[Kaylee is looking a little sour faced when she opens the broadcast. She's proudly wearing the little wrench necklace Takeshi gave her for Christmas, but then pans down to show a whole crate full of cheap-looking mechanic's tools. There's a pocket socket set, a hot pink set of coveralls, and various other implements, including, strangely, a bag of novelty bottle openers. They're all... quite colorful, having neon-colored handles, and have prominent sponsor logos on them.]

Now look, I ain't trying to look a gift horse in the mouth, but is there a reason for all the pink? I'm findin' it's hard enough getting people at this hotel to take me and my mechanic ability seriously, and this might make it a bit harder. Also, tools is usually a dull color 'cause they get dirty easily, so I'd be ruining the present pretty quick. Is this really the kind of cra... stuff the sponsors send us?

[The badly angled view of Marsiva's viewing bay should be familiar to most before Arthur gets his camera angled right to actually show his face. It figured he'd be dragged away on his day off. Meeting new people when he actually looked respectable and not dressed like a punk (Union Jack shirt, earrings, and temporary green streaks in his hair included) would just be too much to ask for, wouldn't it?]

Really, kidnapped to a reality show in space. If I didn't know better I'd think someone had given me a good sound whack on the head. This would make more sense as a hallucination.

[Grumbles, flicking a few green strands from his face and trying to straighten his clothes to look somewhat respectable. The proper English accent helps, he's sure.]

Well, since it sounds like I'm not the only one in this situation, I might as well say hello. I'm Arthur Kirkland, of Great Britain. It's a pleasure to meet you. Circumstances aside of course. I'm sorry for my appearance, but this caught me a little off-guard.

Nah it's totally the truth. Still fun though!

[ So that's....yeah. That's Jack. In a measurably good mood??? A little disoriented sure but hey! Which means even if your character isn't on the network? Jack's going to be working his ways through the systems any way he can to peek and pry around. For members of the Golden this manifests as glitch-riddled access panels and weird random texts full of gibberish and code...and the odd door slamming itself shut in your face. Or refusing to open at all.

It seems that the Fleet has happened upon some sort of vacation destination! Maybe Atroma thinks that the passengers deserve some rest and relaxation... or just wants to distract them with something huge and shiny.

Welcome to Hotel Corona! Feel free to enjoy yourselves and enjoy the sites! If a hotel resort isn't your thing, you can head on over to the nearby planet and explore it's icy wonders.

[It won't be long before the Marsiva leaves the system. Not once has the fleet's Host Ship gone near the green, mysterious planet, choosing instead to keep it only at the far edges of her reach. All the while, the party deck has remained open and welcoming, tempting passengers to stay and try their luck for last-minute prizes.

And just when it seems like the fleet may leave the Lagan system without incident- a sudden rush of energy flares out across the green planet's surface and beyond, rippling far past its atmosphere until it reaches every ship in the fleet. The energy buffets the hulls and scrambles the instruments for one or two very dramatic minutes - just as it had before, but much more powerful in its reach. The wave is still invisible, save for a confusing warp in the way light describes shapes, but those who are sensitive to various energies--psionic, magical, life-force, or otherwise--will be able to feel an overwhelming force comb through their entire being, before the phenomenon passes over and ends.

However, unlike last time, this wave of energy is not silent. Across both the speakers of every communication device and console, and in the minds of anyone sensitive to the energy, comes the message:]

Yei equoa seh ouat ti unduo ti akun. Yiat deht quoi yiat seh kiskhan. Yiaht seh yesui ti yiat seh enduan, tal yei vissai atuav yei ti esat yiat lehir hanui. Esat yiat lehir evess. Hanui gisketi ideht yesui ti tokia gisketi ideht uaru, tal adrifa deseht adtah.

[Those who had been investigating the wreckage's systems may notice that this message is the very same as the one coded in the distress signal. Perhaps the Virsua was trying once last time to communicate.]

[OOC: Feel free to use this post as a mingle--either for broadcasts over the network or in-person interactions. The Marsiva is still within range of the planet for another day or two, so any in-person threads can be on the planet's surface, aboard various ships or stations, or in the Marsiva's party room.

