Action - Iskaulit/Video - open

Who: Furiosa and you
Broadcast: Video
Action: Iskaulit
When: throughout the week

[Furiosa is more or less fully recovered from her ordeal on the snowy mountain. There's a lingering cough, and stiffness where she'd been banged up from the avalanche, but she's out and about and on the move. She's come to the gardens for a little bit of exercise, helping tend to the plants, while getting some quiet reflection and time around green things. She's still missing a replacement prosthetic while Tyrion works her up a new one, but it doesn't seem to slow her down any.]

[She spends some time just walking around the ship and seeing what other establishments have been popping up. She might stop in the Málum for a drink and a bite to eat.]

[Eventually she ends up back at the gardens for a rest and takes a seat with her back against a tree. She's playing through the audio file Atroma had left her a while ago - twelve hours of ambient truck noises. She's been thinking a lot about home, lately, and remembered Miss Giddy and how she was instrumental in getting Furiosa and the Wives the chance to escape.]

We had History Men and Women in my world; people with the past written out on their skin, stories always on their tongue, full of wisdom and ... and inner sort of strength they gave to others.

[In some small way, Furiosa has felt the need to fill that role here; in as much giving strength to others. The story telling? Not so much, and the physical branding ... she had enough of that with Immortan's symbol at the back of her neck.]

How did you share your history, in your world?

[What a melancholy topic, but it's one that Monty's drawn to.]

I was the record-keeper in the reality I was set in before this one. Each month, I would write out what had happened in our fortress and in our company and summarize it, sending out a copy to everyone there.

Before that, in my native reality, we had books of history filled up by scholars. You could read them at the library or buy them, if you liked.

It seems a strange idea to me to etch the past into one's skin. So many would sooner leave such scars behind them, even if they shape us. May I ask your name, miss? Mine's Montague Navarro, but please, do call me Monty.

Yes, Ms. Furiosa. [What a peculiar name. No more peculiar than 'Wrath,' though, he supposes.] A barren wasteland we were told was what remained after the end of all realities. Clearly, the people in it were misinformed about a remaining few such as this. Provided it is not a false reality. I do hope it's not.

All that we had was hard-fought or made with the power of belief.

May I ask what your world was like?

[Well, that sounds entirely awful. Monty's tone becomes sympathetic.] I'm so very sorry, Ms. Furiosa. I imagine this place is as much a relief to you as it is to me, then, even if we leave behind those we love.

[That, at least, is a sentiment he can appreciate.]

In my life before my reality crumbled? My wife, my dearest friend, and my family's estate. I'm the last living heir and the chief officer of my family's banking house.

In Between? I've left friends and lovers, a world only half-rebuilt, mysteries that remain unsolved, my oath to discover the truth of our circumstances, and desperate people in desperate need. I do worry what may happen. We stood upon the cusp of a dramatic moment, a door into another realm was to be opened, one beyond the reach of even the Avatar of Absolute Truth.

I'm not so very certain I can believe that when the time I knew in my own home was said to have stopped forever, and places like this are not uncommon. There is another Avatar, her domain is Reality. She can create realities like this that are nothing more than stories--dreams.

Indeed. Until then, I suppose we might well enjoy the new company we have. [There's a rueful quality to Monty's tone.]

Do you plan to record the history of this place for yourself?

What sort of woman would you call yourself, then, Ms. Furiosa?
poisoninmypocket: (curious | question)

[That first reply gets a raise of Monty's brows. The second isn't terribly informative for someone who knows nothing of her world, though.]

You'll forgive me, but is a Vuvalini a profession among your clansmen?

Warriors. I see. [That would explain her rather rugged appearance, he supposes.] I'm sure you can tell that I'm not much of a warrior, myself, but I am a survivor. I suppose we all have our ways about it.

May I ask, did you wish to share more of your clan's history here? That it might be recorded for whatever annals exists.

Perhaps you might like to start with a personal journal? I find writing down thoughts and experiences can be very cathartic when reflecting on... difficult things.

I'll bid you well in that endeavor if you undertake it, then, Ms. Furiosa. And if you'd ever like to share the history of your people aloud, please know that I should be available to listen. A sympathetic ear can help with the harder memories.
