Iskaulit Mingle - Problems with Psychics
Who: Anyone on the Iskaulit!
Broadcast: If you'd like?!
Action: Iskaulit!
When: Today, as Sora's augment glitch starts.
[It's your average day on the Iskaulit. Absolutely nothing seems out of place initially, but without any warning- you might find yourself or your friends experiencing some problems. What's up on that?
In other words, it's an Iskaulit mingle with a twist! Come on in everyone! You don't need to interact with Sora to have it effect you, so feel free to start your own threadstarter! Or talk to Sora, that's cool too. ]

Alphonse Elric | OTA
Halfway to the gym, however, out of nowhere he seemed to get hit with water. He couldn't see where it came from, but one moment he was dry and another he was soaked. Confused, he looked around and began to probe at the walls, trying to see if there was a leak of some sort... when it happened again. This time, his crotch was soaked.
Soon, anybody near the gym could find Al doing some weird dance, trying to avoid splashes of water from all directions.]
Richard Castle | OTA
As he walked, his mind wandering, Castle didn't notice at first that his steps were getting heavier and heavier... until he found himself unable to lift his feet, and all it took was a trip to send him sprawing to the ground.]
Uh... help? Anyone? I've fallen and I can't get up!
[Officer Snuggles, for his part, was floating around Castle's head, looking like he was having the time of his life and yapping happily.]

She hadn't gotten far when she felt herself walking smack dab into a wall.]
OW! What in the...?
[But, plot twist: there was no wall. Rubbing her nose, Kaylee stood and stared in bafflement, before cautiously tiptoeing forward.]

Why had she come here? She couldn't remember. Finally, she looked down at the medical supplies she was carrying, mentally facepalming. Right, the supply kits. However, a few steps later, she had the same problem, and by the time she got to the surgery center, she had to sit down and re-center herself.
It was almost refreshing when she got to the garden without mishap... only to find that all the lights hung up to nourish the plants seemed to briefly snuff out as she passed them.]
... I think I'm going nuts.

Stefan can't help grimacing at his luck, and truthfully, at how high up he is. His augment must've been glitching. It must've been glitching worse than usual, because he's stuck on the very edge of that ceiling and holding onto the edges for dear life.
He can't say he was ever afraid of heights before, but he sure doesn't like them now.
Nevermind that - oh.
Oh no, he's definitely falling from the ceiling. He's gonna hit that patch of dirt, or that or - or he's gonna eat dirt. Literally.
With such beauty and grace, gravity sure punched him in the face.]

Beverly Crusher | OTA
[Ahh, what better way to wrap up a long day with a nice drink and some music (albeit music you’ve heard entirely too many times over at this point)?
Except Beverly’s plans for relaxation are rudely interrupted by… lightning? When she tries to turn on the jukebox, sparks fly out of her fingers, temporarily shutting the music down.]
What the -?
[There’s a tingling sensation in her hands. It’s not painful, but not exactly pleasant either. She turns them over, palms up, to examine them. Apparently, something in that movement triggered a reaction, as two small balls of lightning coalesce in her palms. Instinctively, she clenches her fists to try to make the lightning disappear, but that only sends both balls shooting straight up to the ceiling where they knock out some of the lights. Cursing under her breath, she looks around for help, an explanation, anything.
Seems like there has been a power swap with a certain Mage...]
[B. Iskaulit Gardens, Telepathy]
[As she is almost every day, Beverly's in the gardens, tending to her plants, when it begins. It's quiet enough at first, just a murmur in the background, hardly noticeable. She hums softly as she plucks berries off the vine, ready to take back to the Blue Fish. The humming is enough to drown out the mysterious sound, for now.
But as the Iskaulit wakes up and more people come on board, it gets worse. Now there are distinct voices, voices that don't belong to her, yet many of them are familiar. Words and images flood her mind, causing her temples to throb. Dropping her basket on the floor, she takes a step back, pulls out her tricorder, and scans herself. She frowns at the results.]
That doesn’t make any sense…
[ooc: Beverly has swapped some powers with Charles Xavier and now has telepathy, for a day anyway. If you’d like Beverly to read your character’s mind, please shoot me a PM on her journal or on plurk so we can discuss parameters!]

