Why'd You Kill the Merchant?!
Who: ALL O' Y'ALL
Broadcast: If you want
Action: FRICK YEAH PARTY AT THE JUNKYARD...I mean, Waystation. Junkstation.
When: 10/07 - Event End
It looks more like a junk heap than a waystation, but luckily there aren't any math fetishists to add you to the pile (hopefully). Talk to the scavengers and heed their warnings...if you want. Or perhaps you'll approach a shady individual for purchasing or selling stuff.
"Welcome, stranger!"

I do! I lost lots of friends, and it made me not want anymore for a long time...
But then I got too lonely! So I decided to try again.
[He laughs, bashful at the thought.]
Nobody plays pretend with me, though. Not really. 'Cus adults can be kind of serious.

I am glad you decided to try again. Being lonely is not a nice feeling.
[this child is too precious. She makes a considering noise, before she kneels down to be more at his height]
Adults can be very serious, but . . . I will play pretend with you? But you may have to teach me how. I never played when I was your age.

[He nods sagely, thinking back at his terrible existence with his mother and her horrid boyfriend. It was hard to look back on, but he tries to do it in stride. And when she offers to play pretend with him, he lights up quite a bit and pushes away those terrible memories.]
I dunno, I can try! I think adults forget how to play pretend... But I think anybody can learn something if they try hard enough! [He smiles.] My mom and dad from the last ship... They wasn't my real parents, but we played pretend. And it was the best time ever, because it became real.

[that's the conclusion she comes to, every single time. Most of the time, it's because no one will leave her be. Other times, it's because she's so tired of it that she gives in and practically clings to the few, important relationships she has.
She smiles fondly, especially when he mentions adopted family. She had that, too. She can't help but reach out and gently ruffle his hair]
Then I will have to try my hardest, won't I? And I am very stubborn. [she tilts her head] It became real?

I was on a ship called the Tranquility... When I went there, I didn't have a mom, and my dad at home wasn't there. He wasn't my real dad either; he adopted me, he said!
On the Tranquility, I got another dad. People said it was okay, to have more than one. And I got a mom. Their names were Heather and Mr. Ned — I, I called 'em mom and dad, though.

She listens to what he says, quiet, before she nods to herself and decides it's okay to talk about it. That it won't bite her in the ass somehow]
Family is what you make it to be, so it is okay to have as many as you want. I am glad you found a mom and dad there. Having something like that is important.
[. . .] There was a boy on my team in the other place I went to. He is like a brother to me, even though we are not related.
no subject
It's okay. Family doesn't got to be related to be good.
My bad family was all related, anyways. Sometimes it's better to just find people instead.
no subject
That has been my experience. I do have a cousin who is a very good man, but the rest of what remains of my blood family is . . . mm, they do not like me much.
Finding family is easier.
no subject
I dunno why your family don't like you!
You seem like a real nice lady.

[she reaches up to touch one of her ears, which is pointed like an elf's, but smaller's] They do not like me because I am not like them.
no subject
He looks mildly confounded, to be sure.]
They don't like your pointy ears?? That's... That's weird!
no subject
That is what they don't like.
no subject
[He rubs his chin with his finger, looking very intently at her ears.]
... What's the difference between a elf and a human?
Is it just pointy ears?
no subject
Elves are also very tall, and very . . . mm, fair? A lot of them have light hair and eyes. And their ears are much larger and longer - like mine, but even bigger.
no subject
[bless him, he's trying so hard to understand]
They think humans are gross looking? Is that why they don't like you? Cus you're part one?
'Cus you're really pretty.
no subject
That is sweet of you to say, dear. I suppose that is close enough - they don't like me because they do not like each other.
no subject
Oh... Did they try to — kill each other, before?
