I'm not technically supposed to- back then I certainly had hardly anything like it. But I've lived around humans long enough to figure out how to make a certain kind of free will, all of my own.

It's not exactly fake. It just...requires a little more effort than the kind that comes naturally to mortals. I learned from watching them, really. Applying it, and so on.

Yes, well... I feel a bit overshadowed now. A mere eighty thousand livesdoesn't hold a candle to what you're responsible for, after all. Ahh, now I understand what it means to be a frog in a well... Or a fox in a well, I suppose.

I imagine it would be more of a bugger to be a fox in a well than a frog. Least a frog can breathe underwater.

I prefer snakes myself, but I suppose I'll allow the fox thing, present company considered.

Of course! In my youthful indiscretions, I went on a rampage and killed eighty thousand with my own hands. But you, in one action, dwarfed that number, and it grows still every day, with every action humans take. Ahhh, it's regrettable, but I suppose that's the difference between a natural-born demon, and one who has simply had the title forced upon her. To think I thought my story might impress, I should go home with my tail between my legs!

[She sounds genuinely disappointed, really.]

Yeah well, I wouldn't bother. I haven't really done all that much to harm mortals since then.

Well, now that my thunder has been thoroughly stolen, I suppose there's nothing left for it but to drink.