Nami | OTA
Then she drops a glass behind the bar. Stares at it frozen for a few seconds, glances around like a deer in headlights-- before pasting a cheerful smile on her face and carrying on. Business as usual. Not a worry. Except after a few minutes of trying to fill drink orders while painstakingly looking for the right bottles (because she suddenly has no idea where they are), she thinks maybe she should just stammer her excuses to whoever runs this weird bar she's found herself in (spoilers, Nami: that's you) and flee for a quieter place to work out what the hell is going on.
You can catch her either in the bar or beating a hasty retreat from it and getting utterly lost in the Iskaulit, poking her head into different rooms and trying to work out where the hell she is. Memory loss is pretty rude, man.]

Hux | ota
Things were quiet, something he wasn't used to. Barriss Offee had left him with instructions on what they had been working on and though meditation wasn't something he was used to, it still passed the time. Also, he doubted if anyone was looking for him they would search the meditation rooms so it also gave him time to work on what he wanted or just play hologames on his datapad.
Today was different, though. When he closed his eyes he felt the world shift around him. Suddenly he felt as if he was lost, overwhelmed with the world practically vibrating around him. If he focused he could start to make out bits of the sounds and images- the feelings- going through his mind. It was nothing clear, however, but he felt as if he suddenly understood more than he had a moment ago. Behind him, several pillows began to float in mid-air
Perhaps he had fallen asleep and it had been a dream. He startled when he heard someone speak just behind him even though it felt further away. The pillows fell to the floor but he still felt as if the world would never be the same. It was disorienting and it took him a moment to remember to turn around to see who had spoken to him.]
ii. Use the Force- (Iskaulit/Heron)
[He was a bit disappointed that he couldn't yet figure out how to shoot lightning from his fingertips yet like Palpatine had been rumored to have been able to do. He could feel it running through him, everything seemed more- well- alive. He wondered if this was how all Jedi and Sith felt at all times, he had to admit it was overwhelming.
It had only taken a flick of his hand to close the door on Rey, he would let her stay in there a bit while he got used to his new abilities. He had never wanted to be Force-sensitive before aside from the occasional idle daydream of being able to use Force lightning on Kylo Ren or anyone else who happened to annoy him.
Now he could play around with the Force and see what he could do. ]
iii. Revenge of the Stars- (Iskaulit)
[Apparently being able to use the Force for a day hadn't been disorienting enough suddenly his head felt like it was going to explode thanks to one Elf he hadn't even noticed passing by in the corridor.
There was- music. Lyrics but the same ones over and over again. There so much noise in his head that it took him a moment to make the words out. He looked around for a moment but it seemed the world had gone bright. Everything around him- no, it actually seemed to be just him alone- glowed brightly.]
If this is some kind of joke, I am not amused [but whether the Elf or anyone else was around to hear him was difficult to discern clearly.]
i.
Well she had been a child for a few weeks. She supposed anything was possible, though this shift was far more uncomfortable.
"Hux?" she saw him in the meditation room, which wasn't uncommon, but the floating pillows...
Those were not common in the least. That was the sort of thing that happened when objects were being summoned or lifted through the Force. Rey blinked a few times and sighed loudly.
"I think you have something of mine."

Leonard McCoy | ota
[Having been on a starship as long as he has, McCoy has had to deal with gravity malfunctions now and again. He's pretty sure it's even happened between one step and another, as this one just did. Still, it catches him by surprise -- because who expects the gravity to just go with no warning? -- and he's kinda slow-motion ping-pongs into a door jamb before catching himself. It's a bit graceless.
Just... gonna hang out here, how you doing, watch out for that localized bit of no-gravity there.]
B
[One minute he's walking. The next, he's slamming into a wall he can't see. His hand flies to his nose because ouch not a pleasant thing to do, smacking one's face into a solid bit of nothing.] Christ.
[Going around turns out to be an impossibility. Going back the way he came? Also impossible. He stubs his toe on that invisible wall just as it dawns on him that he's apparently trapped by forcefields of some sort.
Which, of course, means he kicks the goddamn not-wall.
Which also hurts, goddamn it.]
B
He does meander over and considers Bones from a relatively safe distance - that is, out of immediate arm reach and raises both eyebrows at him. ]
Maybe you should stick to your day job. Never heard of mime that could actually hurt themselves.

