[It's your average day on the Iskaulit. Absolutely nothing seems out of place initially, but without any warning- you might find yourself or your friends experiencing some problems. What's up on that?

In other words, it's an Iskaulit mingle with a twist! Come on in everyone! You don't need to interact with Sora to have it effect you, so feel free to start your own threadstarter! Or talk to Sora, that's cool too. ]

Hah, that doesn't seem calm to me.

[He says it gently, like someone would tease a sibling. This whole thing, like with Fenris earlier, puts him in mind of Bethany trying to learn to master her magic.]

Breathe with my counts, in for five then out for five.

[He counts down to five several times in succession, always evenly, forcing Beverly to breathe at a measured pace. As he does he carefully reaches out and touches her wrist gingerly, ready to direct the magic elsewhere if necessary so the poor jukebox or the remaining lights or - Maker forbid - the hull doesn't get shocked if she doesn't hold her focus.]

[The counting helps, gives her something else to focus on, other than the strange humming in her veins. Her breathing slows considerably and the ball of light begins to dim.

Unfortunately, when he touches her, she's startled and it'll send a small shock through him. She winces.]

[He winces, gritting his teeth a moment, but still forces a smile to show her its alright and he's fine. But Maker, that hurt. More than it should have. He blames the lyrium tattoos.]

It's alright, just a shock.

[He lets go, ready to move again should she lose control but he has a feeling she won't, not with help.]

Try to think of magic like emotions, alright? You can't help feeling them, but you can control how you express them. Does that make sense?

[She gives him a small tight smile. It sounds like something Deanna would tell her.]

It does. But a lot easier said than done, right?

[He laughs a little as he says it, smile crinkling the corners of his eyes.]

Each person's magic does tend to lend itself towards something in particular, sort of how people have specific dispositions. Someone who is generally happy can get sad or angry, but they tend to oscillate back to happy eventually. It's the same with magic and how it's used. Anders' magic specifically, which I'm sure is what you're dealing with here, it's wont to help and heal. To close wounds and ease pain. And you're a doctor yourself, aren't you?

[There's a tiny spark again, echoing her reaction to that name. Clearly it means something to her.]

How did I get his powers? We haven't... I haven't even seen him in a long time.

[Not this one anyway.]

It seems like anyone on the Iskaulit at the same time might be effected, and he visits me or the garden quite a lot. You might not have passed each other and just been on the ship at the same time.

[He quirks an eyebrow at her, a bit curious about her having a reaction stronger than recognition.]

It can't have been too long though, right? He's only been in the fleet a month longer than I have.

[It seems that remains the same - Hawke and Anders, through different universes, always together.]

No, not him, not your Anders. From a parallel universe of Thedas. Like you and Marian. We were friends here and I haven't... I don't want to put any expectations on him.

[wolfehawke]

[Not always the case, especially considering Marian and Fenris, but if Beverly ever pointed out that there was another pair of them together he might take some joy in it.]

Oh, I see. Well, no wonder Atroma nabbed us, if they've already seen how entertaining Anders can be.

[He snorts at his own stupid joke.]

That's kind of you though, to try not to pressure him. They're still the same person though, even if they're different? It's complicated. I mean, Marian and I are obviously different from each other, and your Garrett that you told me about too, but there's similarities there too. I've sort of found the only way to deal with it is to embrace it.

Perhaps. [She smiles sadly.] But it will never be the same.

[wolfehawke]

No, and I'm not saying it would be. I'm not explaining this right.

[He runs his fingers through his beard for a moment, thinking.]

I just mean that whatever it was that made the Anders you first met a good friend is still there. A friendship with my Anders would be different, but he's still the same person with those same qualities that formed your friendship in the first place.

[Adalwolfe lets out a small bemused huff.]

I get how hard it is, though. There's someone here in the fleet that in my world? He's... gone. And it's my fault. Befriending him here instead doesn't change what happened, but it gives insight. I guess.

[A pause.]

Well that's not really the same thing, but it's related anyway. You know what I'm trying to say, I hope.

[He doesn't blame her if she doesn't. He barely knows what he's trying to say anymore.]

[She smiles gently and the sparks die down, for the most part.]

Ok good, because my Anders is definitely worth knowing.

[He smiles, maybe a bit soppy, then looks at her hands.]

Looks like you've got it more under control now.

[dancingmd]

[She has to smile at that lovestruck expression on his face as she nods in answer. Focusing on something else besides magic going haywire is helpful.]

You know, you were together then too. The other Hawke and Anders, I mean.

[wolfehawke]

Is that so?

[Adalwolfe blinks at the new information, pleased to hear it even if he's not terribly surprised. Marian's predilection towards the broody elf was a bit more baffling; Adalwolfe just assumes that Anders is The One for any version of himself that's actually a himself and can't quite understand his female counterpart's choice. Hawke and Anders just rolls off the tongue better, to his mind. Or heart. Either one.]

It sounds like your friend Garrett had fine taste, then.

[She laughs.]

Very.
