Why'd You Kill the Merchant?!

Who: ALL O' Y'ALL
Broadcast: If you want
Action: FRICK YEAH PARTY AT THE JUNKYARD...I mean, Waystation. Junkstation.
When: 10/07 - Event End

It looks more like a junk heap than a waystation, but luckily there aren't any math fetishists to add you to the pile (hopefully). Talk to the scavengers and heed their warnings...if you want. Or perhaps you'll approach a shady individual for purchasing or selling stuff.

"Welcome, stranger!"
stefanged: (that's rough buddy)

Right. I wouldn't put it on the same level as your project.

[Stefan's not even saying that to be nice; while the projector is well-made, it's to facilitate academic discussion, not host a movie night or three.]

But if it's like a projector that you'd find there, I know what it looks like, and I can find the parts faster.
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (don't treat this lightly)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-10-19 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[That's a relief, so Kirito relaxes a bit, nodding thoughtfully. It wouldn't be the end of the world - the Iskaulit is big enough and there's enough people that two theaters wouldn't be a bad thing - but it's still a lot of work he'd hate to see go to waste.]

Yeah... okay, in that case, just look for whatever you can find related to that. It can't hurt to have spare parts in case anything breaks in the future, either. And projector parts can be useful for the robots, too- Anakin has some droids that do holographic projection, and that's something I haven't tried yet.
stefanged: (well okay then)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-21 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Got it.

[Stefan pauses, holding his hands out and mimicking a projector's lens as he tries to imagine a holographic projection. He can't quite picture it.]

Wait, holographic projection? Like in sci-fi movies..? [He waves a hand, as if mind-wiping someone.] This isn't the droid you're looking for?
huaaaaagh: (I just miss asuna's cooking)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-10-22 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Kirito tilts his head slightly at the quote; it sounds like it ought to be familiar, but nothing comes immediately to mind.]

Well... I was more into fantasy than sci-fi, but yeah, more or less. Images appearing in the air, full body camera, stuff like that.
stefanged: (kinda hopeful)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-24 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hunh. That would be cool.

[He peers into the box, just to gauge how much more it can hold.]

I didn't watch much sci-fi either, but my brother really loved Space Wars. I must've seen that movie like, ten times.
huaaaaagh: (i'll hear you out for a while.)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-10-24 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... yeah, we saw a couple of those in theaters when I was really little. I don't remember much about them- I just remember my sister crying because she was too young to go.
stefanged: (headtilt)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-24 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You might've liked them, actually. They're ultimately family drama, like Greek tragedy-level family drama, but the droids and the fights were amazing.

[Stefan may not love sci-fi the way others might've, but he can still appreciate a well-made film.]

But yeah, I'm sure whatever you and Anakin'll work on will be just as great.
huaaaaagh: (fine then. let's do it!)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-10-27 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
You've pinged my interest a bit... wonder if it's possible to find a supercut of the good parts.

[He would watch the heck out of good fight scenes.]
stefanged: (kinda hopeful)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-28 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe! Someone might've downloaded it to their phone, and if that came with them...

[He shrugs.] I know I've got music and stuff that I still listen to.
huaaaaagh: (everyone uses it though)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-10-30 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was going to set up the projector to work with media on the network. Just plug your comm in and bam, you can watch on the screen.

[Ideally with as little fiddling as possible.]
stefanged: (rare smile)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-31 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
That would be really cool.

[Stefan's not a movie person, but a part of him misses the ease and comfort that the Marsiva had offered them.]

I think Ahsoka's file was a movie like Space Wars. Don't quote me, since it's been a while, but it's better than nothing.
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (i mean sometimes i miss it)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-10-31 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll look it up. I've seen a lot of stuff on the network, but I was never that into movies back home. I like the interactive stuff. Er, obviously.

[His fixation on video games is well known by now.]
stefanged: (slow smile)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-01 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
I can't blame you. Seems like you get more out of something when you get to move the story along yourself.

[He may not completely understand said fixation, but y'know. Kirito's cool, thus video games are too.]
huaaaaagh: (yes hi i'm definitely listening!!)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-11-02 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's pretty much it. If I'm not an active part of whatever's going on, I'm more likely to space out or fall asleep in the middle of it.

[Movie nights on the Paisley were kinda rough sometimes. At least he doesn't snore?]
stefanged: (well okay then)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-04 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. All this time, I just assumed you were staying up late....

[Not that Stefan minded, but wow. He sure was running on a false assumption this whole time.]

If we find a console, could we put that on the projector too?
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (....I'm sorry? will that work?)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-11-05 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha... let's say column A, column B.

[Really depends on the night and the media content.]

That's the idea, though I might have to rig up something to make them communicate. Nothing we find is standardized except the network itself, so it's tricky to make everything talk. That's actually one more reason why I needed the computer.
stefanged: (making faces)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-07 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Atroma's gotta be doing that on purpose. You're not the first person to tell me about tech issues - Aunt Beverly said it took forever to get a surgery center up and running on the Iskaulit.

[Video games fall under a hobby, but surgery is a tad bit more important - and Stefan's wondering how it all connects.]
huaaaaagh: (well okay maybe food too)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-11-08 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Geez, I can imagine. It more or less comes down to having to make connectors rather than try to find existing ones that might work. And that in itself isn't so complicated- or it wouldn't be, if we actually had the parts.

Hence the scavenger hunt.
stefanged: (gentle glance)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-08 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Sigh.] Of course.

Why give us anything useful? I know I'm like, the least helpful person when it comes to tech, but I wouldn't mind helping out more.
huaaaaagh: (did you know you can recreate soy in vr)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-11-09 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
You know, if you want to know more, I don't mind teaching you.

[The advanced stuff is one thing, but there's plenty of simple tech stuff that's useful to know.]
stefanged: (slow smile)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-11 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'd appreciate that, but you don't have to. I know I'm a little behind the times.

[Plus, he's spending enough time with Anakin and Kirito that he wants to know. Every little bit helps!]
huaaaaagh: (I guess I'm a bit obsessed)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-11-12 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
That's no reason not to help you. It's actually even more of a justification to try. Technological advances can happen incredibly fast- if you're stuck in the past, you'll fall even further behind.
stefanged: (yeah well okay)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-15 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I know. I lived through the invention of the computer. [He grins a little, even if truthfully, he doesn't fully remember the details.] Trust me, we're so much better off with them.
huaaaaagh: (fine then. let's do it!)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-11-15 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
You don't need to convince me.

[He lives in computers, dude. Sometimes literally. There is no greater advocate for computers than him. ...Well, besides maybe Kayaba, but that guy's dead anyway.]

Anyway, come to engineering or my room next time you're free, and we can get started with some stuff.
stefanged: (kinda hopeful)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-16 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds good. In the meantime? I think I see something over there.

[When he runs off this time, it's with new fervor - he may be way behind Kirito in terms of tech, but he's gonna make up for it with sheer willpower.]
