[The waystations are more interesting to Erik than the planet itself, purely because of their composition. He's always going to be drawn towards metal, and this place thrives off scrap. On occasion he ventures out into the scrap dealers' stores, taking note of what's available, and what's in demand. From there, he begins to trade. You might find him discussing the trade value of a few corroded sheets of steel in one place, or examining collections of screws in another. Over a period of days he starts trading upwards; refining a piece he gets from one seller, then trading it for better quality goods at the next.]
b. don't bring a knife to a mutant fight
[Unfortunately, Erik's trading catches the attention of some less than savoury characters. One of them follows Erik through the crowd after he leaves a store, switchblade hidden up his arm. When he gets within three feet of Erik, the man whips out the blade, intending to press it into the small of his back and demand his credits.
He doesn't get nearly that far. In a moment Erik comes to a total halt, back stiffening, and he whirls around. Slashing a hand through the air, he wrenches the iron roof off a nearby stall and sends it smashing into the crook. He goes flying into an empty food cart with a scream, roof and all, and everyone in the area gasps and draws back. After a moment, the would-be assailant wriggles his way out of the crumpled cart and flees into the crowd.
Erik stays motionless, breathing hard like he's just run a mile. Someone in the crowd laughs, and that breaks the spell, everyone moving again and going about their business. Erik looks around at them, noting the glances that come his way. The fallen switchblade jumps into his hand, almost an afterthought. Anyone witnessing that little display has a few moments to catch him before he disappears himself.]

Wrath
While Vision is still asleep, she mostly stays on the Windrose and only goes off duty when sleeping. But once her captain is awake again, she begins to disappear for extended periods of time on the waystations, not telling anyone where she's going.]
A: Legitimate Excuse
[She does do a bit of trade, or at least locating resources that she can later refer to the captain. She's mostly looking for weapons and armor; it might seem unnecessary, but it's her place of comfort. It's what she understands best. She does shop a bit for paint, however. It's the most relaxed she gets.]
B: Looking for Trouble
[Like in the previous system, but worse. She's drinking wherever she can find rotgut, in the hopes that it'll actually make it past her synthetic liver. She's picking fights, or occasionally picking people up for other activities. Seedy establishments, or in an alley, whatever she's doing is really not a good idea.]
C: The Worst Happens
[After an extended absence--one that involves a missed duty shift, something she never normally skips--she's wandering through the corridor of one of the waystations. Her walk isn't quite drunken, but not entirely steady. Her right hand rests lightly against the wall to guide her. Something seems to be... not quite right with her left arm.
Wrath's hair is in stiff disarray, with cemented on a few patches with dried blood. The upper half of her normal jumpsuit hangs limp and in ribbons made with precise cuts; she's wearing someone else's shirt instead. A combat knife is tucked into the waistband of her pants, ready to be drawn. Her expression is cold, blank, something perhaps recognizable by those who know her well as extreme anger.
And she can't seem to find her goddamn shuttle. Where the hell did she leave it?]
D: Choose Your Own Adventure
[Something a little more light-hearted? A fun dinner in a weird place or a walk with a friend down a crowded corridor? Her friends always do seem to cheer her up.]

So at the first flashing glimpse past a stand of something lurching along, ragged and bloody and crooked-limbed? He starts back, catches himself on the wall to keep-upright-step-turn-steady-run and he's halfway through the movement, still staring back in naked fear, before his brain completely places that face.
He freezes, because it feels like he might be seeing things. And he can't tell where the clenching of fading panic ends and nauseated dread begins, when she keeps walking forward, mechanical.]
Wrath? [He gets his legs back under himself, and forces them to step closer, voice rising.] Wrath, what the hell-

He was surprised to find what looked like a short sword or longer dagger. These kinds of weapons were considered antiques even by the time of the Old Republic so he had never learned to use a weapon like this. He held the dagger up, not sure what he was looking for but it was still tempting to buy even if he didn't know how to properly use it yet.
He glanced over at the woman who was inspecting the goods at the same stand he was, wondering what else the vendor had that he could actually use.]

