Why'd You Kill the Merchant?!

Who: ALL O' Y'ALL
Broadcast: If you want
Action: FRICK YEAH PARTY AT THE JUNKYARD...I mean, Waystation. Junkstation.
When: 10/07 - Event End

It looks more like a junk heap than a waystation, but luckily there aren't any math fetishists to add you to the pile (hopefully). Talk to the scavengers and heed their warnings...if you want. Or perhaps you'll approach a shady individual for purchasing or selling stuff.

"Welcome, stranger!"

a. shopping, kind of

[Hank was the type to pick up whatever looked necessary - whether immediately or somewhere down the line, so the waystation drew most of his attention. The shadiness of the whole place did put him a little on edge, but what really got him was the bartering.

He was terrible at it, plain and simple. These people were pros and here he was, unable to be firm enough or whatever else it takes the bargain for a lower price. It doesn't necessarily mean he can't get those lower prices - he just has to be creative about it. At least he's decent at trading some of the stuff he already had]

b. violence, kind of

[unfortunately, not even someone like Hank can out-maneuver some of the downsides of the waystation. He tries to, of course; he isn't one for violence if he can avoid it, and boy does he try. You might catch him side-stepping an attempt and just continuing on his way, for example.

On the other hand, some of the locals are a little more stubborn. Hank tries his best to avoid it all, but - sometimes he just gives him and grabs someone, slamming them against the wall of a stall. He doesn't hurt them, per say - it's more to startle them, especially considering that he's a skinny nerdy guy who doesn't look capable of it.

He sounds more exasperated than annoyed when he addresses them, too. He isn't the greatest at being threatening, either]

I said I wasn't interested.

c. wildcard

[come at me, bros]

[The person Hank's attempting to intimidate has a friend. Or had a friend. Wrath was going to say hello to Hank anyway, so the timing is good. She grabs the second potential assailant by the hair and slams their head into her knee twice--then kneels on their chest, fist raised to strike again.

She's not looking particularly happy today. Maybe that's why.]

[he tilts his head at the noise behind him and glances over his shoulder, eyebrows raised as Wrath makes quick work of the man's "friend". She doesn't look happy at all - maybe the man he's holding is lucky she didn't get a hand on him]

Thank you, Wrath.

[he drops the first man and gives him what looks like a light shove - and he goes tumbling down the way, a good couple of feet] They're persistent today.
pain_train: (i'm not taking this)

[Very lucky. She drives her fist into the person's face, then looks up.] You're too nice.

I hear that a lot.

[but if he decided to let loose, so to speak - well, he doesn't want to break anyone. That'd be bad]

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-12 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
They're just gonna go after other people.
beathach: (170)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-10-12 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
And likely someone else will beat them up, too. It won't teach them not to do it regardless.

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-12 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So you think they're chronic threats?

[She knows how to deal with those, and Hank probably won't like it.]

I'm not saying that. I'm saying there's no point in getting rough with them; that's what they expect, and I'm sure some of them even want that. I'm not going to give them what they want.
pain_train: (bitch please)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-13 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure they wanted your credits, not to get the shit beat out of them.
beathach: (210)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-10-13 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
That, too. I'm not giving them those, either.
pain_train: (yeah fudge you too)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-14 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
There's that at least.

I think they mess wth a lot of people.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's been tempting to walk around as myself instead of like this a few times.
pain_train: (i never meant it)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-14 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Why not do it?
beathach: (212)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-10-14 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want to draw any unnecessary attention.
pain_train: (writing)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-15 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
You're going to get unnecessary attention either way, because you're obviously not from around here. [Shrug.]

[personal profile] beathach 2016-10-15 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
True, but me as I am now draws less attention than a giant, blue furry guy.
