[Makie opens her eyes a crack; finally, after a good six weeks. She feels too heavy and worn out, so something is obviously amiss, though her first thought is maybe she's just ill. She's had mornings like this in the past, before a friendly angel came and cleared the disease from her lungs.

She's probably also not alone, either. Well, then.

It might be why, despite how fragilely she shuffles toward the kitchen soon afterward, she looks amazingly content. Maybe she spent that much time dreaming some good shit, who knows? Or maybe it's just that she's no longer alone anymore. Other crew on the Windrose might have noticed she had a visitor in the past few weeks. Makie's sorry, guys. Hopefully Lilly didn't break anything :|

When she's woken up some with food and good tea and has caught up with her crew and made sure they're all still in one piece, she'll hit the network, looking tired and pale but courteous as always.]

I've been asleep a long time, it seems.

For those who don't know me, my name is Otono-Tachibana Makie. There's a relatively new addition to the fleet whom some of you may have met. [And regretted it.] She's a small child by the name of Lilly, fair-haired, who has... some difficulty communicating. But she likes to explore. If you find her on your ship, please treat her well. If you wish to remove her from your ship, I will retrieve her.

[She's got the best bet of doing it without causing more disaster, at any rate. Please be nice to her feral child, Fleet. She asks nicely.]

[Someone she hasn't met. But a huge someone, from the sounds of it.]

Wolf of the big variety. [And bad, but she'll leave that out. He hasn't been bad to her or Sascha.]

I'm going to assume he's more than a simple wolf, if the Fleet have pulled him here. But that wouldn't surprise me. I've had a reindeer as a doctor, before.

Well, he is immortal and talks and comes from fairytails, so a little different, sure.

Did you say reindeer doctor? [She must have misheard you thinks the girl who just said she knows a talking wolf from fairytails.]

Yes. [Makie actually grins.] Apparently, he's also a pirate. He helped me with my illness, back in Adstringendum.

Illness? [It hasn't been lost on her that there's something, but they haven't really discussed. ~~Or maybe her mun forgot. She's the worst.~~]

[She shakes her head.] Lung sickness. Or tuberculosis, I suppose you would say. It's no longer a problem.

[Which is why it hasn't really been discussed, it's all good. She's been putting on weight gradually to make up for the stick-thin nature of her arrival.]

I'm sorry or congratulations for it being under control. Something in between there?

[She's quiet for a beat.] There wouldn't have been a cure when you're from, was there?

None that I could condone. [There's a supposed miracle medicine at home, she's heard of, that can suppress the symptoms. But given one of its key ingredients requires extract from a human liver...eesh.]

I have no intention of returning home, however. Should the Fleet see fit to remove me, I imagine I will return to Adstringendum.

What makes you think they'd just return you there? [She's curious about the confidence in it. After all, intentions rarely matter in these places.]

It's where they pulled me from. And Lilly. Sam, too. And Lilly and Sam... remember more than I do about my own life, so I imagine I will go back there to catch up.

[She smiles ruefully.] Though it seems I'll have to die first.

You'll have to what? [Okay, she heard it, but she's not sure she's following which is a little sad considering she was very nearly dead herself back home. Just seconds away from the end.]

Oh... [Yeah she. Kind of realises now how that sounds.] It's...complicated.

In Adstringendum, I was very sick, still. And I was forced into a fight that I was no longer ready for. My lungs gave out. It's... the last thing I remember from there.

When I woke up here, I assumed I was dead. But Sam remembers those events, and he says that I recover. Death is a fickle thing in Adstringendum, it seems.

Right. That happened in Marina sometimes toward the end. [In the beginning if you died you were just gone. Once they learned about the virtual reality nature of the prison the wardens decided to dispense with that.] Sorry. [What do you say to dying when someone gets better? It's part of why she doesn't talk that much about having died at home.]

Who is Lilly? [She made it sound like someone she should know like she knows Sam. Winchester, right?]

[...oh. Huh.]

You haven't met Lilly yet? She's a new arrival to the Fleet, it seems. [There's a ghost of amusement there.] She's been spending a lot of time in my room while I was asleep, it seems.

[The jig is up! Kitty was not going in to watch Makie's sleeping body!]

Haven't met her yet. Are you from the same world?

No. Not originally.

We met in Adstringendum. She walked into my house one day and I fed her.

Always a good way for making friends. What's she like?

Younger than she should be, I think. You'll understand what I mean when you meet her. She has... difficulty with some words. And manners. In many ways, I'm still getting to know her.

[But there's a definite bond there. Lilly's gone from sneaking into Makie's house and stealing her things to scowling and hitching rides on her hip.]

Younger than she should be? To be here you mean? [She's not entirely sure that is what Makie means.]

No.

She's a young girl who acts several years younger. She wasn't raised in an environment conducive to the right sort of growth.

[She's feral.]

I see. Well, we'll just have to make the Windrose better than that then. [For as long as they can. Spoiler alert: it won't be long.]

[~~sob~~ Makie smiles.] I think that would be nice. I must confess though she trusts me, I know very little about actually raising a child.

I had students back home, but they weren't really that much younger than me. [And they all died so...] Castle has a kid. What could go wrong with Castle in charge of something? [Smiling.]

[Pfft. She can't help but laugh a little at that notion.]

We could tell him uncomfortable experiences are good for writers.
