Iskaulit Mingle - Problems with Psychics

Who: Anyone on the Iskaulit!
Broadcast: If you'd like?!
Action: Iskaulit!
When: Today, as Sora's augment glitch starts.

[It's your average day on the Iskaulit. Absolutely nothing seems out of place initially, but without any warning- you might find yourself or your friends experiencing some problems. What's up on that?

In other words, it's an Iskaulit mingle with a twist! Come on in everyone! You don't need to interact with Sora to have it effect you, so feel free to start your own threadstarter! Or talk to Sora, that's cool too. ]

[She winces at that. Ouch!]

How long have you been up there?
notanoptimist: (ehhhh...)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-11-27 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives a one-shouldered shrug. Getting smacked in the face by the floor is not the worst that's happened.]

A few minutes. I just caught myself before you happened along. [He's inching toward where she's standing, really not looking forward to what's certain to be a bit of an awkward transition.] At least it's not the first time I've had to deal with a malfunction like this.

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-11-28 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
[She watches him inch along for a moment, her brow furrowed with concern.]

Perhaps... maybe I could find something to tether you?
notanoptimist: (heaven help me)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-11-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Or... I could just get it over with and fly over there. [Let's face it: he's being slow because he doesn't want to accidentally land on his face again. Or anything else that might hurt.

Some fearless Starfleet officer, huh?]
dancingmd: (gross)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-11-28 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
And if you judge incorrectly? You could end up on the ceiling instead.
notanoptimist: (i told you not to do the thing)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-11-28 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
[He looks up at the ceiling even as he tries very hard not to drift toward it.] Knowing me, I probably would. Let's just... Let's get this over with. I'm gonna be sick if stay over here much longer.

[No one wants that.]
dancingmd: (wonder)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-11-29 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's still not 100% sure about this plan but he seems pretty determined, so she takes a deep breath in an attempt to prepare her for whatever comes next.]

Okay.
notanoptimist: (ehhhh...)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-01 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't look so doubtful, Beverly. Intrepid explorer spirit up here, right? Right. Don't look down, Bones.

It's just a matter of physics. Push off in the right direction and momentum should take care of the rest. (He probably should have figured out where, exactly, the edge of this gravity-less patch is. He has a good general idea. Probably should have nailed it down, come to think of it. Which he does think of it, just about as he hits the edge of it and gravity happens again.)

Fortunately for him -- or unfortunately, depending on how one looks at it, McCoy has a lot of experience in falling. So sudden jolt toward the deck? Tuck and roll as gracefully as possible -- it's not, by the way -- and avoid an actual faceplant.

At least he missed landing on Beverly? But he does end up on the ground pretty much in front of her feet.]

I'm never doing that again.

[So he says. It'll probably hit him again next week, with his luck. He's pretty sure all he's got here in a bruised kneecap. But he's on the ground and not floating.

Small victories.]
dancingmd: (concerned)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-12-03 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Primarily he misses because she jumps out of the way with a small alarmed sound. But as soon as he lands she's kneeling by his side, her hand resting on his shoulder.]

Where does it hurt?
notanoptimist: (head tilt)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-04 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
[He rolls onto his back, somewhere between laughing and sighing.] I dunno. Where's my pride? [He waves a hand, goes to sit up.] I'm fine.
dancingmd: (tricorder)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-12-05 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe, but she's still running the tricorder over him, just to be safe. Fortunately, there's only a little bruising, nothing worse.]

I won't tell anyone. [Grin.] Especially not Jim.
notanoptimist: (heaven help me)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm usually on that side of the tricorder. [The tricorder even looks different. He sits up, sighs, and looks down the hallway. Looks innocuous enough. He knows better, intimately.] Especially not Jim, yeah. Thank you. That's the last thing I want to deal with.

[He'd never let him live it down.]
dancingmd: (smile)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-12-05 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Strange feeling, isn't it? [She snaps the tricorder closed and tucks it into her pocket.] But then everything about our situation is strange.

[Not the least of which being the fact that the last time she met Dr. McCoy, he was an elderly man puttering around her sickbay on the Enterprise-D, passing along his wisdom - as well as grumpy proclamations about the old days.]
notanoptimist: (Default)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-08 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
[That sounds about right, honestly.

Actually, no. He'd be surprised to find out he lives that long.

He pushes himself to his feet and shakes his head.]
Here I thought nothing could surprise anymore.
dancingmd: (coffee and croissants)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-12-09 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
When I stop being surprised, then I'll know it's time to retire.
notanoptimist: (Default)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-09 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[He snorts. Honestly, some days he'd like to retire.] So I guess we're watching our step. It's never just one malfunction.
dancingmd: (chinhands)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-12-11 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
No, though honestly, this is relatively mild, compared to some other things they've done.
notanoptimist: (Default)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-11 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's brushing imaginary dust from his sleeves, straightening his shirt, as he answers that.] Do I want to know?
dancingmd: (pursed lips)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-12-12 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[She raises her eyebrows.]

How does uncontrollable tap dancing sound to you?
notanoptimist: (i'm not seeing this)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-12 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely horrific.

[And he does, yes, sound horrified.]
dancingmd: (coffee and croissants)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-12-12 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dryly:] A fun day, let me tell you.