For those who had learned a translated word before, now is a great chance to put that knowledge to use!

While the mods continue to sort out the upcoming happenings with the Drift Fleet, we thought a final themed mingle would be fun to play with in the meantime. Enjoy!]

It hadn't been a great surprise when Jeyne had appeared suddenly on the Golden. For all of her intentions of begging to be at her husband's side, she inwardly knew that she would be placed elsewhere. For the few days she had spent on the Marsiva, as well as the brief conversations she had on her strange device, she had slowly become aware of how these Atroma intended to play. Nothing was about her comfort, it was about this show that they had brought her here for.

For her sanity, and for Robb's sake, she would need to make the best of this situation and allow herself to be moved around as a pawn once more.

She had at least been given a room of her own. For the first few days, she had wandered the ship, acquainting herself with her surroundings, but only when she wasn't with her husband. Traveling between the Golden and the Blue Fish was becoming a routine for her. While she wanted to remain with Robb, she had duties to attend to and couldn't neglect her own crew.

So mornings and evenings, she would travel between the ships, slowly become familiar with the faces she passed (even if she didn't know all of their names.)

Stepping through the sealed doors, Jeyne rested for a moment, catching her breath and regaining her composure. No matter how often she passed people or walked the distance between her ship and the Blue Fish, she still managed to become disoriented and drained.

Hearing another's approach, she forced herself back into composure, bringing a smile once more to her features. "Good day," she said, turning to greet the person that had interrupted her solitude. "Am I in your way?"

[Han can be found walking around SS Golden stretching his legs after a long time spent asleep in his cabin and occasionally talking to his crewmates and asking after what they've been up to since he fell asleep. He seems a little put out about having missed plenty while he was unconscious, which is--honestly not much of a change in his demeanor, he's always cranky over something.

He can also be found on the planet, hiking out to the massive ruins either by himself or with company. Hell, you might even want to keep him company, even just for a night--he's packed enough food and water for a few days of camping, along with gear for taking whatever he can lift off the hulk and sell off for a few credits, and he's willing enough to share what he's packed with somebody else.]

[Wherever you are, passenger, whether on the surface of the planet, the way-station, or safe in your ship, all network terminals and personal communicators crackle to life. The Hosts have come calling, but there are a few differences, this time. Splashed across every screen in the Fleet, an eye-catching new image demands the attention of the passengers. And instead of the usual space-age jingle, your hosts see fit to interrupt the day with the sound of a much older song...

For the old-timers and archive-readers out there, this song has been heard once before. Much like last time, the familiar voice of Beau can be heard crooning pleasantly along in the background.

Unlike that other recording, however, Diamond's voice sparkles to the foreground before much time can pass. It would seem that the Drift Fleet's hosts are a little more on-top of things, this year.]

Hello, my darling passengers! We are here to wish you all an absolutely wonderful birthday. Sure, it's technically an anniversary, but we much prefer the idea of a birthday. It sounds better and the parties are so much more fun! You could even think of it as celebrating the beginning of a new life--two magnificent years spent under the stars...

[She sighs happily, and Beau pauses in his singing to chuckle fondly in her direction.]

And so, we have a very special present for all of you! We've been working very hard to make it a reality; it has taken quite a bit of time and effort... but we think that each and every one of you deserves it. I hope you all know how much you mean to us and to your adoring audience.

If you will look to the Marsiva, you'll notice that a special new hangar bay is open, waiting for you to arrive! That's right--we've opened up a special party room for all of you to go celebrate. We've provided games, food, and plenty of prizes. It has been hard to keep the secret quiet, but... oh, the looks on your faces when you see it will make it all worth it!

So, let's party! Relax, enjoy, and spend time with your friends... Your fans would be disappointed not to see all of their favorites there! The audience has been looking forward to this--so I'm sure it will be quite the ratings boost for everyone attending.

[Another pleased sigh, and she claps her hands!]

...But why wait? Let's start celebrating now! To kick off this special time of year, we have two questions from the audience: what would everyone like for their Drift Fleet birthdays, and if you could pick one vacation destination in all of the worlds, what would it be? Respond to this frequency with your answers, and who knows... wishes might just come true!

