[The Interfaith Center sounds far more bustling and busy than usual - and anyone peering inside would quickly figure out that a communal dinner is underway! Take off your shoes and walk in: the lounge has extra tablecloths on the floor as well as buffet tables with non-alcoholic beverages and all sorts of food, including Jordanian cuisine (or the outer space equivalent of Jordanian food).

The board games are out of their hiding nooks; the furniture's arranged for the maximum seating possible; and even the teddy bears donated by Kitty & Winn are out for cuddling, should anyone want them.

The kitchen's bustling with helpers - Stefan's running around at vamp-speed to make sure everything's a) done on time and b) cooked to perfection - but he sure wouldn't mind an extra hand. And if you're still not up for some food? Well, the prayer rooms are open as usual. There's always a quiet moment to be found, even if the laughter's louder and the scent of freshly-baked mansaf's wafting through the long corridors.

Anyone and everyone who's ever been inside the Interfaith Center has been invited (via text message - and Stefan even used the fancy emoji). If you're not particularly faithful or devout? Well, drop by anyways. There's more than enough food to spare.]

[Misty sits cross-legged at his feet, her eyes closed as she lets the music waft over her. She sighs happily when he finishes.]

Master Bilbo Baggins wrote that one. [ He smiles ] He was a singularly odd hobbit, and an estimable personage.

[mistyday]

[She can't help but giggle at that name.] Bilbo Baggins? You ain't pullin' my leg are you?

[bythewaves]

[ He shakes his head at her, amused ] I am not! I will have you know that in the Shire, the family Bagggins was a highly respected and wealthy one!

[mistyday]

But you gotta admit, it sounds a little funny.

[bythewaves]

I cannot deny that, but I would never imply such!

[She chuckles again then asks:]

What's a hobbit anyway?

[bythewaves]

Hobbits are a race, we think, distantly akin to Men. Where they come from no one rightly knows, but they are a cheerful people, standing at little higher than half the height of a Man, and very like them otherwise in all aspects save their feet, which grow very tough soles and are quite hairy on the top, so that they prefer to go unshod.

[Misty’s brow furrows as she tries to picture what a Hobbit must look like.]


So like a dwarf?

Oh goodness no! [ Maglor laughs at the thought ]

Dwarves are taller, and broader, sturdy as the mountains. Hobbits are a folk of tilled earth and well kept hedges, soft - in appearance, anyway!

Hobbits, elves, dwarves, men... y'all got so many types of people!

[bythewaves]

Do we? [ Maglor laughs softly ] I suppose I never thought of it so. I have not told you of the Ents yet, either!

[mistyday]

All we got is just humans, on Earth. But what are Ents?

[bythewaves]

Perhaps - but hobbits dislike us "Big Folk" - chances are, you might never know they were there!

The Ents are the Shepherds of the Trees. Like trees themselves they seem, but they may move - and swiftly if roused! - to deadly effect if their "sheep" ate threatened.

[mistyday]

[Okay that sounds like the coolest shit ever!]

Oh! Tree people!

[Misty's eyes get wide with excitement.]

I'd love to meet an Ent!

[bythewaves]

Aye, of a sort! I think you would like them too. They are slow and ponderous, vehemently protective, but kind.

[mistyday]

They sound a little like you.

[She grins.]

Well... not the slow and ponderous part so much.

[bythewaves]

I would hope not! [ he sniffs at her in mock pique ]

But thank you.

Hey, since you played for me, how about I play for you? I've been practicing my shamisen a lot.

[bythewaves]

[ his eyes light up and he nods ]

If you would? I would love to hear.

[mistyday]

Wait right here!

[She disappears with an eager smile and returns with her shamisen in tow. Settling down on one of the prayer mats, she holds her position as Makie has taught her: kneeling, with back straight. She gives the shamisen a few experimental plucks before starting with an instrumental rendition of Landslide. There are a few starts and stops as she goes, but it's clear how much she's improved over the past few months, even if he's not familiar with the song.]

[ Maglor listens and applauds her at the end ]

Oh, well done! [ He smiles at her ] You have been practicing hard, I see. That was very lovely, Misty - thank you.

[mistyday]

[Misty beams up at him.]

Thank you! I'm going to try to start learning a new song too, for you, but it's a secret.

Ah, a secret, hm? [ His eyes dance ]

Well, I will wait in anticipation, then! I will have to write you one as well, I think, as a thank you present.
