[It's been a month of loss for the Windrose. We've lost Ordis, Tenno, and now our captain The Vision. We could probably use some visitors and ship togetherness.]

No way around it? [It doesn't sound like anything Wrath would choose for herself. Maybe that's just because Kitty can't imagine choosing it.]

I don't know? [If she did know, she probably wouldn't have a bunch of gaping holes in her memory. Or maybe she still would. She still doesn't know if she volunteered for this or not.]

Sure. Well, you're not there now. [And whatever Wrath's feelings might be on that Kitty is pretty firmly in the court of "don't go back" if you can help it.]

Yeah. I don't ever want to go back. I just wish all my friends were here with me, because this is a way better place. And I miss them.

Maybe we'll figure out a way to do that. And give us more control over this place. [Here's hoping.]

That would be the best, I think. Because if we weren't trapped, this would be a great place to live. Like... getting sent home feels like a really nasty threat, actually.

Hard to disagree with that. I mean it's also a death threat for me, but even if it wasn't... [If it wasn't she would have gone back anyway because that's where her team is. But now that she's met Kurt and heard the end of the story and the hopelessness that comes, it feels like it's over. Like there's nothing left for anyone. He said as much.] Not exactly the best place to be.

Yeah... that really sucks. [Being from somewhere that bad.] Hopefully we can stay, then. And we'll figure stuff here out eventually, I bet. You're really smart. I think we're going to be an effective team.

Thanks. I think so about the effective team anyway. [Okay, she thinks she's smart, but it's an odd thing to agree with.]

So you know, the plan in as much as it can be a plan is that Winn and I and anyone else involved try to find a way to move ourselves between worlds so we can get back to his.

That sounds like a really good idea. I think if we ever find a way out of here, I'm supposed to go with Charles since he said I can help him out. It'll be good to be useful.

Yeah, I think that world would probably be good for you from what I know of it. As much as any at least. [More than hers and more than the one Wrath is from.]

It'll be weird to live in the stone age, but I bet I'll still manage to have fun. And if Erik's around, he knows how to fix my augments and artificial replacements if I get broken.

They might be a little beyond stone, and he does have a very useful skill set. [Slightly visibly uncomfortable when Erik's name comes up.]

I don't know, people have babies in their bodies and stuff back then, so... [But honestly? Talking about Erik makes her happy, because he's her friend and he's awesome. Though she's wondering what Kitty's deal is...] I used to think he didn't like me but he's really nice.

[Frown.] Do you and Erik not get along?

[She looks downward.]

[She isn't sure how to parse this.]

Oh god! [So surprised and alarmed and a little bit amused but still mostly the first two.]

No! No, no, no...no! [She has more no's in her. She's trying to make other words happen.] He's like my... [No she doesn't want to say that either. She doesn't want to say he's like her father because it just illustrates how badly she keeps people separated from home to here. Sometimes it's easier than others. Plus...she never really let herself feel like Logan or Erik was that to her. Family, but she never wanted to take a specific place away from her parents even if they were gone.]

He joined Apocalypse. The person who had my parents killed. [Pause] A version of the person... [And "had them killed" sounds a little too much like he targeted them specifically, but her parents are dead because of him. She doesn't need to get into the details.]

[pain_train]

Oh! Okay, sorry.

[She listens. She knows what Erik has told her about the Apocalypse thing, and has her own theories. But it's not her job here to try to defend or explain for him. That's his job, if he chooses to do it.]

[She falls silent for a moment, thinking.]

I've... kind of got some stuff in common with Erik. But I think mostly he reminds me of Envy. So much that it freaks me out sometimes, though at least they don't look anything alike.

[She should clarify that.]

Envy was my old battle partner.

[He's been opting out of defending himself pretty hard. It might actually be a good strategy with Kitty—not that it's a strategy. It's still just going to take some time though. A little over a month from now before she really tries to let it go. She nods. It doesn't bother her if Wrath is close with him and she definitely understands how it is when someone reminds you of someone you miss.]

Yeah. I get that.

...There's an Erik back home. Not the same person exactly, but same name, same powers, some of the same past. All that. [She assumes Wrath is familiar with the concept.] He's our leader against Apocalypse.

The one here built my claws for me. [She tucks back some hair. She wants to hate him and she can't quite get there. She also doesn't want to hate him or lose him but she can't quite forgive him.]

Ah. That's got to be really weird. It's hard to try to be fair when there's so much other stuff. And Erik's got his own shit already, so that doesn't help either.