I am honored to have spent a second year with you wonderful people, and I can't wait to see what the next one has in store.

Enjoy your party, dear passengers! And, as always... the worlds are watching!

[The song finally comes to an end and the line remains open, presumably waiting for responses from the Fleet at large. And for those who head to the Marsiva to check it out, it turns out that Diamond's promises are true this time.

Happy second birthday, Drift Fleet!]

[The face on the communicator is of a young man dressed in a strange uniform with blue accents. The camera isn’t facing down or upside-down or anything, so it’s almost like he might know what he’s doing.

Bridge waves at the camera with a smile.]

Hello! My name is Bridge Carson, cadet of S.P.D. Earth and first I was on this big ship that was really kind’ve small because there wasn’t much to the part I was in, but it was also kind’ve big again because it was mostly empty. But now I’m on one of the smaller ships, the Bloodsport which...now that I think about it, that’s not a very good name for a ship; who wants to be on a ship called ‘Bloodsport?’ Sounds...well...bloody.

[Huh. Oh well]

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and meet some of you since it seems like we’re gonna have some time to get to know each other. Although, I get the feeling I might have missed a step or...three.

[Based on the movement of the camera, those watching might notice that Bridge has walked part way back the way he came as though he might be able to pick up those missed steps. He shakes his head as he dismisses the idea and another one occurs to him.]

Oh, and if anyone else is from S.P.D. just raise your hand. Well, with the video on.

Action

For anyone on the Bloodsport, they can find their new engineer just about anywhere on the ship as he explores every nook and cranny, even the ones he probably has no business poking into. However, he spends a lot of time of his first couple days, predictably, in the engine room..

Anyone who stumbles into the engine room, however, might want to watch their step as the floor is littered with metal and wires and debris. Bridge himself is half under a consol. Don’t worry, he has everything under control.

After being on the Marsiva, and now being on this little ship, Espio has managed to work his way through what confusion he had, and now he's just... angry. If he could encrypt this somehow, there would be a very angry wall of incomprehensible ranting on the network as he vents, but since his ID number will be associated with him eventually, his anger is condensed into two simple sentences that express none of his feelings and don't help him feel better at all:
]

That's the third time. Hope you know I hate every single one of you.

[No signature is given. He doesn't care to identify himself right now.]

[And on the Golden...

The confetti was unappreciated. The pudding... well, okay, that got eaten, because while it was kind of plastic-tasting to him it was still a free sweet. Espio isn't particularly inclined to explore his new surroundings, though. He's kind of still mad at said surroundings. His exploration of the vessel is therefore slow, consisting mostly of lurking in corridors or on the bridge, pulling faces at things, and shooting any fellow crew members an irritable glare rather than doing the sensible thing and introducing himself.

[The Marsiva's Hospitality Deck is cool and sterile as this feed clicks into life, the cameras zooming in on the biobed in the centre of the room. Normally there would be a recognisable humanoid lying there, but today there is a strange puddle of dark blue goop, glossy and rubbery in texture, held in place by a special cradle to stop the material slopping all over the spotless floor. There's only one clue that this is a person; an Augment suspended neatly in the middle of the blob. For a good long moment nothing happens, but then slowly the goo starts to move, twitching at first and then beginning to churn in increased agitation.

It had been a long time since Gemini last experienced unconsciousness and she was extremely disorientated. One moment she'd been closing in for a kill, about to finish her mission and the next she's waking up in an entirely different place having unwillingly reverted to her base form. That fact alone making her very unhappy.

Tentacles erupt from the rubbery mass, seeking to do damage to whoever had captured her, the forest of angry coils knocking the cameras askew, filling the room in a writhing mass as information from her Augment starts to trickle in. The information was unwelcome, the sensation of having a thing attached to her not something Gemini wanted and she immediately tried to detach her cells from it.

It's a good thing she doesn't have a mouth to scream. The tentacles twitch and start to melt, pulling back to the cradle, the whole gooey mass flopping to the floor out of sight, obviously in terrible pain. It's nearly a minute later when one of the cameras is wrenched back around, and now there's a black haired young woman staring into the camera, visibly seething.]
