[It's your average day on the Iskaulit. Absolutely nothing seems out of place initially, but without any warning- you might find yourself or your friends experiencing some problems. What's up on that?

In other words, it's an Iskaulit mingle with a twist! Come on in everyone! You don't need to interact with Sora to have it effect you, so feel free to start your own threadstarter! Or talk to Sora, that's cool too. ]

[Beverly opens her mouth to protest, but then thinks better of it and simply nods. Nightingale knows more about magic than she does: Beverly trusts her judgment in this. Besides the electricity is building up to an uncomfortable level, so she thrusts both hands towards Nightingale, hoping that will be enough. The Lightning shoots out in an impressive bolt across the room, though its path is a little crooked.]

[Nightingale winces as she takes the bolt, but... Beverly may have someone else's skills, but she herself is no mage. Nightingale, on the other hand, had changed class back to her higher-level Mage class, and equipped the robe she'd gotten from Waldemar, bumping up her magic defense to far higher than it was before. It stings like a motherfucker, but she's tanking it. And she manages to keep a level voice as she explains.]

Calm down. Don't panic. If you're using magic, you should be able to control it. Can you feel it? A sense that you didn't have before, like an extra form of sight, that you can feel the mana you're manipulating with.

[Seeing Nightingale wince in pain alarms her but it also helps her focus, in a strange way. Like when she has to perform an operation or first aid. So she nods and closes her eyes, trying to focus on that... tingling sensation in her hands.]

It's like there's a pressure there, trying to release.

That's it. You should be able to move it. Pull it back. Lightning is an element of surprise and speed, so the more you rush yourself and the more you panic, the more you'll find yourself with that. You've aspected the mana in you, but if you calm yourself and don't focus on it, it will stop.

[Her voice is calm and soothing, like she's trying to walk a child through it. But inside, she's desperately hoping this is going to work the way her own magic does.]

You'll have to expel the aspected mana in the form of a spell, but if you calm yourself, you shouldn't have any more building up.

[Breathing slowly, in, out, in, out. It's fortunate, at the very least, that Beverly so often practices meditation here. She can use those lessons Worf has taught her to her advantage. Nightingale's calmness helps too and though it takes a few minutes, the pressure does begin to subside.

At long last she opens her eyes. There's still energy crackling around her fingers, however. Something must be done about that.]

[She nods, since of course there is. She expected it.]

Throw it at me, and then I'll teach you how to aspect to healing. Or I can drain the rest of the mana. However you want to do this.

[Beverly concentrates on her hands for a moment to see if... yes! The energy swirls together to form another ball, burning more brightly with her excitement. It worked!

Remembering all those years ago when Jack taught her how to play the ancient game of baseball, she lobs the ball of energy in a soft pitch towards Nightingale. Now that she's calmer, the lightning hits Nightingale with a little more accuracy and a little less intensity.]

[She winces again, but then smiles.]

Yeah, like that. You did great.

[And then, quickly, her black robe is replaced by a white one, and she casts Cure, green sparkles appearing around her as she heals.]

How are you feeling now?

[Beverly waits patiently as the sparkles settle, expecting to experience something akin to Nightingale's spell that healed her black eye but so far... Nothing. The weird sensation of mana running through her veins is still there.]

Not... Much different. I'm calmer though so I think it should be okay.... At least for a little while, until we figure out how this happened.

Do you want me to drain out your MP? If I do that, you won't be able to cast until you rest for a while.

Please. If you can.

[She nods, closes her eyes, and casts Drain. It's a simple MP-draining spell, and even if it only gets a bit at a time, she can just keep using it until she gets all of her MP. It shouldn't be a problem, she thinks, since Drain more than pays for itself in cost.]

[Beverly gives a minute but...]

Should I... be feeling something?