Maglor | OTA
[ It is the silence that hits, the sudden absence of the symphony that has been Maglor's constant companion since his very first memory, the abrupt loss of the Light that marks him as Eldar, one of those the grey-elves used to call "fire-eyes" for the flame that lived in them, the refraction of the light that birthed Moon and Sun.
He keens, voice shaking in terror... and that is when he starts to breathe frost ]
W-what... what is going on!
B: Iskaluit - The Song's Cessation (Hux swap)
[ The silence this time is marginally bearable, if still terrifying, if only because he can recognise that it has happened before.
He huddles against the bulkhead, pressing close to the window, as if doing so will allow him to hear the Song he misses.
Softly, he keens, aching for the loss of a part of himself. His skill with music is undiminished, and his voice might wring tears from stone - but the magic is gone, the ever present curl that came with him, that let folk see what he sings of.
Anyone who finds him will also note that he seems diminished - almost fading, the Light that always marked him gone. ]
no subject
M- Maglor, calm... calm down. It's a glitch. This happened to me earlier too. I've got your...
[He's at a loss for what to call it.]
Music. And you have my magic.
[Which is a relieve in and of itself to realize; he's not hearing some warped Calling, he's not going to lose his mind and start growing red crystals from his body. It's just a glitch. It's temporary. Just like having Fenris' lyrium tattoos.]
It's temporary, it's ok.
[He breathes in harshly, breathes out shakily.]
We're ok.

Adalwolfe Hawke | OTA
[At first he'd thought it was just general end-of-shift aches and pains, albeit much stronger than usual. Adalwolfe's now in the second half of his thirties and he's prone to more soreness than he used to be, especially after a night of repetitive motion here at the bar. He rubbed his shoulders, swung his arms, but it isn't until he catches his reflection in the metal of the sink that it set in that this is something entirely different.
He's got Fenris' tattoos.
Adalwolfe jumps back from the counter with a start, letting out a distinctly unmanful yelp as he slips backwards. Luckily he catches himself on the counter behind him. Unluckily, though, he catches himself with his arm phased through the counter, halfway to the elbow, with his fingers braced on the shelf inside the cabinet below and glowing a tell-tale blue throughout.]
Maker's holy toenails, what in the Void is happening?!
b. Man its so loud in here (Maglor swap - middle of the week)
[He's granted a day of respite between glitches or whatever in Andraste's name is going on, likely because he spent the day after having been swapped with Fenris recovering from the experience on the Three Twins. He has cause to be on the Iskaulit again the following day though, and not just for work. Ser Drools can only remain cooped up on the other ship for so long without going a bit stir crazy, so Wolfe brings him to the pet center for a romp and a groom.
The swap this time starts as a vague melody, more like a half-remembered tune than anything invasive and Adalwolfe whistles it unwittingly while tossing a ball for Drools. But the music gets louder and stronger and it's only moments before it drowns out his own thoughts and sets him crouching down with his hands over his ears, wondering wildly if he's going crazy or has contracted the Blight or red Lyrium poisoning or something.
The hands over his ears do nothing but he continues to cover them regardless, crouched and shaking, while Drools lets the ball drop and darts off to retrieve anyone who could potentially be in the area. He's intensely worried, and so anyone in the vicinity is going to get tugged and pushed bodily back towards the animal center, Drools barking in plea.
Help!]
c. How the other half used to live (Riona swap - end of the week)
[It took him longer to recover from having Maglor's powers than from inadvertently borrowing Fenris' but eventually Hawke feels ready to go back to work. Surely these glitches can't still be going on, after all. It's been a week already, and that truth one had only lasted a few hours. He'll be fine.
Or not.
This time it starts with a monstrous appetite, Adalwolfe catching himself munching on the ludicrously presenting bar snacks that are set out for patrons and not employees. He can see the bottom of the bowl (shaped rather avant garde-ly like a giant oyster shell) before he stops himself. While he's not exactly sparing at meals, this is out of the ordinary and makes him wary. Whatever it is, though, it's not so bad. A bit of extra appetite he can handle.
It's the lack of his magic in return that he doesn't know what to do with. He remembers being a child without magic. He remembers being a young teen, angry that he'd been gifted with it at all, but to now not have it at all? He was right in his private thoughts when Anders had lost his briefly to this same glitch earlier in the week; he was glad at the time that it wasn't him.
Serves him right.
For the rest of the day, Hawke tries to go about his business like nothing's amiss, but between the constant urge to keep sticking food in his mouth, the near endless stamina, and the niggling absence of the energy that he can usually feel running just beneath the surface, he's definitely a lot more moody than usual.]
A
There was relief, of course, but the absence felt like a hole ripped out of him. He felt off balance- not right. His entire living memory involved the lyrium, to be without it so suddenly was a loss he couldn't put into words.
Fenris' life is always able to get worse, though. Always. While he's panicking over the sudden loss of his markings (and what that could mean, United Earth did *nothing good* with his abilities, after all) there's a crackle of lighting, which arcs out over his heads and gleefully takes out the lighting system in the bar (sorry Nami). Fenris stares up at it, confused and more than a little horrified. ]
Kaffas!
[Please no no, anything but this. No no no no no. There's another arc of lightning as Fenris makes a run for it right across into Malum- stopping dead when he sees Wolfe. Wolfe with his markings. And for once, he swears in the common tongue, rather than in Tevene. It's one of those days.]

