[the voice that comes through the feed sounds young and very frightened. she trips over her words and stutters, nervous, speaking very quickly. she's wandering a corridor on the pathstone, pacing rapidly after leaving the room she woke up in, and the sound of her hurried footsteps can be heard in the background.]

Hello? I-I'm sorry. I know I'm not supposed to talk to strangers. But I think I'm lost... Um, really lost. I don't remember how I got here at all, and I tried my dad's phone number but it isn't working.

[a pause. breathing in, breathing out. it doesn't make her sound more calm.]

I don't really know who I'm talking to, but if you can help me get home - I'm really scared. Um, my name is Natalie, I...

[she trails off, and there's a pause as she walks past a window for the first time, looks out into the vast array of stars and blackness out there.]

No way—

[she fumbles with the communicator for a moment, panicked, before the feed abruptly stops.

ooc: natalie/opal is being affected by an age down augment glitch! she'll be younger for about a week.]

[ he smiles before hanging up the call. he's so not cut out for this. he should call kara, kara will be better with the kid. but maybe a part of him wants to redeem himself after his last babysitting disaster, prove to himself that it's ok to be with kitty because he can sit with a kid in a room without losing or ruining them.

so he arrives a couple minutes later - in one hand he's carrying a dinosaur plush, in the other a little bag. he waves at her cheerfully. ]

Hi - you got a nice kitchen here. [ the tourist's is nicer, but he just wants to say something positive and he has no idea what that thing should be. ]

Um, thank you. It's not really mine...

[she glances up at him nervously, then catches sight of the stuffed animal - her eyes widen for a moment, and though she hesitates before asking, she sounds pleased]

Is that for me?

Yup! [ he smiles, happy to have guessed right, he hands her over ] Her name's Cali - like California, that's where I'm from. My girlfriend won her for me, so take good care of her, okay?

[she takes it with a smile, looking back up at him]

I will. I'm from Washington... It's a lot rainier, but not that far away. What's it like in California?

[ he takes a seat ]

Really? I've never been to Washington - do you like it? I really like California, it's sunny. I'm a sunshine kinda guy.

It can get pretty cold. I don't think my parents like it very much, but it's nice when it snows. Does it snow in California, even though it's sunny most of the time?

Yeah sometimes it does, in some places. The winters are still pretty cold.

Have you lived there all your life?

Yeah, National City born and raised.

I don't think I've heard of it. What do you do there?

I work with computers in a really big media company, it's pretty cool. But that's my day job - [ lowering his voice ] can I trust you with my top secret other job?

[she nods. super serious time.]

[ he nods, just as serious. ]

I totally do! I made her costume, and I do tech stuff for her.

How long have you known her? What's the coolest thing she's asked you to do?

Well - I help. She does the actual saving, but I get her the information she needs.

That's still really amazing, Winn! Are there a lot of really bad aliens?

There are some, but there are really cool aliens too - like Supergirl, she's an alien. And she's tougher than the rest of them put together.

Wow... How did you meet her?

I literally bumped into her. Which kinda hurt, she's got super strength. But she's the nicest person in the world, we just instantly got along.
