[It's your average day on the Iskaulit. Absolutely nothing seems out of place initially, but without any warning- you might find yourself or your friends experiencing some problems. What's up on that?

[You needn't apologize. I am more intrigued than troubled. He'll try to help, drawing her back to her own thoughts when the intrusive buzz becomes too loud.]

In my native tongue, we call this sanwe-latya, or "thought-opening," and it is considered a gift- and one that runs strongly within my family. You know I have some skill in it, I believe. If you wish, I can, perhaps, help.

[She nods, remembering when they rescued Nel and Finrod’s offer to help Daneel. Daneel… Oh, Atroma, you really do have a sense of humor. She’d wanted this, with him, but now it’s far, far too much.]

[He nods, giving a light smile.] Like listening to a single voice above a crowd. That is one way to keep yourself centered; try to focus only on what requires your attention.

[She laughs softly.]

And you are very, very loud. Or... Perhaps that's not the right way to put it. What did Daneel used to say?

[She thinks for a moment, recalling the night of the ball on the polluted moon.]

There's a... texture to your mind that is familiar to me.

[He grins] I like that. I speak often enough about the 'feel' of things; it is fitting.

[She smiles back.] It is, isn't it? I am very sorry you never got to meet him before he left.

Did I not tell you? We did meet once, albeit briefly. [He chuckles] He was mapping the area and I was admiring the stars, as I recall.

[She laughs softly, with a tinge of sadness.]

That sounds like him. Always seeking to be Useful.

[She takes Finrod's hand then and walks him slowly over to one of the benches installed around the garden.]

I'm glad you got to meet him - may I ask what you discussed?

[He walks with her, seating himself on the bench with a light smile.]

Nothing of significance- the night, the stars, exploration. As I said, it was a brief conversation.

[She nods, not sure of what she was expecting from him, but though it wasn't for long, it's still comforting to know two of her favorite people talked to one another. She sighs softly.]

I miss him. Not as much as before I left but...

It is natural. If there is a time after which we stop missing our loved ones, I have not yet found it.

[She squeezes his hand and gives him a soft smile.]

I'm sorry. I don't mean to be... depressing. It's just that this [She gestures to her head, and then between herself and Finrod] is making me think about him more than usual. Maybe it's strange but... I found his empathic abilities comforting.

Perhaps to others it might sound strange; more often than not, people seem to find such things frightening rather than reassuring. But to me, it seems perfectly sensible. To have someone who understands you implicitly is a comforting thing.

Exactly. And... I often feel that with you [She laughs softly.] Even we don't have the telepathic connection normally.

[He practically beams back at her in response.] I feel much the same. Though, if you wish, I might make use of my own abilities more often. Mortals tend to find them alarming and so I tend to use them less than I might normally be inclined.
