are doing okay, or if they made it out too...

[...depressing! he shrugs.] For what it's worth, you're very welcome on this crew. And if you need anything, just let me know. I'll do what I can.

[sympathy shows on her face as he talks about his own past place. And she appreciates not being made fun of :3]

Thanks, I'm grateful to be on a ship that mostly seems to have their act together. [she gives an exaggerated sigh] It's easy to imagine people making a mess of the ship they're given.

[he laughs! a little suddenly, actually, and he covers his mouth to not be too loud.]

I won't claim that we're perfect, but everyone seems to get along pretty well. And now we've got a lab... It's kind of exciting. Maybe we'll find some kind of alien creature that you need to science.

[her instant reaction is something akin to 'auuuugh']

What? Eugh, dissecting frogs in class is one thing, but aliens...

Can I just focus on weird chemistry stuff instead? [it's the biggest thing that she's actually kind of intrigued about]

[ljfsdf he laughs again.]

[and her tone gets a bit more serious as she asks]

Do you think we'll be needing a healer on board? [even if she knows it's not Haven, she doesn't trust this place]

So there's been no need for it in the past. In the future, though, it's hard to say.

[ah... she looks kind of embarrassed by him being so nice and friendly for no reason, but not in a bad way. She's glad her ship isn't full of assholes. A-Anyway, trying to maintain composure she shrugs in a nonchalant way]

If you're not busy, I wouldn't mind. But I don't mind exploring on my own either.

[yeah gonna kill you with kindness how about that.]

I'm done in the engine room, so I don't mind. I'll show you all the good nooks and crannies.

[ssssssh shes loves nice people and thinks they're sweet, huff puff]

So if you're an engineer, do you build new machinery for the ship?

I do. Half of the time it's just fixing stuff that breaks around here... The construction is solid, but most of the parts are old or cheap.

[he pats a wall as he goes...]

I can't decide if Atroma is looking for more ways to trouble our lives... or if they're just cheap and lazy.

They could be both? If they can afford crazy equipment to bring us here, then they can afford quality space ships...

But what's the fun in that, right? They probably want to see us squirm a bit.
