{The kitchen on the Huntress will have tasty smells coming from it once again as one of the resident Elves is hard at work adding fresh vegetables to a stew with a soft song on his lips. Fingon notices, this time, that he's being watched, and turns a warm, bright smile.}

I hope no one has suffered from excursions on the planet too badly. If anyone needs a warm meal, you are welcome to come here - or ask and I will go to you.

Closed to Hux:
{He smiles gently when he sends a closed message to Hux.}

I hope you are well. I brought some fresh food from the planet, if you are interested in a meal. Come to the Huntress, if you will, or I can bring it to you. {Ulterior motive? Nah.

Maybe a small one.}

Yes. Everyone has their motives and as selfless as I'm sure you think you are, you want something.

[Hux was blunt, he didn't feel like beating around the bush. The brownie didn't taste terrible at least.]

Or to at least say something.

{Fingon tips his head, acknowledging the point. Then shrugs, taking another bite before answering.} Peace. Friendship. The right to walk outside Shadow and with little to no fear it will encroach on those I care for.

{Here, sorrow touches his gaze.} It sounds to me as though your home is full of Shadow.

Shadow? [He had a feeling Fingon wasn't referring to actual darkness. He frowned, wondering if this was something close to the Dark Side or some other Force related matter.]

What shadow are you referring to?

Darkness and Evil. It permeates the fabric of the universe - or, I suppose I should say the multiverse? {And it clearly hurts the Elf.}

Yes, I've heard about it. The Force. The Light and the Dark Side. Something about balance and evil and good.

[Honestly it doesn't really matter to him. He has more admiration of the Sith than the Jedi anyway, so he considers the distinctions meaningless.

He didn't deal with the Force but rather with what was tangible.]

What about it?

{Here Fingon hesitates, studying Hux with a small crease of concern.}

I do not know this Force, though the concept seems familiar enough. Does it truly not disturb you that your home is more Darkness than Light?

Not particularly.

[If the Dark Side is what would restore order to the galaxy than so be it. But he believed that they were restoring the natural order, what was for the greater good.]

I don't deal in mystical forces or light and darkness. I deal in star destroyers and advanced weapons technology. I don't care about the Light Side or Dark Side, Jedi or Sith. I care about the power of science and technology.

{Part of Fingon mourns. But it's not his world, not his universe, and he knows so little.}

You are a very intelligent Man, Hux. I would hope you use that intelligence well, for the benefit of all around you.

What I do isn't for my personal benefit, I have dedicated my life to restoring proper order to the galaxy.

[There is a light in his eyes as he calmly ate the brownie neatly.]

I never hesitated to make the necessary sacrifices.

Sacrifices? {A frown. Fingon slowly finishes his brownie, eating just as tidily as Hux.}

Would you mind explaining what sacrifices you have made?

To wipe away a corrupt government, it was necessary to sacrifice a star system.

[While Hux had marveled at the power he had commanded, it wasn't something he had done lightly. He knew that once the New Republic was gone they could set about restoring stability once more.]

{Fingon finds he has to lean against the wall, breath leaving him. The death of a whole star system was no small thing. He isn't aware of a few tears slipping down his face.}

Were...all those within that system corrupt? Are you absolutely certain?

It was necessary take out the planets and moons to ensure we got the rot that was festering in the system before it spread even further.

[Hux had no regrets about what he had done. It had been the practical choice to prevent years of another galactic war on a larger scale than even the Clone Wars had been.]

A day which will never be forgotten, the day which ensured the Republic will never rise again.

{Fingon shakes his head, eyes closing as he feels his heart ache for lives that were lost. And yet...}

I...think I am having difficulty understanding the scope of what was done. Even one world has to have good within it.

{Proof he doesn't expect to be given.}

[Hux didn't respond right away as he took out his datapad, gesturing for Fingon to come closer. A small holo image appeared just above the surface of the data pad showing three planets and, if Fingon looked close enough, a couple of moons. It wasn't the best quality but he believed it would be sufficient.]

This is - was- Hosnian Prime. [He pointed to the largest planet.] The planet was the seat of power and the Republic used the surrounding planets and moons as bases for their operations of the bulk of their fleet.

{Fingon does so, and bends down to look at the images displayed. A shiver of dread comes over him but he hides it with a careful breath.}

A massive army, surely.

Not particularly. They were decommissioning their official forces but those funds were diverted to a secret, illegal, militia under the command of a terrorist leader who invaded our space on a regular basis.

[He swiped his finger across the surface of the datapad to play the holo so Fingon could see the beams of light impact the planets- first Hosnian Prime which ignited and broke apart in an instant. The smaller planets and moons soon followed, lighting up before breaking apart.]

{It sounds reasonable. And that's the scary part. Fingon jerks back as the light beams slam into each planet and moon. No sound to signify the scope of loss.}

...How? How could such a thing be done with ease?

It was the practical decision to make. The alternative was a galactic war which would have caused wide spread conflict to spread across the galaxy instead.

[So no, he didn't lose sleep over the Hosnian System. It made a statement to the galaxy and they were rid of the Republic once and for all.]

{Fingon closes his eyes and rubs a hand briefly over his face, finding wet cheeks. He wipes at them, breathing carefully as he listens.}

Then you work for peace. Even if it involves a great loss of life. I... Forgive me. I will leave you to your meal.

{Air. He needs space, so with a quick bow, the Elf turns and climbs out of Hux's room. He has much thinking to do, and searching for what to do next.

And leaves two bowls behind. Enjoy the second meal, Hux!}
