I don't see why you can't do this.

[Erik is the one visible on screen, and he doesn’t look pleased about it at all. He jerks his chin towards the wall next to him, irritated.]

Because it’s your idea, and I don’t want to.

[the huff that follows is a little on the growly side]

I’m here to open paths, not send out messages. [As if to punctuate this point, Erik turns away from the camera and swipes his hand through the air. The metal wall crumples to the side with a shriek, curling up on itself like a ringpull.

The camera shifts off of Erik with a muttered "show off" to the plant life spilling out of the side of the hull, and a clawed, blue foot comes into frame to poke at a nearby pumpkin]

In any case - Erik and I are at the crashed ship, if anyone would like us to bring some of these back. If you're interested, feel free to message one of us.

As for the ship - if anyone else is planning to come out here, be careful. There's ways into the ship, but it has been here a while, so it's falling apart. We'll try to get some information about the signal while we're here, though so far we haven't had much luck.

[the camera moves back to Erik]

[Erik’s mostly occupied with pointing his flashlight into the gloom of the area beyond the wall. He does give a curt response.]

No requests for pumpkins bigger than the usual Earth-size.

[Winn Schott. Kitty's boyfriend. Now it clicks for him - he had seen Winn on the network at times, and had seen him at Kitty's birthday. There's a brief moment where the recognition kicks in and Erik looks-- uncertain, and at a loss.]

Oh. I see. [With things as they are, he doubts whether he should even have this conversation. This conversation he's already halfway into. He regains his composure.] Erik Lehnsherr. [Not that it needs saying, he's sure.]

[ that makes two of them, but he needs to do this - for kitty's sake as well as his own. he doesn't want her to lost someone who means so much to her and maybe if they can show her that erik means him no harm (which he wants so desperately to trust because why would hank trust him if he did?) she could get her friend back.

erik's reaction just makes him feel even more uncomfortable. he pushes himself because of it. ]

It's...nice to finally meet you, Erik. [ he even tries for a smile. god everything feels so awkward right now. ]

[Erik doesn't smile back, not on even enough footing to try it. Of all the things he'd anticipated about this trip into the deep forest, this wasn't exactly on the list. He can't just switch off the feed, though... he remembers how it went the last time he'd done something like that.

After a moment, he nods.]

It's a pleasure. [It's true enough, if he thinks back to how things used to be. It's better than asking "Is it?", at the very least.]

[ winn was ready to switch off after thanking him, but he's a little glad that erik made him stick it out (also a lot nervous - mostly for kitty's reaction). ]

Are you into exploring or is Hank just dragging you along?

[Erik glances over at Hank, who's busy poking through the pumpkins at the edge of the frame.]

It was his idea. This was a bit far to come for personal interest alone. [The fact that he had minimal personal interest in the SOS signal to begin with was another factor in that.]

Not surprising. I mean, I don't know what does or doesn't sound like your idea, obviously, but I do know what sounds like Hank's.

[ warning. warning. we have reached embarrassing babbling levels. this can only get worse. ]

[Erik's long pauses probably do not help the embarrassment factor. Here goes another one.]

Yes. I don't care much for the source of the message. The ship itself, though... [The closer he got, the more his curiosity woke up.]

What about it?

[ shit, now he's interested. sorry, kitty! ]

We haven't experienced a ship this size from the inside, as far as I know. There's no telling what might have been left behind.

Or what brought it down.

I think it's something you have to.

[ since they're there and all. yeah it's been a long time but there are some things that could still be problematic however long has passed since the ship crashed later. ]

Be careful out there. [ that's one of his best friends ever you have with you there. ]

[All he can do is nod, really. With a lack of conversation ideas coming to mind that don't lead down rocky roads, Erik switches off the feed. Not the most polite of exits, but it seemed to him like a good time to go.]
