Iskaulit Mingle - Problems with Psychics

Who: Anyone on the Iskaulit!
Broadcast: If you'd like?!
Action: Iskaulit!
When: Today, as Sora's augment glitch starts.

[It's your average day on the Iskaulit. Absolutely nothing seems out of place initially, but without any warning- you might find yourself or your friends experiencing some problems. What's up on that?

In other words, it's an Iskaulit mingle with a twist! Come on in everyone! You don't need to interact with Sora to have it effect you, so feel free to start your own threadstarter! Or talk to Sora, that's cool too. ]

[McCoy echoes her frown, reaching out to test the 'walls' around him for himself. There's an anxiety running up his spine, coiling in his gut, because trapped is not a good feeling anywhere.]

Yeah, outta nowhere. I just walked through here a few minutes ago and there was nothing.

There's definitely SOMETHING going on here. I was in the garden earlier, and the lights kept going out whenever I passed them. But I don't see any connection between that and... THIS.

Other than they're both weird? [McCoy snorts and presses a palm against the not-wall.] This is ridiculous.

Mmhmm. I'm going to go with the standard "blame Atroma" explanation. Clearly someone's bored, so they're screwing with us. Are you hurt?

My pride's more bruised than my nose. I'm fine. [He waves a hand. No big deal.] I guess I'll just have to wait it out.

Okay... [Jennifer started turning away, but she hesitated.] I feel a little awkward just leaving you here. ... do you want some company?

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-11-28 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I would not say no to some company. [He leans against the wall, arms crossed and tries not to glare at an invisible wall.] I won't keep you if you've places to be, though.

Nothing urgent. [Jennifer sat down on the floor cross-legged, facing him.] I was going to check on the first aid stations and the surgery center, but I don't think any of them have been used in months, so it can wait. And if there's a crisis in the next hour or so, well, at least I have supplies on me.

[After a moment's worth of testing walls, McCoy finds that he does have enough room to sit down on the floor, knees drawn up and back leaning against the bulkhead. Thankfully. He doesn't have to just stand there awkwardly forever.

He can sit here awkwardly forever instead. Small mercies.]

That's where I was headed. I've been over there a couple times, but I want to be acclimated.

Glad to hear it. As far as I know, Beverly and I were the only actual doctors here after Simon left, so I'm happy to have you on board. We have a few people I've been giving first-aid training to, some that have formal medical training, and some with healing magic, but I'm still not 100% convinced we're not going to have a mass casualty event at some point. I'd just like for us to be as prepared as possible.

This many people in one place -- one small fleet, really -- some mass casualty event is bound to happen. Anything from alien attacks to alien diseases. Those are fun. Do you have a roster of who's on what ship with what training?

[personal profile] forsometimenow 2016-12-02 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I've dealt with disease outbreaks before. It's always a trip.

[She shook her head.]

I did, but it's out of date since people have a tendency to come and go unexpectedly. Another thing to add to my agenda, though- I want to be prepared. Thus far, Atroma seems to have liked us being hale and hearty, but who knows when they'll change their minds?

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-02 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
So've I. It's time like those that I wonder why I thought pathology would be fun.

[He presses his lips together, nods.] I can help you keep track. I'd like to at least know if we at least have one person capable of handling emergencies on each ship. If we don't, then we need to know who to send where when and if things go haywire.

[Because, hey, doesn't trust Atroma.]
forsometimenow: (*le siiigh*)

[personal profile] forsometimenow 2016-12-03 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jennifer giggled.]

And I ask myself why I thought moving to another galaxy would be a good career move, then lament not opening a clinic in Chippewa Falls and being done with it. But on the other hand, life would've been comparatively boring.

[But then she turned serious.]

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure we don't- unless there's a person with the correct augment on board, ships don't even come pre-equipped with a medbay. They do have a basic medical kit, but not proper facilities. I WANTED to open a clinic here on the Iskaulit, but... supplies and funding are huge issues we haven't been able to work around.

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-04 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Boring's underrated, really. [Says the guy who left a career in Atlanta for Starfleet.]

Yeah, that's a problem. Nothing we can't get around, if we have transportation between ships. Having someone on the Islaulit would be ideal but... those aren't easy holes to fill.
forsometimenow: (withdrawn)

[personal profile] forsometimenow 2016-12-05 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
No kidding. But at the same time... I love my job, and it helped me find my place in the sun.

[She nodded.]

And then there'd be the logistics of keeping drugs and equipment and such locked up. It'd do us no good to have a clinic if the person with the keys was two hours' shuttle ride away. But I'll get on compiling that list of people with medical skills. I've also been providing first aid lessons to those willing to learn. It doesn't feel like it's enough, but... I have to acknowledge that I'm only one person, too.
notanoptimist: (Default)

[personal profile] notanoptimist 2016-12-08 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs. She might just be one person, but so are they all.] More than one person can have a set of keys. I can teach people first aid, but they might not appreciate my methods.

[Because cranky as hell.] It's better than doin' nothing, that's for sure.
forsometimenow: (:3)

[personal profile] forsometimenow 2016-12-09 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, so long as they learn the information, it might be worth trying. Having different people who have their own perspectives and experiences teaching lessons might help.

[She sighed.]

It is. Allen on the Blue Fish holds a blood drive every now and then, too. So we're working and preparing as best we can with the tools and resources we have available.
