Who: Allen Walker
Broadcast: Video
Action: SS Blue Fish
When: Today
[For those who've been here awhile, a familiar scene comes onto the feed. Allen's standing behind a table in the Blue Fish clinic. The lab itself looks a bit more...cluttered than usual. It's what happens when the person who keeps things orderly vanishes. Timcanpy is behind him on the shelf, wearing a small orange hat]
Hello everyone. If you don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, one of the medics aboard the Blue Fish. Nice to see you all again.
Just a couple announcements today! We'll be holding our bimonthly blood drive this weekend. The blood donated is kept for medical emergencies that require a blood transfusion. In other words, we use scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you donate, we'll gladly pay you!
If you're interested and are over the age of 16, please fill out the form attached to this video. [And what do you know, it's there] If you're interested in volunteering, please let me know. Vampires and similar beings interested in volunteering will need to be able to have restraint around blood and will not be allowed to sample the blood. The blood drive will be held on the SS Blue Fish, as usual.
And as always, there will be cookies to anyone who volunteers or donates.
Second, I want to thank everyone who volunteered to help out with the first aid kits. We've managed to make good headway on them, though there's still more to be done if you're still interested in volunteering. Largely, we need more medical supplies, people to assemble the kits and people to help distribute them. If you're interested in having a first aid kit for your business, ship or shuttles- please let me know.
[And for the last part...his smile seems to die down some.]
Finally, at this point it'd be...irresponsible for me to continue to overlook the fact that there have been a number of augment glitches in the past few months that have turned...dangerous.
[He hesitate a moment before speaking.]
I don't know why the change, and honestly you can speculate why in your own time. But speaking as someone who lived in a place that'd have similar issues....the best thing you can do is prepare. Make sure crews know what to do in case of an emergency, whether that be evacuation routes or defensive measures. Make sure there's more than one plan as well, just in case the first one doesn't work or doesn't apply.
If there's a cause for concern that a glitch could affect you in a dangerous way, speak with the people you trust. Develop plans or preventative measures to help minimize the danger. Don't try to take care of the problem all by yourself and don't assume the worst won't happen to you. I know it's by no means easy to share such things and I'm not going to pretend you can or should trust everyone in the fleet with your secrets, but ... [There's a pause as he's clearly thinking about something bad, but he clears his throat and carries on] Well, it's better than the alternative.
Anyway, that's all I have to today. Thank you. [And the feed cuts out]
[OOC: As usual, the blood drive will be handwaved! First Aid Kits can be handwaved as well, but feel free to use them as a means for threads whether it be supply gathering, assembly or giving them to people]

Well, I'd admit it wouldn't hurt. These faction prices are ridiculous. [Especially when you're so damn bad at pleasing Spirit who has a lot of the supplies]

[ True to his word, a few minutes later, Allen receives a remote anonymous donation. It's in the same amount that the previous one was for a few months ago. Goddamn Atroma need to stop making the credits rain from the drama that followed. ]

[He pauses,] But uh, I'll be there. Send me a shopping list too, whenever you've got a moment.

Thanks Stefan. It's mostly Spirit items I need the most help with. Mikleo's been helping, but I'm terrible at those stupid logic puzzles of theirs.

[Headtilt.] Really? All this time, I figured you had to be decent at 'em.

Maybe Tony will take the time to get his head out of his own backside to plan something for the Pathstone.
[His tone is doubtful, but he's not about to step up and do that work either. Crowley plans can only go terribly, after all. ]
Video
Maybe he will! He was always really good at building useful things. [...] I mean, when they weren't stolen and used against us, anyway.
Video
[Paradisa had fucked them over at least a hundred times in that space of time. ]
True. And you never know, he might magically one day foster some team spirit.
[Not that Crowley really has any, but that's besides the point. ]
Good idea. Telling them to get some backup plan. Last we need is someone here going postal and no one knowing how to stop 'em.

Speaking of which, I've seen some Savvy shops on Solrius that have first aid supplies and even whole kits! I can make a list if you want me to!
And yeah, we're already working on fireproofing parts of the Caprine right now, so we could probably share how to do that once we're done!
[Drogon, plz.]
Video
[He gives a nod] Really? A list would be great! I haven't had a chance yet to shop around Savvy shops very much.
Ha- for the baby dragon, I take it?

Will you accept any blood? Even if it is not human?
video;
Mmhmm! The blood will get tested to make sure it's safe, but it could be used for people who have similar blood to yours. Not everyone in the fleet is human after all.

[He puts on a pair of reading glasses from his pocket, and holds up what looks to be a list of handwritten notes]
Let's see...And some of these are good for non-glitch emergencies too.
- If you have a lab, make sure it's fully stocked. If you don't, get to know some medics on other ships that can come for assistance quickly.
- Make sure there's accessible first aid kits throughout your ship and shuttles.
- Have any capable crewmates learn first aid.
- Map out your ship's layout and establish evacuation routes.
- Invest in shuttle upgrades so there's enough shuttles to get everyone off the ship.
- Have an engineer install an alarm system. Hiro Hamada made a good system if you want his advice.
- Have an engineer install secure locks on the doors.
- Install a security system, electrical or magical, on essential equipment such as the engine so it can't be sabotaged.
- Put fire extinguishers throughout your ship and shuttles. These can double as self-defense weapons in a pinch.
- If fire is a major concern for whatever reason, the Caprine is working on fireproofing techniques so I'd ask them.
- Have capable crewmembers learn self-defense. Non-capable crew should focus on escaping a dangerous situation.
- If a particular crewmate has a higher chance of having a dangerous glitch, talk to them about their conditions. Find out signs of something's wrong, their strengths, weaknesses, and their personal preferences of how the situation should be handled. Modify plans based on those discussions.
- If they're something that can be contained, build a containment area. In a pinch, you could rig a shuttle to be one.
- Finally, look for other prevention solutions for unique problems. There's a lot of people here from different worlds with different skills. You never know what you might find.
[He lowers the list and looks at the screen]
I've been doing this a long time, sir. And this place isn't half as dangerous as the last place I was in. Believe me when I say I'm not talking out of my arse.
video
Appreciated? ]
Didn't think you were talking out of your ass, just never seen someone actually looking to talk about potential damages and figurative bomb shelters.

I have experience both as a healer and field medic, if you need an extra pair of steady hands for your collection, or anything retrieved from the local markets for the first aid kits. I'll donate blood too, of course.
