Curling Is a Girl's Best Friend

Hello, everyone! I believe it's been a while since my last broadcast.

[We don't talk about her last broadcast. This one is markedly more excited and positive, at least.]

Anyway, a while back, Sorey showed me some enormous pill bugs and I thought I'd share some pictures, since I figured out how to take them!

[Give her a moment...there! There's a picture of a dog-sized pill bug all curled up into a ball.]

This one had the best curl of the bunch. You can really see the artistry and professionalism in it. [Lailah shows another one. It's more like the size of a chihuahua.] Aw, and this little guy has a really nice form! This one will make it big as a curler, I'm sure!

[And now she's showing a pink fairy armadillo that's about the size of a beagle.]

I've never seen an armadillo like this one before, but isn't it adorable? And it has such a refined and dignified curl. Arma Dylan himself would be proud of it, I'm sure!

[No, Lailah isn't crazy. Really!]

Those are some pretty awesome curls! But have you ever heard of spiral galaxies?

Oh, my goodness! I never knew that outer space could also have something that curls! It looks like it's making the light curl into a very nice sphere.

... I can already tell I'm going to regret asking this, but... "Arma Dylan"?

Arma Dylan is an armadillo seraph and a world-famous curler! His curls are absolutely perfect and stunning. It's my dream to meet him one day, to see that perfect curl.

[Lailah sounds dreamy as she says it.]

Armadillo... seraph. Who is a world-famous curler. As in he curls up into a ball.

Yeah, I'm not drunk enough for this.

Yeah, you don't have to hear her going on about it in your head during a fight. [he loves you lailah but please don't comment with "what a lovely spiral" as he's getting walloped]

Why is that something you'd be discussing in a fight? Did you have to fight this guy?

No, we haven't met him, unfortunately. We've fought armadillo hellions and a pill bug hellion, though! Some of their curls were amazing, but that pill bug hellion was the biggest let down. His was very amateur hour.

[Hell yes she's still salty about that one.]

Isn't that a good thing? If you have to kill it, then a disappointing enemy is good!

Lailah knows how to appreciate a certain aspect of an enemy without letting her feelings cloud her judgment. [if this sounds like a canned response it's because she's told him the same thing when he expressed his own doubts]

... Okay, I get it, but curling?

Everyone has their passions and hobbies! Mine happens to be curling. [A brief pause.] ...Well, and punning, too.

So what got you so interested in curls to begin with, anyway? It's kind of an unusual hobby, to say the least.

Oh, well, a long time ago, I met some armadillo seraphim who were curling enthusiasts! They taught me all about the art of curling and attaining a perfect spherical shape. Their gushing about Arma Dylan's curl was what made me want to meet him someday.

[Do you regret?]

[Not... yet... but it probably won't take long. Honestly these days it's just nice to see her happy. There's no reason to ruin her fun.]

You know, I've never actually seen you curl.

[Wow, Mikleo.]

They did try teaching me how to do that myself, but, ah, let's just say there are a lot of physical limitations for human seraphim in comparison to armadillo seraphim. I myself can't do it, so...I guess you could say I sort of live vicariously through those who can.

Well, that makes sense, I guess. Like a trade-off for having thumbs and such.

Have there ever been non-human-bodied sub lords?

[Such tsun. Much dere. Wow.]

I, personally, don't discriminate. As long as the seraph is willing, they can be a Sub-Lord. Sometimes, dog seraphim and other social animals will use pacts as a way to form their own pack or colony or what have you.

I see...

[He's. Admittedly glad that didn't happen with their group. He's not sure how well he'd have handled sharing a constant domain (and a vessel) with a dog- even a dog seraph. Oysh had been okay, since they'd been with him so briefly, but...]

Wait, can animals be reborn as seraphim, too!?

[They'd only recently learned about human Shepherds being reborn like that. If animals could, what would be the qualifications? Is that what turtlez are?? The world has so many mysteries...!]

Lailah, how many pictures did you take...?

Not too many! Some of them came out poorly, but I figured out how to get rid of those on my device. I found armadillos and hedgehogs and other animals that curl, too, and took pictures of them! I can share them if you want?

Nonsense! It's no trouble. Just to show you how not-troublesome it would be, not only will I find you a round scrapbook but I'll make sure it's spiral-bound.

Look at it go, huh. Much better than the ones from home.

Well, they're certainly bigger than the ones from home. Arma Dylan still remains the best curler, though.

[Normally cranky as hell, Espio catches himself laughing without really realising it. But look, that armadillo is cute and pink and fluffy and looks like it belongs with a little girl's toy collection, he can't help it!]

That's an armadillo? So cute.

[Lailah absolutely loves this kind of armadillo. It's just too bad it's not something that should be a person's pet.]

Isn't it? I had no idea there were armadillos that were so small and pink! But it's absolutely an armadillo and I think it's my favorite kind.

[It's so much smaller and cuter than the armadillos Espio's acquainted with, that's for sure! Which is why he finds tiny pink 'dillo so amusing - it kinda stings a little, all things considered, but he really wishes Mighty were here so he could pick on him a little.]

Neither did I, and I've met a good few armadillos! They're way different!

[ Curling... ?? Well, okay, everyone's got hobbies and interests, right? ]

Hunh. Never heard of a pill bug or an armadillo. Guess they are pretty curly, huh? Though I can't say I'd heard of professionalism in curling till now.

[Don't knock it 'til you try it!]

Not many have, but it's a wonderful art form. Attaining the perfect sphere is a very difficult feat, after all!

[Lailah sighs dreamily.]

It's my dream to see that, you know? Something getting that perfect shape and making Arma Dylan proud.

Arma Dylan-- that uh, sounds a lot like the armadillo thing you also mentioned. Uh. [ ??? ... He shakes his head a few times. ] Anyway.

Sooo... what would be a perfect curl? Like somethin' that kinda spirals exactly right? Or is it just like one perfect circle?

[Sora's gotta pretty used to Seraphim living on the Huntress. And her talking about bugs and animals? Seems like a great time to meet his new crewmate.]

If we ever come across a Sandshrew, you should see one of those! They love curling up.
