[It's been a month of loss for the Windrose. We've lost Ordis, Tenno, and now our captain The Vision. We could probably use some visitors and ship togetherness.]

Her potions are great, they're how I'm not still hungover from Halloween.

[ he's exaggerating for affect but, they did save him the next day. but he shakes his head. ]

Jim offered it months ago...[ not specifically hermione, but the idea of taking something to put him to sleep ] I don't like being out of it, if something happens in the middle of the night I want to be able to wake up.

Maybe you'd still be able to? Would you talk to her to find out more about it? I can understand not wanting to be in that position where you can't get up for focus. I mean, I'd look out for you, but I understand. I wouldn't be able to do it either.

I can talk to her.

[ he's not making any promises but if there's anyone he trusts with this - it's hermione. ]

You know, back home I'm a really good sleeper. Sometimes on the weekend I sleep til noon, just cuz I can.

[She's good with just the promise to talk to her about it.]

You are? [She honestly hadn't realized this and it makes it all that much more concerning.] What is it about being here?

[winn]

[ there are a lot of things about being here like - not having a set schedule, for example. but that just excuses him not sleeping at night, if that was all he'd catch up on it during the day. which he does, sometimes, but never completely, never enough. ]

I just can't turn my brain off. [ he shrugs. he's too concerned, what if while he sleeps, kitty gets taken away? he has to figure out a way home. he has to. ]

Oh, Winn. [She kisses his temple.] I love your brain, but I kind of want to give it a good shake. [She's not going to do that.] I didn't realize this wasn't just...you. [He's right about them getting to know each other better.] I'm sorry.

[winn]

For what, you're not keeping me up. [ well, she is but not on purpose.

he kisses her cheek. ]

It's me when I get working on something. It's college finals me.

College finals don't last months at a time. You need sleep. It would probably help with your projects too. [Nuzzling.] And I'm sorry I didn't ask. I didn't realize.

[winn]

I know, I'm not doing this on purpose.

[ it was his first fight with jim - the guy kept telling him to sleep and he kept arguing that he can't. ] You couldn't. [ and it's one of his biggest fears about going home - her meeting his national city self. ] It's really fine.

I know you aren't. [Stroking his hair.] You're handling a hard thing as well as you can. That doesn't make it fine, but sometimes it's all you can do.

[winn]

Sorry my best isn't up to par.

[ he loves being around superheroes, they make him better and they're awesome. but they're terrible for his self esteem when he's struggling. ]

[She pulls back to look at him more fully.] Hey, no. That's not it. This isn't on you.

[winn]

[ he's thinking of the other things that are different back home now. they're kinda on him, will she be so forgiving of those? ]

You should sleep, I keep disturbing you. [ he kisses her forehead. ] I can sing you a lullaby?

You're not disturbing me. I love every minute I get with you. [She smiles and nods though. She does like his voice.]

[ he strokes her hair and thinks for a moment before starting to sing softly ]

[This is where she's supposed to drift off to sleep, right? Instead she's just listening and enjoying his touch and his voice. She doesn't know the song but that doesn't matter.]

I especially am slow [ a little chuckle, well, relative to her he is. ]
But I realize that I need you [ another soft kiss to the top of her head ]

[ that last verse, he could've written if he wrote songs. ]

[She knows, or assumes, he is singing existing songs and not things he wrote himself, but there are some lines that really hit. Whether it's something he wrote or just something he chose it feels real. So, she's definitely still awake by the end, listening to every word before she leans in to kiss him at the end of the song.]

[ he tries to pick songs that are appropriate. of course, since the goal was to get her to sleep maybe this one was a bad choice but uh well, watchu gonna do, can't win 'em all and so forth.

at least they're not talking about any more of his depressing feelings.

[Kissing feels like a pretty good use of being awake at least? And she'd rather he fall asleep than her. Not that both isn't an excellent option! But if they can't have that then making him feel loved and wanted works for her too. And while she's not afraid to use her words for that sometimes the physical attention feels like the more natural route. She's always been a very tactile, active person.]

[ and he's been starved for physical attention for most of his life, so it's something he still desperately craves.

besides, making him feel loved, wanted, and comfortable is a pretty good way to shut his brain up and make him sleep, whereas words just add fuel to the fire. ]
