[It's been a month of loss for the Windrose. We've lost Ordis, Tenno, and now our captain The Vision. We could probably use some visitors and ship togetherness.]

["That we know of," he wants to say. But that feels like rubbing salt on an already-open wound, so he doesn't bother.]

I guess not. I hope - if he goes home - that his Operator knows how much he loves them.

Oh he was here too. Tenno? I didn't know him as well though.

Guess the Windrose is bad luck, huh?

I wouldn't say that, so much as... Shuffles don't choose who they sweep. One month it's the Caprine, next it's the Windrose, and hey, even the Paisley did its time.

[He squeezes her hand.]

It's got nothing to do with you or your ship.

[mistyday]

I know. It's just...

[She sighs.]

Sometimes I hate them so much. Atroma. They stuck Ordis in a body he don't belong in and Castle hasn't seen his daughter in forever and they made Winter... well you know. But then I'd still be trapped in Hell if it wasn't for them and... other people would be dead or they'd be hunted. So I can't hate them, not totally.

You know, I wonder if they can't control who they bring in.

[Jennifer's talked about it sometimes, but always in the context of 'why her.' Stefan hasn't tried to connect the pieces until now, and he could be off-base.

He also thinks he may be onto something.]

Because if they could, maybe it wouldn't feel so random.

[mistyday]

But if they're not doin' it, who is?

[stefanged]

No, I mean - Atroma's still pulling people. They just can't control who they pull in.

[mistyday]

[She frowns, not quite able to picture it.]

I don't think I understand.

[stefanged]

Okay, so - imagine they want people for their reality show. But imagine that their tech is flawed, or not quite working right.

So they can pull people from say, Earth, but they can't control what city or even what time period. [He pulls back long enough to make hand gestures,] You end up with people like you and me, or people like Allen who're from the 19th century.

[mistyday]

Okay, yeah. Like when I was still learning my telekinesis and sometimes I'd move the wrong thing. Except they're pretending that's what they meant to do all along.

[She considers this for a moment.]

So do you think they can't control when we leave either? That the technology is screwed up on that end too?

[stefanged]

[Huh. Stefan tilts his head to the side.]

You know, I hadn't actually considered that part. It's possible? If they can't control when they bring people, then they sure can't control when they leave. [beat] If they lack control, anyway.

At this point, I've got a lot more questions than answers.

[mistyday]

Either way, guess there ain't much we can do about it.

[She sighs, then moves closer to him for more proper cuddling.]

I'm just so scared of losing you.

[stefanged]

[He can't say if she will or she won't. He wishes he could, because it would be easier than snuggling and praying that everything will turn out alright.

So, instead he says - ] I'm scared too. But inshallah, I'll be here as long as I can.

[mistyday]

I know.

[She turns around to be his little spoon. She's trying not to cry again but if she does, it's easier, facing away.]

Can we just... sit for a little while and listen to Stevie?

[stefanged]

Yeah. Whatever you need.

[He leans in, resting his head on her shoulder and wrapping his arms around her tight. While they can't truly forget the transience of their Fleet, they can pretend for a little longer. So Stefan closes his eyes and listens, and for a moment, lets them be transported elsewhere.]

[mistyday]

[After a time, Misty closes her eyes too, and, wrapped in the safe comfort of Stefan's arms and Stevie's voice, soon falls asleep.]