Fenris | OTA
One thing he absolutely did not prepare himself for was suddenly losing his brands. And then he completely didn't prepare for suddenly gaining magic in their stead. These are two things he never, ever prepared for.
And yet, here he is.
People will find him, sans those distinctive tattoos, skulking around the Iskaulit, too fearful to go back to the Tourist for fear of...well, setting it on fire.
Anyone who thinks Fenris is cagey and unpleasant already will find him more so. He hates magic, and makes no secret of it. He's lived in a place where magic was used at its worst, and the mental scars remain from that. To know he has magic now, in him...it makes his skin crawl. Where he should be glad to be free of the constant ache of the lyrium, he is instead disgusted.
He also has zero idea how to control his borrowed magic- so anyone passing by had best duck, lest they narrowly miss getting hit by a stray fireball, or have their feet encased in ice- or perhaps, horribly, be struck with an invisible, telekinetic blast.
Sorry. He really, really doesn't mean it. If him stalking around the place like a caged animal, muttering darkly to himself in a language that sounds a liiitle bit like Latin is anything to go by. ]

Fenris isn't the only warrior who's suddenly found himself having become a mage. Riona's found herself without that which makes her a Warden, and the lack of taint suits her fine, even if it means lesser stamina and appetite. But she was not at all expecting the trade she got in turn for it.
Isolating herself to the ship until she gets her newfound magic under control, Riona quietly stalks around the corridors, trying to watch for any passersby. However, instead of such a person, she finds a fireball flying at her head as she turns a corner.
Screaming, she throws her arms up as a shield... and ends up accidentally shooting out a cone of ice. At least it stopped the fireball?]

Allen Walker | OTA
What the-
[Out of reflex, he lifts his left hand to grab his forehead- or at least tries to. When he realizes he can't feel his left arm anymore, he looks and sure enough- where once was his arm, was now just an empty sleeve waving in the air.
Allen stares with wide eyes at this, while it sinks in what just happened here, and why he was feeling so off]
-- Again?
[He makes a frustrated sound. DAMMIT. HE HATES WHEN THIS STUFF TAKES HIS ARM.]

Kitty | OTA
[Now that Kitty has been promoted to first officer and she's the only pilot on the Windrose and they have a new captain she's been spending more time on the ship, but workouts must happen!
And so she is on the Iskaulit when a weight she's holding starts to glow in a very familiar way.]
...Uh oh.
[Time for things to explode? How does he shut this off?!]

Wrath (OTA)
[A]
[She's in the middle of working out when the gravity starts going away. She doesn't notice quite at first, because she's running fast through the parkour course. But when she almost misses her jump because of overshooting, that definitely catches her attention.
And... it doesn't bother her. It's just fun. Soon, she's floating around the room, giggling wildly.]
I'm flying!
[B]
[ Wrath is innocently working on her mural... anyone get hit by a random power swap? Ever wonder it feels like to be mostly made of military-grade artificial parts? Could be interesting.]
b.
All thought of that is wiped from his mind when he realises he's seeing rather more than he should be. Blinking rapidly doesn't clear the bright reds of the infrared from his eyes, and all of the other information that's suddenly blinking and demanding his attention. This is definitely new, and unwanted.
He backs up until his hand touches a wall, and shuts his eyes tightly. It doesn't clear all the visuals from the air, but one thing at a time. He takes a deep breath, to stave off the skittering nerves of the unknown.]

