[welcome to the Red Fish, the ship that always looks ready for Halloween anyway.

while today is a popular Earth holiday, it's also Zhas' birthday, and he has probably mentioned it to everyone on board in an unsubtle way over the last few weeks. there are a hilarious number of jack-o-lanterns around the ship, showing off skull-face carvings of... varying quality. thanks, Syeira!

['it's early,' he signs immediately, before he even turns to look at her. and his hands are heavy when he signs--both from the small amount of alcohol that he's choked down so far, and the weariness that comes from enduring too many years of this particular tradition. it has been quiet so far, but Coil still manages to look a little haunted by the whole thing.]

[She says it with a laugh in her voice. But he doesn't seem to be having it, so she sighs and slumps down a little, still smiling a little as she looks at him.]

You know I'm here to help if anything gets out of hand. You can relax. Just a little.

[he shoots her a long-suffering look, which is already more petty expression than he usually allows himself. the cup that he's on is half empty, after all.

'that's what I'm worried about,' he signs, more to himself than anything. as if she can't actually read what he's saying.]

'What is that supposed to mean?' She signs back.]

['messy,' he says, before taking a careful sip from his cup.

he's apparently so determined not to talk about it that he's drinking willingly. and he's quick to try changing the subject.

'I thought he would go out this year instead of staying home,' he signs almost clearly.]
