[he flips one of the books open and idly thumbs brought the pages. he'll let her get away with the subject change. . . for now. but don't think he's forgotten]

Detective or spy novels seem too obvious, and yet.

[makes a face at "detective," but truthfully, he likes those too. not that he's admitting to it aloud]

You're close. I like crime and spy novels, too. Some fantasy titles are also pretty good. Clover 'n I used to read books about a wizard thief together back in Kyriakos.

I mean, a lot of weird stuff happens here, but I've never seen someone get randomly hit in the face by water. Maybe the universe just likes mocking you.
