[ Padmé’s been asleep for about a month, but she still seems a little tired. As usual, she’s sitting in her office when she broadcasts. ]

Good morning, everyone. [ She smiles kindly, though it doesn’t dispel the glimmer of melancholy in her eyes. ] For those who do not know me, my name is Padmé Amidala. Apparently I took a month-long nap-- I apologize for any inconvenience I’ve caused for my crew. I may need a little help catching up on current events.

[ She pauses, unsure. ] I do have a different sort of question. Has anyone experienced side-effects from our stay on Hea-Guaa?

[ Because her telepathy augment upgrade seems to have finally kicked in. ]

[ Padmé is idly walking through the Heron. Officially, she’s checking their supplies and making sure there aren’t any pressing issues to take care of. She rather hopes there’s some kind of pressing issue, if only to take her mind off of everything and bring her back to her everyday life on the Fleet. But she’s clearly restless and distracted. ]

[Do newbies count as pressing issues? Or at least, one black fox with a very dead pigeonhawk in her mouth, trotting down the hall to her room. At least she's planning on eating it right away instead of storing it in an air vent where it can stink up the place.

She'll pause when she sees the other woman, tilting her head slightly. If this is a visitor she isn't actually sure any other crew members are around at the moment.]

[ Padme has learned to expect almost anything, both in her life back home and in her life on the Fleet.

A black fox wandering the Heron defies her expectations rather soundly. It stops to look at her, pidgeonhawk hanging from its mouth, and Padme can't help but get the feeling that she's simply being watched. It doesn't seem as if it will attack. ]

Are you lost? I'm sure you won't like it in space-- you should go home.

[She looks pretty calm all things considered, with her ears perked up and her tail waving out behind herself almost horizontally, she looks more curious than anything else.

At the question she stops and sits, dropping the bird.]

No, my room is down the hall.

[ Padmé is visibly surprised when Renart speaks. But she's used to sentient creatures coming in all forms.

She smiles, trying to seem a bit more at ease. ]

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you are a member of the crew. I'm Padmé, the first mate.

[She inclines her head slightly. Seems like they're the only two females on the Heron which is fine, she smells human so Renart isn't overly concerned. Humans don't get territorial like other animals.]

I'm Renart.

First mate? What does that mean on a spaceship?

It means I'm the second-in-command. I help Winter when he needs it. I'm best at organization and mediation, so that's what I focus on the most.

It's not nearly as formal on the Fleet as it is on an actual military ship.

Are you like the captain, then? Letting people do their own thing?

[She is a fox who likes her privacy when she does questionable things.]

I don't interfere unless it's dangerous to others.

Good to know. I haven't been putting much stock in any of these titles, anyway. It's hard to when they're for reality television.
