Who: The fine crew of the SS Red Fish!
Broadcast: Probably not so much...
Action: You betcha.
When: Barely forward-dated to Halloween!
---
[welcome to the Red Fish, the ship that always looks ready for Halloween anyway.
while today is a popular Earth holiday, it's also Zhas' birthday, and he has probably mentioned it to everyone on board in an unsubtle way over the last few weeks. there are a hilarious number of jack-o-lanterns around the ship, showing off skull-face carvings of... varying quality. thanks, Syeira!
what's in store on this spooky night? HILARITY, probably.]

...it's confusing. he tilts his head, signing 'what?' far more casually than normal.]

Go on. It's for you.

...but it does. he takes it, looking kind of amazed at the thing, unwrapping it enough to see what it is. he'd know a sword anywhere--but he just wants to know that it's real.]
...You got it for me...?

[She's been drinking and she's teasing.]
I thought you could use your own. For when I teach you how to use it.

dangerous? yes. but this is the closest he's ever looked to a kid in a candy store, admiring the thing. a cool toy, yeah, but more importantly--a gift. without the face paint, he looks almost human about it.
he lowers the sword, but it's just so that he can step forward and scoop Sye over in a one-armed hug. savor it, because he doesn't give these often.]

I'm glad you like it. But there's something else.
[She reluctantly pulls back, and takes his right hand. She produces a small braided leather bracelet, and loops it around his wrist.]
I know it's not as 'cool' as a sword, but I liked the look of it. Made me think of you.

she was thinking about him a lot, today. and that's a very kind thing to imagine, being in the life of another person. the endless loop of infinity; he's never thought much about the symbol before, but maybe he'll start now.]
... It's pretty. [which he doesn't mean in a bad way, lifting his wrist up with a very small smile still playing on his face.] Like a charm...
no subject
Charm is pretty accurate, actually. If we're ever in a situation where your ability to move is hindered, I can fix it if you're wearing this.
[It's a very practical gift!]

[even inebriated, he's pretty sure she doesn't mean... physical restraints, so much. still, that's a helpful little thing. he lowers his arm, but not for very long--just a couple of seconds later, he lifts it enough to see the bracelet again.]
You know... That's okay. If it's yours. [the magic, he means. oh, and by the way--he's absolutely still holding a giant sword in his other hand.]
no subject
Right now, she is basking in this moment where Zhas is being open and generous any their friendship. She's definitely going to remember it.]
I'm glad you like them.

this is nice, though. he doesn't get nice things like this very often.]
You know, I... [at this point, it's hard to tell if his weird pausing is because he's drunk. his attempted normal-people sentences are usually kind of clumsy even when he's sober. either way, he looks at the rest of the kitchen as if getting distracted.]
...M'glad I stayed in. It's a good birthday. [and then he looks at Syeira again, not smiling but not frowning, either.] I'm glad you're here.
