Who: Laura Kinney and Open
Action: At the giant derelict ship/On the Red Fish
When: Throughout the month
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Audio
[There's a little delay and the barely audible sound of shuffling as Laura turns her comm on. Then, finally, a faint breath before she speaks.]
I need to know how to replant a small tree.
[That is the entire message. So social.]
At the wreck of the ship
[Laura has been spending a lot of time at the giant ruined ship and the surrounding forest, her curiosity about the wreck only outweighed by her desire to be out amongst the trees. She knew this would end soon, the fleet would move on and they'd wind up stuck in space for weeks, or on another dying world, or worse yet, some space station. More cramped hallways and recycled air.]
[The ship was a compromise, open to the jungle in enough places that she could poke around inside it without feeling like she was caged in. But she didn't really have anything specific she was looking for. When she came across something that might be useful, she'd pull it down or cut it out of the ship, and she had slowly amassed a pile of broken machinery near one of the holes into the hull.]
[Other times she can just be found sitting on the outside of the ship, high up as close to the top as her claws could get her, just...watching the forest. And the other people exploring the wreckage.]
On the Red Fish
[While they're on the planet, Laura is away much of the time. She's even sleeping out in the jungle, only coming back every few days to drop off things she might have found, or get a desperately needed shower and change of clothing. People can catch her coming back filthy or heading off clean.]
[Later on, she brings home a pumpkin. It winds up sitting in the hallway outside of her room, too big to comfortably bring in. But small enough to walk around. Mostly. Feel free to complain. Or try to eat her pumpkin. That will end well.]

At the wreck
[There are more people exploring the wreck now than when she first found it, so she quickly shrinks down from the falcon she arrived as to a much smaller bird so as not to attract attention. Flitting over the wreck, it takes her awhile to see the figure sitting atop the wreck, a curious line of holes scoring the hull from the ground up. That alone makes her curious, and after several hours spent as a bird it would be nice to talk to someone for a change. So she swoops down, landing a short distance from Laura and resuming human form, approaching her stealthily, as old spy habits die hard.]
Lovely view up here.

[It was only the smell of rubber, a split second before the woman behind her spoke, that had Laura realize, but it wasn't soon enough, and she gave a little start at the voice, though the only real sign of it was her fingers tightening where they gripped the edge of the broken ship.]
[After a second, she answered, turning to look up at her. Her eyes faintly narrowed. It was quite a trick to sneak up on X-23.]
Yes.
no subject
loom overstand next to Laura and look out over the sight of the forest.]Good place to be alone I suppose. How exactly did you get up here though? [Yes she'd seen the marks but couldn't see what the other girl had used to make them.]
no subject
I climbed.
[She certainly didn't look like someone who could have scaled the side of a giant broken space-ship, but then, who could tell with people from the fleet?]
And you flew.
[She was paying attention see.]
no subject
What makes you say that?
[She asked, almost casually, her eyes nonetheless hard.]
no subject
[To be fair, the woman didn't really smell right at all.]
I heard bird wings that cut off abruptly just before you spoke. But I do not smell a bird.
no subject
How lucky for you, yet somehow I still managed to surprise you. [She smirks in a superior way, her tone distinctly snide, almost taunting.]
All those sounds and smells get a bit much for you down there?
no subject
No.
[Was her answer, shifting faintly as she leaned a bit further out to look down.]
It is easier to see everyone from here.
no subject
You're a spy aren't you. Assassin too?
no subject
No.
[It was technically true. She wasn't. Not anymore...]
no subject
Liar.
[Just to prove the point beyond doubt Gemini throws a punch, hard and fast at the other girl's jaw.]
no subject
What do you want?
no subject
Thought so. [She shrugs carelessly at the question.]
A moment's relief of boredom, what you used to make all those holes in the ship, professional respect. Pick one.
no subject
[So she held up her left hand, and with a 'snkt' her twin claws slid out from between her knuckles, gleaming in the afternoon light, a faint edge of blood from where they pierced her skin.]
I climb with these.
no subject
[Gemini's gaze was distinctly admiring, her eyes running up and down the claws and a moment later 'snikt' and she sprouts her own, identical right down to the faint sheen of blood, turning them to admire on her own hand.]
I could get used to these. You have two more? I counted four pairs of holes.
no subject
How did you do that?
no subject
I thought you'd worked that out already. [That snide tone is back, although she's mostly looking over Laura trying to work out where those extra claws might be.] These almost look like Promethium.
no subject
[She certainly wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of seeing where the rest of her claws were, though.]
They are adamantium.
no subject
[Which could be annoying. Most metals wouldn't cut through her elastic body, but the sharpest ones could, and being sliced to pieces was never pleasant. She's still admiring the claws even when Laura puts hers away, they're by far the most interesting weapons she's seen in some time.
She's picturing in her mind the way the other woman's body would move to climb and matching it with the claw marks in her memory, her gaze sliding down to Laura's feet.]
no subject
[This wasn't a threat. Not...exactly. (Yes it was.)]
[She started walking back towards the edge of the wreckage, moving in a half-circle around the woman.]
no subject
[Her eyes glitter darkly at the threat, turning so as to keep facing Laura as she goes around her.]
Thinking of heading back down? I do hope you don't slip It's a long way to fall.
no subject
I would survive the fall.
no subject
[Her arm shot out, elongating in the blink of an eye to give the other woman a very firm shove off the side of the ship.]
Oops.
no subject
[Well, as much as the shattered hulk of a ruined ship could be called 'open air.' Her mind raced as she fell, and she managed to twist herself around, scanning the debris she was falling past. This wasn't the first time she'd been knocked off something ridiculously high before. She just needed to find something to grab...]
no subject
A giant elastic step carried her to the edge so that she can watch Laura as she falls, her smirk even wider now. Flexing her hand a little, the fingers regrew, the severed digits melting into goo and oozing over to meld with her foot.]
no subject
[For a moment she just hung there, and then she sucked in a breath and scrambled up onto the floor with a back twist, landing on her feet and standing slowly, rolling her shoulder until she felt it pop back into the socket. She flexed her fingers several times to make sure everything was working, then turned her gaze up towards the top of the ship, scanning for the fastest way to climb back up.]
no subject
When Laura looks up Gemini gives her a little mocking wave before leaping into the air, her form shrinking into a crow, swooping by just out of reach, her voice ringing out along with a derisive caw.]
That was fun, see you around Clawgirl.

The ships are...confining...when we are not near a planet.

[Too many reminders of her childhood.]
no subject
A lot of people seem to feel that way. Bringing little bits of planets back with them when they leave.
no subject
It does help.

I have been staying on the planet as much as possible.
[She's been sleeping in trees.]
no subject
Making the most of it while you can?
no subject
[She shrugged.]
We may be trapped in the ships for some time.

[Laura actually sighs faintly.]
I didn't think there could be an entire world like that.
[She still remembers her disappointment disembarking there.]

...The roots are the most important part. You need to make sure you don't damage them in the process. Bring some of the soil from where you found it to plant it in. Make sure it's got plenty of room to spread those roots, it won't thrive if it's too cramped. It will need a lot of strong light, and plenty of water.
In fact, I'm not sure these ships are really the right environment for a young tree.

[Laura was just desperate for something green and nice during the time stuck on the ship, really.]
