There are slavers aboard the waystation who are actively seeking cargo.  [The mildly courteous tone Makie is known for is absent, though she doesn't sound angry.  Inflectionless.  Possibly a little strained, if anyone knows her well enough.] 

This is the second time I know of they've attempted to take someone, and this time they've succeeded.  His name is... Max.  He's a crew member of the Starstruck.

We know where he is.  [Thanks to polite inquiries made of a survivor.  Very polite inquiries.]  We need assistance to retrieve him. 

...and a doctor, also.  Thank you.

[...totally asking for Tempest on that last one, okay.]

[Makie herself is a shade paler than usual, blood spotted on the shoulder of her kimono. For Furiosa, though, she smiles. One capable woman to another, right? They'll fuck shit up.]

I would expect nothing less.

I'm already on station-- a pilot has agreed to take us from here.

[Makie's visual is worrying. Whose blood is that? Is is hers, is it Max's? Fortunately, Furiosa has gotten good at channeling her rage just under the surface. She nods.]

I'll meet you on the station, then.

Do you want me to bring any additional weapons? [BNecause of course she's coming armed.]

[She can at least be reassured that it's probably not Max's blood, though by now Makie thinks Max may be worse off. If Furiosa's eyes are sharp, she'll notice the small hole punched through the kimono also. It's all Makie's blood. The injury isn't critical, at least. Makie is still...carrying on as per usual.]

I have my pike. Bring whatever you care to use, Furiosa. It won't take us long, I'm sure.

[Unfortunate. But, Furiosa is sure Makie left her attacker in worse condition.]

On my way. [She cuts the feed and prepares herself. When she arrives, she's got a shotgun, pouches with extra rounds, a knife, and she's slathered the top half of her head with black grease. She's ready to go to war.]

[Damn right she did. By the time Furiosa arrives, Makie's likely sitting on an overturned junk crate by the shuttle bay, her kimono slipped off her shoulder while someone bandages it for her. She looks more put out by the whole affair than in pain. It won't slow her down if she's careful.

When she sees Furiosa, she gives a rueful smile.]

I'm afraid I'm not used to modern weapons.

[Guns are, uh. A lot faster and more efficient in space than 1782. Who knew.]

When this is over, I'll show you a few things.

[She wishes she had brought an extra gun, she would have tossed it to Makie and given her a crash course in firearms. As it is, she's not willing to waste any time going back to the First Breath for anything.]

So what kind of crowd are we dealing with?

Slavers. [She tilts her head, expression reflective for a moment.] At least six left with Max. We have another prisoner who's been thoroughly questioned at length. The slaver ship is reasonably large, and there's likely at least another thirty men left to crew it. [No big deal.] The others are now dead. They're armed with blunt weapons, guns... some things I'm not used to.

...here. [The healer is done, and she shucks her kimono back up before she bends down to pick something off the ground by her feet.] These as well. You may be more familiar than I.

[It's a cattle prod.]

[Furiosa takes it and turns it over, looking at it fully.] yeah, I've seen something like this. Delivers an electric shock.

[She hands it back to Makie.] It's not a gun but it packs enough power to knock a man flat.

[Electric shock. Something she's now only vaguely familiar with, but it's enough.]

Then they're well-armed. [She rolls her shoulder a little, testing its mobility.] I've had several offers of assistance and the offer of a pilot. Assuming we can gain entry to their ship, we'll retrieve him.
