[ After having been forced to play through tens of dozens of quote-unquote games — to say nothing of living through not just one, but two counts of interdimensional kidnapping — Aoko's more than used to suddenly finding herself in an unfamiliar place. It's just, you know, one of those things that happens. ]

[ The confetti's kinda new. So's the pudding. ]

Wow, uhm … [ Aoko grins sheepishly into the screen, parked on her butt on the S.S. Wonderduck's bridge with confetti all up in her short, fluffy mop of hair. It looks like she's been trying to desperately brush it out with her fingers – or maybe it's just naturally a mess? Mysteries abound. (Spoilers: it's naturally a mess.) ]

[ The silence drags for one beat. Two beats. And then — ]

[ It's about this time that Matt finally walks into the party, glasses on and cane in hand. ]

Who's there?

[ Aoko pauses, very briefly, eyebrows shooting up – does she recognize this guy? Maybe, maybe. Either way, it'd be rude to assume, so instead of questioning it further, she scramble-hops up to her feet. ]

Police!

[ She is so psyched that somebody's playing along with her. ]

[ Knock knock jokes in space. The whole world doesn't make sense. So Matt just plays along. ]

Police who?

[ This isn't even the weirdest thing she's ever found herself doing. ]

Police'd to meet you! My name's Aoko – what's yours?

[ There's nothing nerdy or childish about this, not at all. Zippity nada, only mature adults here. ]

[ Matt laughs, if only at how happy she is to tell the joke. ]

Matt Murdock. I take it you're new?

Nice to meet you, ah … Mr. Murdock? [ Murdock-san?? Normally she'd just use an honorific, but if this is anything like Kyriakos, most people will just tell her not to bother. ] Or do you prefer Matt?

[ But then she grins, covering her moment of indecision with laughter. ]

You caught me. I just got here about half an hour or so ago.

Just Matt's fine, and welcome. I haven't been here very long myself.

You haven't been? [ Somehow, that's a little heartening. Newbies of a feather flock together, or something like that! ]

What's it like so far?

That's... a tough question. It's not as bad as you might think. Though you seem pretty calm.

[ Aoko huffs a laugh, something distinctly wry slipping through her easy-going cheer. ]

Ah, well, this … [ She rubs the back of her head. ] It's not the first time I've been kidnapped across the dimensions. You could say that I'm used to it.

[ Understatement of the century. ]

Oh. Well then. This is probably a walk in the park.

[ Well. That. Depends on how often people are brutalized and horrifically murdered so that their suffering can be used to power up the god-like beings in charge … ]

Maybe in some respects. But I've got to admit, the idea of being watched all the time is kinda creeping me out.

[ "Kinda." ]

No one here has ever seen the show, if that makes you feel any better.

So, we don't even know for sure that it's really happening?

[ It's not as comforting as it should be, all things considered. ]

Unfortunately, no. The good news is it my short time here has been pretty uneventful, everything considered.