Mikleo | ota
[The change comes so suddenly that Mikleo, in the middle of fiddling with his comm, trips over something - quite possibly his own feet, such is his shock - and sends the communicator flying. One moment he's himself, content and calm and pleasantly damp after a nice dip in his water tank, and the next he's dropped to his hands and knees because of how wrong everything feels. It's like a sudden wave of vertigo; his balance is off, his sense of the world is a complete mess. The way he feels is always kind of weird thanks to the way elements and nature are in the middle of space (or rather, thanks to the lack of nature messing with his head) but it's more of an absence than an active aggravation until he's near water. He feels longing, rather than discomfort.
But now he's feeling... air. Wait, air? He's not supposed to feel the air, at least not like this. He's severed from that element entirely, neither strong nor weak to it, a neutral opposite of his own. He experiences it the same way a human does, usually. So why can he feel it? The way it flows, the way it brushes over his skin, into his lungs, and around the other bodies moving on the ship? And why can he not feel the water in his own tank nearby? Why does he feel more of an affinity with the plants in the garden beside it, instead, with all the fresh air they-
...oh, hell.]
( part the second: stupid wind seraphim and their stupid no good blessing )
[Round two of this experience is just as startling, but more uncomfortable in another sense- or rather, a lack of sense. When Mikleo goes down, he goes down hard and finds it difficult to get himself back up. His hand reaches out, patting the floor, seeking the comm, seeking the wall, seeking... anything, really. And finding none of it.
He can't see. He may need some help for a little while- to lose such an important sense as well as his sense of self is a harsh experience, indeed.
Those who happen to come near him in this state and find themselves in his good graces (that is, earning his gratefulness by helping him) may also then find themselves experiencing a bit of bad luck, but only in mildly inconvenient ways. Like, "oh no, the toaster didn't pop", or "geez, I forgot that thing I need in another room and have to go get it", or "why do I keep stubbing my toe!?"
In other words, please enjoy Mikleo's very pure-spirited and innocent version of the "Angel of Death" curse. Thanks, Dezel.]
(( resonance permissions as per usual! mikleo's traded water for wind thanks to his fellow seraphim.
assholes))part 2
His eyes are working.
And he is absolutely covered in arctic foxes who are very, very concerned for his well-being.
It's been more than five years since he could use his eyes properly. It's different in the armatus-- filtered through someone whose eyes actually work, so it doesn't feel like noise. But as he lays there, eyes closed, the deadness of the air around him becomes clear. He can't feel the wind anymore, can't control it. He's totally cut off from the wind. Panic rises in the bottom of his stomach as he remembers exactly how it felt to have his wind ripped from him, but as he reaches around him for some kind of life, element, malevolence, anything--
-- something slides into place.
Tiny droplets in the air. The water sitting in the bowls that the foxes drink from. The snow, cold and welcoming beneath him and all around him. The weight of the heavy tongue in his mouth. He hasn't felt dead at all and it's because he's surrounded by his element.
He's... a water seraph? If he's lost his element and gained one, then there's only one explanation. Still squinting, he reaches down to feel for his communicator. It's... strange, seeing how the screen lights up. It's all too bright, so he navigates it by touch as he's used to, and keeps his eyes closed.
He gives Mikleo's communicator a ring, since he doesn't trust himself to walk quite yet. He's sitting up, that's an improvement.]
Mikleo, did you... lose your powers?

raven darkholme | ota
It's not really gradual, like hearing whispers turn into shouts. It's a sudden barrage of thoughts and emotions that overwhelm her and have her falling to her knees. Her skin, once pale and white, transforms into blue and she ends up curled in a ball, eyes squeezed shut with her hands over her ears, trying her best to figure out how she's meant to block it out.
(Someone as familiar with telepaths as she is might recognise the signs, but her mind is shot, falling apart in the wake of human thought attacking her like a whirlwind.)
The thoughts aren't loud, not really, but the sudden onset is enough to make Raven feel a kind of fear she hasn't felt in a while, and she ends up backing herself into a corner, gritting her teeth and trying to focus - no matter how badly it works for her in the end. ]

The Drabwurld had put them through it's fair share of curses and odd things, but it had never done anything like this. True, her powers had been awkward when the moon had been stolen, and she had learned and gained new magic, but swapping powers like this... It didn't seem like something even Solais herself could do. Still...
Most of the time she can be found in the library, trying to see if there's any kind of record anywhere about the type of glitches that the Atroma have put people through before. Otherwise, she's tucked in the small back room of her garden, staring at her cauldron as if it has all the answers to the questions running through her mind. ]

today, he's looking through the bookshelves at the library, trying to find something of interest to fill those quiet hours of the windrose nights (staying there makes him appreciate all the more just how well suited he is for the tourist. sometimes, it feels like margaery is the only person who sleeps on there. and kitty, but she's windrose for a reason!) when he comes across a familiar face. offering her a smile - regular happy to see her mixed with relieved she's still here - he walks over to her. ]

70 years late to the party, Bucky/Winter || OTA
He feels different. Meditation hadn't helped. In fact, he's starting to think he's haunted or having some sort of fever dream. All he wanted to do was stretch. Apparently the simple motion of his arm is enough to send one of the candle holders careening into the opposite wall. ]
...What the hell? [ There was definitely no one else around, right? ]

Though taking in Bucky's expression prompts a response. ]
