I had a lecture planned but I realized it felt rather redundant. We have huge list of lectures and while each topic is interesting, I feel it lacks the feedback aspect that's so important in our education. To quote one of my favourite books . . .

So, I put the question to the Fleet. What would you like to learn and how can we help each other? I hold classes on the Iskaulit for training of powers, but I'd be happy to broaden my classes for other subjects and needs.

Isn't the hard part accepting your powers?

[ even before the training part comes, that is; or at the very least, that's what he finds difficult. ]

That's certainly a part of it. Acceptance varies from person to person. Some find it easier, others less so.

Any advice to the second group?

The advice I give my students is that it never feels like a gift at first. But it grants you the power to act, to make a difference.

And I don't think that's such a terrible thing.

See, that's just the thing.

but seeing he was a raging psychopath, I am finding it a bit hard to accept his version of things.

[ Gave him? That's something he doesn't hear very often. ]

I don't really have one. Most of the people who started using their powers turned out to be, well. Lunatics, villains, thieves, murders, you know.

I guess after seeing everything he did, it's just.

You know. I want nothing to do with him but what he gave me isn't going to go away.

You must have met plenty of people with powers here though. Do they seem that way?

Wanting nothing to do with him sounds like wanting nothing to do with yourself as well. Or the part that came into contact with him. I don't think learning to use your powers will give him victory or power over you.

I don't know how many people like yourself exist in your world, but there probably are plenty if this is a normal occurrence of sorts. They probably see the same things you do. It seems like a dangerous cycle.

Well, no. But most of them didn't get their powers from the same person who tried to kill them and all their friends.

Yeah, I figured as much which is why I don't really know what to do.

Really don't want to up with the whole villainous cackle or mustache twirl if you know what I mean.

I imagine the fear is the same though

Powers don't make the person. Powers only unlock potential. Do you think you have the potential to be a villain?

from what I've seen so far, I think everyone does.

Perhaps.

But you didn't answer my question. Do you think you could be one? Because if you do, it's not the powers that are making you do that. It would be on you.

I'd like to say no.

but it's hard to tell. There are signs everywhere, you know? the fact that they're from him, the fact my alternate self was evil.

I keep thinking it'll happen to me, that I'll lose sight of what matters.

What were the signs?

I guess him saying what he said, about my 'path to greatness' or something just as creepy

and the earth-2 me being evil. I mean. other than that, I never really wanted to hurt anyone except for this really stupid dick I used to work with but I'm pretty sure anyone would have wanted to give him a mild electric shock.

Then use yourself as your guidelines. You know what you want, what you care about, what kind of person you'd like to be.

Why not?

It's like having an extra pair of hands. You're still in control. It's not as though your hands tell you what to do, what to be.

If it helps, we all get "freaked" out at the beginning.

My powers made me question my sanity for years before I learned control. How you feel is part of the process. It never comes easily and it shouldn't.

But it sounds like you want to learn and that's the best step to take.