[Kaylee liked her new home, but it was still good to get out of it for a bit and explore. When she WAS there and not sleeping, though, she could be found tinkering in the engine room. It's... most likely going to be a huge mess, with parts and tools and things scattered all over.]
B. Scrapping
[On this station, Kaylee was in her element. Not really heeding the warnings to not travel alone, she took the opportunity to explore everywhere she could, looking for parts she could both set aside for her own ship just in case, and stuff she could sell on the market. Part of her even half hoped she'd run into the crew here, and that she'd just be able to get on Serenity and go home... so every now and then she could be found staring wistfully at all the surrounding ships and people, looking for her crew.]

[However, she didn't have much success trying to bargain for supplies or tools in the markets. Some of the people she dealt with seemed to think she was a silly girl who just liked the look of overalls and a wrench, rather than the experienced mechanic she was.]

[Though Al was not a neat freak by any means, he was a little taken aback at how disordered and dangerous this waystation could be, and how heedless the people who had taken up residence here were about it.
He tried to tell himself to not interfere too much- obviously, they were happy here, if this is how they kept their living space. But then he remebered that Atroma had hold the Fleet not to interfere with the places they visited, and he realized that sometimes, he just felt like being a contrary brat.
So he spent some time walking around and fixing things with his alchemy- tucking in a sharp corner here, removing a tripping wire or protrusion there.]
B. I don't get paid enough for this
[Al had heard the rumors about the station being unsafe, but he felt that between his alchemy and his martial arts skills- as well as his Security augment- he could take care of himself. However, he soon found himself in potential hot water as he saw a gang of men who seemed to be getting ready to snatch a child playing near a food stall.
Transmuting a cable from some nearby discared wires, he sized up the situation, pondering whether or not to interfere.]

Fenris | OTA
[The planet really does nothing for Fenris. It makes his markings ache, and he has zero inclination to go anywhere with an excess of magic of any kind. As such, he's giving it a wide berth. Still, he can only walk the halls of the Iskaulit or stay on the Tourist for so long, so eventually he heads out to the Waystations to wander aimlessly.
He can be found walking around, examining various pieces of scrap metal and other assorted junk, a grimace on his face. He's really, really not impressed. This is where they have to stay for a month? ]
This place is a mess.
B: Hell to your doorstep (TW: Blood, murder, and everything terrible that goes with slavery
[The Fleet has been here for about a week now. Perhaps you found yourself on this particular part of a waystation in search of a rare machine part, or perhaps you got lost in the labyrinthine corridors - perhaps there's another reason you're here.
Maybe you even heard the frightened whispers between the shady individuals who have made their homes here. Talk of some ghost that comes from nowhere and deals in nothing but death to select members of their community.
However you ended up here, you'll come across one of those shady individuals and Fenris. The elf has the man's shirt clenched in one hand, the slaver's back shoved against a wall. Nothing but rage emanating from Fenris, as his lyrium tattoos begin to glow. The man is stammering in a panic, offering credit, ships, anything!!! Fenris doesn't seem to be interested in listening, though.

So her surprise is considerable when she turns the corner and finds Fenris just about ready to kill this man he has in his hand. Riona stumbles to a halt, eyes wide as she takes in the scene.]

[It doesn't take him long after setting foot on the waystation to get the feel of the place. It's not just the ramshackle appearance or the cramped claustrophobic darkness of it, but also the feel of the people who populated it. People who would do anything to get by. The dressing is different, but he knows the atmosphere like a swift kick to the stomach. He dislikes it immediately but understands it more than a man with a gentlemanly mien should.
But this isn't Pharoahlight and it isn't the Arcane, where anyone there would be foolish to mess with a wizard from the Mirador. Here, his position means nothing, and his lack of reputation cannot shield him. So he acts accordingly. He dresses down, leaves every bit of his jewelry on the ship save for a single pair of earrings, and then waits in one of the central areas for anyone in the from the fleet to happen by]

[Escort or not, Felix does what he came here to do: shop. The machinery aren't what he's interested in, however, but what can be done with some of the other scrap floating about. Their other dubious qualities aside, he at least has to hand it to the residents for their ingenuity. The market for furniture on the station isn't large, but it takes only a little talking to find the people who might be able to build him something that would serve his purposes.
Thus, he can be found somewhere in the depths of the station bartering with the shopkeepers, browsing through collections of baubles like lighting fixtures or salvaged art, or showing someone a sketched diagram of a shelf or cabinet as he gestured about. You might even catch him paying for his purchases by handing over a box of assorted dry food goods he'd borrowed from the Starstruck's kitchen.]

