I'm not sure how to ask this... [But she needs to otherwise she is going to spend ages flying shuttles around the fleet.] How many people from my...universe?...are present? It's not as easy as I thought it would be to keep in contact and I've been working on schematics...

[Well that explains the ink wiped carelessly on one of her cheeks.]

[He's still feeling off about Barriss and Phasma leaving in a way he can't quite put his finger on. Either way, he doesn't like it.

But he does know he's pleased with the pilot's departure.]

I'm not sure anymore. I haven't kept track recently.

[He hadn't seen Obi-Wan or any of the other Jedi around recently. With any luck, Obi-Wan got lost in the forest and would be stuck there.]

[He doesn't sound nearly as upset as her, but maybe that is self-control. ~~But he worries her at times like this. How can he be so composed? So...cold?~~]

I should have been. [Between piloting, learning about ships (especially the wreckage on the planet they visited) and trying to tap into her...Force...skills, the time has flown by.] He was my friend and...I liked Barriss.

[He knew he couldn't afford to get upset at Barriss and Phasma leaving. It would only leave him more vulnerable than he could afford.]

Barriss was...interesting. Certainly not what I would expect of a Jedi. [No, he missed her and it was a strange, uncomfortable feeling.]

[Emotions aren't a vulnerability for her. She doesn't hide her tears from him or the way she curls up against one of her ship's walls.]

I don't think you can be make broad assumptions about any group.

Tears aren't going to change anything.

[He pointed out, but tears made him uncomfortable in emotional situations. He has no intention of being comforting, not that he even knew how to begin with that.]

They are still gone.

There's nothing wrong with tears if you love someone. [She wipes at them with the heel of her hand.] What about...Captain Phasma? Do you miss her?

Tears don't help them.

[He was quiet for a moment, considering her question.] It was nice to have her around, she and I have the same goals. However, I have to be realistic and I understand that she is needed back in our home galaxy than she is here.

But they help you deal with...losing them. Missing them. [Her nose wrinkles.] You make it sound like nothing matters to you but your goals. What if they don't work out?

We're all needed back...there.

I am realistic and practical. I cannot afford to get emotional and attached. As a general, that could easily compromise what I have to do, compromise my command or compromise what I must do.

That is how I have always done things, that doesn't change here.

You're not a General here. [Which won't make him happy, she knows.] We're all on the same playing field. Besides, I saw another General mourn the loss of...someone close to her. She seemed so strong for doing it.

I may not have my star destroyer or army here but I am always a General of the First Order.

Being an officer of the First Order or the Empire isn't something learned in the academy to be set aside whenever it's convenient, it's a part of me and always will be.

There are many things I had to sacrifice along the way.

The child you met had to be left behind in order to survive. I learned a valuable lesson that day that allowing emotions to get the best of me did absolutely nothing.

[He trailed off then, not sure what to say. No one had ever spoken to him like this before.]

I don't want to trouble you. [She is curled up against a wall, knees drawn to her chest.] Do you like to sing?

It's no trouble for a friend. {Fingon speaks gently, though he's already decided to go to her so he's heading for the shuttles.}

I do! I love music. My cousin Maglor helped me get a new stringed instrument once I got here and I have been practicing with it. Are you on the Bloodsport?

I'm lucky to have you for a friend. [Not that she didn't know that already.] What does it look like?

[She blinks and smiles faintly.] Yeah. Be careful?

Rey. [ a beat; his brows knit together for a second ] It isn't always the worst feeling either. It's not as loud, but it's still there. It's still with you.

I half think that feeling kept me going on Jakku. I hoped my family would return for me because of that...light.

[Deep down, Maz had been right. Rey had known the truth for years.]

More than I did when I arrived. I've been practicing fighting daily. Ahsoka had been helping me.

Ahsoka is a good teacher, if you let her be one. My name's Anakin, I was Ahsoka's master. This feeling you're having, it can get complicated to work through on your own. I've handled it with the help of my own master and Ahsoka with me. Would you like me to guide you through it?

You...would do that? [She is taken aback and...touched. Her eagerness to learn has only grown with each lesson.] You're Anakin Skywalker, which makes you Luke's father, right?

[Also known by another name, but that isn't who she sees before her so why bring it up?]

[ he thinks about finn, and the little he got to know the kid. in it, he mentioned rey more than once. it feels only right that he extends the same hand to her. though he doesn't feel like he needs to elaborate more on his relationship to luke. ]

It would be easier to do this in person, can you meet me on the Iskaulit?

I will be there soon! [She is already running for a ship, slipping into the nearest one. After some reconfigurations, she sets it up so he can still see her while she flies.]

I'll be there soon. [Especially with how she is flying. Rey docks the ship, grabs her communicator and races to the art room, a little breathless as she slides to a halt in front of the door. Her hand shakes as she pushes it open.]

anakin stands in the middle of the entry way and shrugs, lip curled in a half smile. ]

Anakin. What else would you be calling me?

[Rey has power - more than she knows - but it is raw. Untouched. She has learned a few tricks on her own, so there is hope she could progress with the right guidance.

She smiles shyly, cheeks a little red.]

I didn't know if you had a...title...you preferred. [Some people are picky about that sort of thing.]

[ he huffs a small laugh and pulls up a stool - same kind as the one he was sitting on before she came in - for her to sit on. ]

I'm no one here but Anakin. And you're no one to me but Rey. That sounds fair, doesn't it?

[ he tease: ] Or do you want me to call you by a title?
