Who: Everyone messed up by the dragon plot, and visitors

Action: Blue Fish's clinic!
When: All throughout the Solrius dragon plot and through the space flight to the next destination.

[So several RPG characters, a dragon, and two messianic figures walk into a planet.

Everything is suffering and tears, there's a lot of dead people, there's no punchline. But, hey, for the survivors, the Blue Fish's clinic is treating wounds and generally being a decent place to rest and recover and pray you don't see a dragon again. And for those who weren't involved, there's enough people bedridden here that there may just be someone you want to visit.]

[ But Zaveid does appreciate everything that Dezel's done for him, and he's not sure how he's meant to voice that without sounding like an idiot - so, instead, he just pours for the two of them, passing the first glass over to his friend. ]

And I didn't ask to pass out, y'know.

You're the one who whined about drinking alone. I don't know why-- old men drink alone all the time.

[He takes the glass that's offered and... yeah, he's chugging that. It's been too damn long since he had a drink, and he's feeling like a stiff one is the perfect remedy for the past 48 hours.]

... I don't think he's mad at you. You did what you had to do.

[ At least he can laugh, a little. ]

C'mon, now you're just being rude!

[ Then he takes a drink of his own, happily, content to let it warm him up... Until Dezel speaks again. Zaveid tenses, throat tight as he turns his head away. ]

That's not exactly how it works, y'know.

[Well, yes, that was the point. He sets his glass on the table and leans back.]

We know how he works. He's going to blame himself more than anyone else.

We're just gonna have to convince him otherwise.

[ His eyes flick to the bottle before he huffs, leaning back and pressing a hand to the side of his body gently. ]

It's not his fault entirely.

We all had a part in it.

[The gesture doesn't escape Dezel.]

They've got painkillers, you know.

Yeah. I just don't want to think about that.

[ He's tired of it all - of the malevolence, of the horror, the danger, the evil. He just wants peace, for five goddamn minutes. ]

... Sure, but I don't need it.

What do you think the alcohol is for?

[He's not even going to try not being sassy. This is how they are.]

Keep whining, then.

So I'm meant to think about your pretty face as I get drunk instead?

[ It makes him huff a little noise as he settles, making himself comfortable. ]

I'll be fine in a few hours. Let a man complain!

[Dezel makes a choked noise not unlike a verbal keysmash.]

P-pretty!?

[He wants to punch Zaveid so hard the bed will break in half. It's very hard not to.]

I didn't think I was stuttering...

[ But he touches his hand to his jaw as he thinks. ]

Shut up!

[Dezel reaches forward as if to grab Zaveid but he stops, mostly because holy fuck ow he still has some broken ribs there and he shouldn't be moving at all. He hisses and sits back again, covering his mouth with his hand.

No one ever, ever remarks on his personal appearance except to say that he looks like a thug, so he uh... doesn't know how to handle compliments, even teasing ones.]

[ Zaveid laughs, loudly, but then he's turning back, watching Dezel with a raised brow. It takes him a moment to calm down, but then he's shaking his head, trying not to look too worried - even if Dezel can't see it he's sure the wind would give it away. ]

When have I ever listened to that, huh?

[He only growls in response. Zaveid is a dick. And Dezel is still blushing. He can feel himself blushing.]

Would've saved you a lot of trouble.

A man can only sit and utter truths, Dezel! It's the best way to a babe's heart!

[ That makes him blink. ]

Did I say you were one?

Don't play dumb. [that's all Zaveid does] You just implied it!

[GHGJRHGURHRgrh he's not going to win this and he already knows his face is red, so he decides to get revenge by grabbing the bottle of alcohol and drinking straight out of it.

FUCK U ZAV]

Someone's touchy - hey!

[ He leans over, shaking his head as he watches Dezel - and he can't help his smile. It's soft, and there, and he's happy because he and Dezel are being stupid together and it makes his heart feel warm and all the pain inside of him fade away for a moment into the back of his mind. ]