[Adalwolfe had been lost in his own thoughts and hadn't noticed his fellow mage standing aside the main thoroughfare back to the docks. He'd only intended to step onto the station for a moment, but it seems he'd run into more of his usual sort of trouble here than he'd encountered in his entire stay in the fleet thus far. Honestly he thought being in a more futuristic version of Kirkwall's lower districts would make him feel at home, but all it really did was make him remember all the things he disliked; slavers, thugs, and the smell of desperation. The same guilt he'd had over reaching nobility when few other Ferelden reugees achieved it in Kirkwall gnaws at him here. Why is he so lucky, not having to scramble for the mearest morsel of food?]

[He smiles, a bit forced at first but it relaxes into something genuine as he's able to switch gears and afford Felix the full measure of his attention that's not turned towards a general perceptiveness that keeps someone alive in places like this.]

[Vash is not happy with some of the actions of the scavengers and smugglers. He has no issues really with a bit of stealing and smuggling. It was a daily occurrence on Gunsmoke. It's the kidnapping and slavery he takes great offense to.
So time to ruin their day.
Perhaps your character has spotted Vash "captured" but some kidnappers. Maybe Vash is helping to save your character. Maybe your character can be in the right place and time to see Vash not making a complete fool of himself fighting a few people and doing a dramatic hero type rescue.
Or maybe, just maybe, Vash is the one getting in the way of your character from killing a slaver or other unsavory sort of person. He has no problem with these people getting hurt, but killing is too far.]
B. Three Twins
[The less than reputable sort found at the way stations haven't been anything Vash can't easily take care of. The problem comes when they overestimate their own abilities and end up in danger of hurting or getting themselves killed.
Which is why one late night Vash returns to the ship with blood dripping down his right arm and a black eye. He's dealt with much worse cuts back home and can easily take care of this.
So he'll make his way to the infirmary to grab a few supplies to patch himself up. Surely with several healer types and a few animals around he shouldn't have any issue patching himself up without being interrupted in the slightest!]

Home, but not home. If there was such a thing. It reeks of desperation, in the deeper darker places that he so often visits for cheap and easy purchases. One may see him throwing another man into a window — mostly because he had been trying to make a grab for Max's old mixed mutt, Rock, probably out of want for a juicy dog steak.
Max isn't going to say he hasn't eaten animal before, but nobody will be kidnapping his dog, a-thank you very fucking much. The scavenger scrambles away with blood running down his face and shirt, and Max is appeased.
Max can also be found purchasing from the shops, wandering any bars, and generally just moving in to get any work he can, his trusty dog eagerly at his side. Our weary wanderer might actually help you out, if he knows you — say, if someone is trying to drug you and steal your loot at the pubs, or if they're getting geared up to corner you.
He finds he's unfortunate enough to care about, um. Most of you.

[This is Gemini's first waystation and she's rather enjoying the sleazy ambience of the place. It reminds her of the Gotham underworld back home with the near total lack of law and order, of course the Batman held Gotham in check but the denizens of this station aren't so lucky it seems.
She's playing one of her favourite games now, one that involves wearing a very short form hugging dress and wandering alone into some of the seedier parts of the station. It's only a matter of time until she picks up a shadow, six foot tall and heavily muscled. When he grabs her she screams, struggles 'ineffectually' in his grip and discreetly sharpens a finger into a silvery razor sharp point. This is the part she enjoys... providing nobody interferes.]
B) The Muscle
[It quickly gets annoying being approached by every seller on the station, so soon after she arrives Gemini shifts into the form of one of the locals. The body is big and imposing and many of the locals are clearly scared of him and shy away as she wanders through what passes for the main market, she's chosen well it seems.]

