[The Interfaith Center sounds far more bustling and busy than usual - and anyone peering inside would quickly figure out that a communal dinner is underway! Take off your shoes and walk in: the lounge has extra tablecloths on the floor as well as buffet tables with non-alcoholic beverages and all sorts of food, including Jordanian cuisine (or the outer space equivalent of Jordanian food).

The board games are out of their hiding nooks; the furniture's arranged for the maximum seating possible; and even the teddy bears donated by Kitty & Winn are out for cuddling, should anyone want them.

The kitchen's bustling with helpers - Stefan's running around at vamp-speed to make sure everything's a) done on time and b) cooked to perfection - but he sure wouldn't mind an extra hand. And if you're still not up for some food? Well, the prayer rooms are open as usual. There's always a quiet moment to be found, even if the laughter's louder and the scent of freshly-baked mansaf's wafting through the long corridors.

Anyone and everyone who's ever been inside the Interfaith Center has been invited (via text message - and Stefan even used the fancy emoji). If you're not particularly faithful or devout? Well, drop by anyways. There's more than enough food to spare.]

Not sure. There's a few reasons why you might be able to- those with traits or ties to animals, or those who have certain powers... or just those who are particularly spiritual.

Some people have natural resonance that grows the longer they're around seraphim. It varies.

What exactly is a seraphim? Are you a spirit or something?

Most people understand it easiest when we describe ourselves as spirits, yeah. Every seraph is connected to an element that defines their abilities and connection to nature.

What's your element then?

Water. There are two wind seraphim in the fleet, as well.

I grew up in a swamp, so maybe that helps too, you think? With me being able to see you? I know a lot about water and plants.

Maybe; it's a good enough reason, anyway. I don't fully understand how it works in this place, since it's so different from what I'm used to.

Yeah no one's magic works exactly the same here.

Yeah, I've learned to accept it. But I'd like to learn; this is the sort of thing that really interests me.

Me too. I didn't get much of a chance to learn about it at home.

That's a shame. But at least now you can make up for lost time?

Obi-Wan's on my ship, but I don't know the other two. They're magic-users of some sort?

Yeah, Hermione is a witch, like me, and Wolfe's what we'd call a warlock but they call him a mage in his world.

Is being a witch a normal thing where you're from? Or, er, safe?

[Misty snorts.]

Honey, there ain't nothing safe about being a witch.

[f-ffff. Well then.]

I meant, ah. Where I'm from, it's taboo for humans to attempt artes- magic. Their bodies aren't suited for it, and over time they become undead monsters. So it's dangerous.

[Her eyebrows go up in surprise.]

Well no, we don't do that. Only monsters around are other people.

Other people?

People don't like witches. They're scared of us and hunt us. And if it's not them, it's other witches you gotta worry about. It's why I like it here better.

I see. Humans I get, but why would other witches be dangerous? Wouldn't it be better to support each other, if other people are out to get you?

That's what I thought. See, I didn't even know there were other witches for a long time. I mean, I knew there had to be, right? Couldn't just be me. So when Zoe found me - she's my friend, another witch - I thought everything would get better, that I finally wasn't alone. But it didn't. It got worse. That coven was dark and rotten to the core 'cause the leader, she cared more about maintainin' power more than anything.

Were there no witches who would support you?

Mmm. [She away from him and down at her cards, flipping one over. There's only one person she truly misses from back there.]

Miss Cordelia. She was trying to make everything better, for all of us.
