I think so. So you use the glyph as the focus, instead of say a staff and it guides the spell into the shape you need it to take when you put your magic through it?

[A much more simplistic way to look at it, probably, but he dimly remembers Malcolm mentioning glyphs and how they can be used to focus. He'd skimmed over it though, telling Adalwolfe that they should be more worried about what he can cast quickly to protect their family and get them to safety as opposed to spending too much time on finesse work that may or may not help. He'd listened then without argument because father knew best, but he's older now and knows that perhaps that isn't the truth of it.]

Can a spell like that paralyze multiple targets if the glyph is big enough? Or would that take too much mana?

I don't know about your situation, but I do know that people in general are more interested in themselves and their own safety. It's not their fault, it's just how they are, but it means when the next kingdom over is, say, being overrun with monsters from the deep, they're more likely to draw back and say 'glad its not me!' then help in the good fight. Sometimes the only way to change their minds is through something drastic.

We'll probably never be running low on that kind of thing. Crazy stuff that makes people have a call to arms. The main problem is other people, some are fighting against the new staus quo, others want retribution against largely innocent people. It's just...a mess.

Well, if he asks, and he wants my blessing for some reason or another, I'll give it. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if Wardens are technically allowed to get married. Some come in already wed, but I don't know if they can after they've become a Warden.

I've heard this "wall" mentioned quite a few times now. [Tyrion and Robb have mentioned it to her, and even Jon as well.] I take it it's far up north. What is it supposed to be keeping out?

[It will never cease to amaze or upset Wolfe that people so young - children - get embroiled in these things, but he's long since learned that there's no use in trying to save them from it. Instead, the best thing to do it support them, work with them like anyone else. Sokka's clearly already been through more than many in his lifetime and far be it from Wolfe to look down on that just because of his age.]

When it comes to that, I guess it's just being able to make people see what's best for everyone instead of just for them. The hardest thing for us was always getting people to see past their own fear of each other. It's still a struggle.

[The foliage around them gets bigger and darker, and that pawing feeling comes back but Sorey's experienced it so often by now that it's easy to ignore.]