[Aria is no stranger to barter in place of money, and lacking in credits as she is, it's about the only way she's managing to get anything. The problem is, she also doesn't have much in the way of material possessions, leaving her unable to get much of anything.
Still, she found what seems to be a pot of some kind of oil that she really wants, but the merchant is telling her it costs a lot of money. Shrewd observers will notice it's like ten times what the oil is worth. She's getting totally ripped off, but doesn't seem to realize.]

[She hasn't noticed the slave trade yet. But her ears are far better than a normal human's, and she hears whispers that say less than pleasant things. Many, in fact, are directed at her. For the most part, she ignores it, until some unfortunate rogue makes the mistake of grabbing her by the tail with a nasty comment.
Short version, after some argument, she kicked that man in the chin with enough force to lift him clear off the ground. On the other hand, she's now surrounded by five others with knives and guns. This looks worrying.]

[Aria still has no idea how to swim, or even what to do to learn, but Ochako said she needed special clothes for it, right? So, as promised, she's waiting for Ochako by one of the rare junk shops that sells a lot of clothing.]

[Hank was the type to pick up whatever looked necessary - whether immediately or somewhere down the line, so the waystation drew most of his attention. The shadiness of the whole place did put him a little on edge, but what really got him was the bartering.
He was terrible at it, plain and simple. These people were pros and here he was, unable to be firm enough or whatever else it takes the bargain for a lower price. It doesn't necessarily mean he can't get those lower prices - he just has to be creative about it. At least he's decent at trading some of the stuff he already had]
b. violence, kind of
[unfortunately, not even someone like Hank can out-maneuver some of the downsides of the waystation. He tries to, of course; he isn't one for violence if he can avoid it, and boy does he try. You might catch him side-stepping an attempt and just continuing on his way, for example.
On the other hand, some of the locals are a little more stubborn. Hank tries his best to avoid it all, but - sometimes he just gives him and grabs someone, slamming them against the wall of a stall. He doesn't hurt them, per say - it's more to startle them, especially considering that he's a skinny nerdy guy who doesn't look capable of it.

The red one, what is it? [Monty's becoming somewhat frustrated with this merchant and his wares. The trinkets had looked interesting enough, and he'd received a surprisingly handsome payment for his recent credit allowance--he likes to think it's because he's been charming. He wants to spent it on food or trinkets to give to Renart and Espio, but when the man won't actually promote what he's selling...] Is it collapsible tea set? That's all I really want to know.
[The man waves his hands and mumbles something that Monty can't understand. More than a bit annoyed at being told to be off like some beggar at an applecart, the young gentleman turns and starts to stalk off... directly into someone else.]

B. A Daring Rescue (closed to Espio)
[The man in front of Monty is quite large, as are his companions. In his efforts to hunt out better deals, he's tracked his way into the less savory sections of the waystation. Squalor isn't something he's unused to, whether at home or in Between. It had been a gradual transition. And now here he is, with three large men who seem to have taken an interest in blocking his path. He'd only run into the one and promptly made an about face to go back the way he'd come, only to find the other two standing in his way.]
I'd like to get through, if you please, sirs.
[The first places a hand on his shoulder, and every fighting instinct flares up bright and hot in Monty's mind.
The brute behind him speaks in a gruff voice:]
Think you better come with us, son. Reckon you'll make a decent ransom for someone in that fleet just pulled in.

[As fun as the planet is to adventure around on, it's the waystations that have most of Kirito's attention for a while. He's still shopping around for scraps and parts for his various projects, so he can be found all over the place, sifting through junk boxes, arguing with shophands over pricing, carting boxes and bags of various bits and pieces back to the shuttle. He's a very busy guy this month, but he sure looks like he's enjoying himself.]

[There may not be much to find here in the way of fresh food, but Kirito has never been one to shy away from adventure in the weird-new-food department. On occasion he takes a break from his shopping misadventures to park himself at one of the various meal carts and order whatever looks to be the strangest foods on the menu. Bizarre, out-there flavour combinations? Unnatural colours? Heck yeah he's trying it out. It may not look appealing, and it might even taste terrible, but life is an adventure, and he's here to earn that EXP.]
