[For those who've been here awhile, a familiar scene comes onto the feed. Allen's standing behind a table in the Blue Fish clinic. The lab itself looks more Halloween-y than usual. There's a jack-o-lanterns and a few Halloween decorations. Timcanpy is behind him on the shelf, where what looks to be a little cape and fake vampire teeth over his already sharp teeth. Okay.]

Hello everyone! If you don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, one of the medics aboard the Blue Fish. Nice to see you all again.

Just a few announcements today! We'll be holding our bimonthly blood drive next weekend. The blood donated is kept for medical emergencies that require blood transfusions. In other words, we use scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you donate, we'll gladly pay you!

If you're interested and are over the age of 16, please fill out the form attached to this video. [And what do you know, it's there] If you're interested in volunteering, please let me know. Vampires and similar beings interested in volunteering need to be able to have restraint around blood and will not be allowed to sample the blood. The blood drive will be held on the SS Blue Fish, as usual.

And as always, there will be cookies to anyone who volunteers or donates.

Moving on, a few other minor announcements. [He puts on a pair of reading glasses and starts to read off a sheet of paper:]

Over the next few weeks, there's a number of Earth holidays of a rather...macabre flavour: Day of the Dead, Bonfire Night, and most popular- Halloween. So if you have Earth crewmates carving pumpkins, dressing up, showing a fascination with skeletons, ghosts and other things like that, gouging on candy, burning effigies- that's why. Please don't be alarmed.

If you drink blood or enjoy your meat rare, I've been notified that the meat from the planet can give rather...odd side effects if not cooked thoroughly. Side effects include decreased in good decision-making skills and increased urges to write poetry. Please show caution.

Finally, there's been many reports of some people feeling some sort of...presence with the planet. [for a second, he looks uneasy about it, but it leaves after a moment] We're still looking fully into it, and I'm not sure what it means. If anyone has any more information about it, it'd be appreciated.

A blood drive? That's such a cool idea! I'd love to donate, but I don't know my blood type, or how much I weigh. (ﾟヘﾟ)

Have you been running this for very long? What gave you the idea?

I've been running this about...a year and a half now? The last place I was had a blood bank in its clinic, so continuing that seemed like a good idea.

[a blood drive. . . huh! having come directly from a world where people mostly used healing magic and other, non-scientific means of treating injuries, Kaito can appreciate the normality of something as simple as a blood drive. it makes him think of home, where things like magic were a rarity]

[he grins at his communicator before he fires off a reply text]

sign me up! but i've got a question first: chocolate chip cookies, right?

Ah, yes! I think we have some? Pinkie Pie is usually the one that handles the baking, but I can mention chocolate chip to her.

The last place? So you've been somewhere else before here, too? Huh. I wasn't expecting that to be so common here.

[ She drums her fingers briefly against her knee, before quickly firing off another message: ]

I helped maintain a clinic back where I used to be, too. I know the ships have medical personnel of their own already, but for what it's worth, I'd be happy to help out wherever it's needed.

not that i would have changed my mind if you were supplying oatmeal raisin instead, but chocolate chip's a nice perk.

although. . . do events that cause medical emergencies happen here often?

[the new kid's way of asking if their trip through space is particularly. . . well. dangerous]

Thank you, I appreciate the offer. Luckily, it's usually quiet enough that we don't need constant aid, but during the blood drive it'd be nice.

Well, not that often, no. Most of the time, things are rather peaceful. The blood bank is more a safety precaution. Though, there have been times where it's been needed to be used, so it's good to have it on hand.

Why do I feel this was first hand experience? Was Sokka unable to wait for it to be cooked to eat meat this time? [Said in a deadpan, sarcastic way, yet at the same time wouldn't really be surprised to hear it was true.]

[the response gives Kaito pause. when was the last time he had been to a place he could describe as "peaceful?" it's almost. . . relieving]

that's the answer i like to hear.

Actually, it wasn't Sokka this time. He doesn't need strange meat to write poetry.

Nice to meet you, Kaito! I haven't been on the blameless- are the walls actually scorched?

Well that's good. If he can wait at least long enough for the meat to be cooked then the food supply must be okay.

[He kids. Mostly.]

I suppose writing poetry is better than getting sick or breaking out like an allergy. I admit; it's a strange side effect.

[But onto the other thing that got his attention.]

This planet is a strange one, isn't it? I have to admit the more time I spend on the surface the more I think I do feel a presence as well. Not in the way say of being watched, but something out there.

yup. i could take a video to prove it, if you don't wanna take my word for it.

i haven't yet spoken to anyone who knows why they're burnt, though.

Well, it seems to be a magical planet. Magic planet, magic side effects. I'm just glad no one's turned into an animal.

Mm. There's some sort of creature living there. Not sure if it's the planet itself or the forest or something else.

Hmmmm.

It might've been Azula. She lived on that ship for awhile.

I'd like to volunteer. For the blood drive.

Sometimes people do that. They disappear from the fleet, we're still not sure where they go for sure. Many of us think home.
