Who: Allen Walker
Broadcast: Video
Action: SS Blue Fish
When: Today
[For those who've been here awhile, a familiar scene comes onto the feed. Allen's standing behind a table in the Blue Fish clinic. The lab itself looks a bit more...cluttered than usual. It's what happens when the person who keeps things orderly vanishes. Timcanpy is behind him on the shelf, wearing a small orange hat]
Hello everyone. If you don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, one of the medics aboard the Blue Fish. Nice to see you all again.
Just a couple announcements today! We'll be holding our bimonthly blood drive this weekend. The blood donated is kept for medical emergencies that require a blood transfusion. In other words, we use scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you donate, we'll gladly pay you!
If you're interested and are over the age of 16, please fill out the form attached to this video.
[And what do you know, it's there] If you're interested in volunteering, please let me know. Vampires and similar beings interested in volunteering will need to be able to have restraint around blood and will not be allowed to sample the blood. The blood drive will be held on the SS Blue Fish, as usual.
And as always, there will be cookies to anyone who volunteers or donates.
Second, I want to thank everyone who volunteered to help out with the first aid kits. We've managed to make good headway on them, though there's still more to be done if you're still interested in volunteering. Largely, we need more medical supplies, people to assemble the kits and people to help distribute them. If you're interested in having a first aid kit for your business, ship or shuttles- please let me know.
[And for the last part...his smile seems to die down some.]Finally, at this point it'd be...irresponsible for me to continue to overlook the fact that there have been a number of augment glitches in the past few months that have turned...dangerous.
[He hesitate a moment before speaking.]I don't know why the change, and honestly you can speculate why in your own time. But speaking as someone who lived in a place that'd have similar issues....the best thing you can do is prepare. Make sure crews know what to do in case of an emergency, whether that be evacuation routes or defensive measures. Make sure there's more than one plan as well, just in case the first one doesn't work or doesn't apply.
If there's a cause for concern that a glitch could affect you in a dangerous way, speak with the people you trust. Develop plans or preventative measures to help minimize the danger. Don't try to take care of the problem all by yourself and don't assume the worst won't happen to you. I know it's by no means easy to share such things and I'm not going to pretend you can or
should trust everyone in the fleet with your secrets, but ...
[There's a pause as he's clearly thinking about something bad, but he clears his throat and carries on] Well, it's better than the alternative.
Anyway, that's all I have to today. Thank you.
[And the feed cuts out]
[OOC: As usual, the blood drive will be handwaved! First Aid Kits can be handwaved as well, but feel free to use them as a means for threads whether it be supply gathering, assembly or giving them to people]
