[When the feed turns on, it’s focused on... so many Christmas sweaters laying on a bed. There are more, hidden beneath those four and out of view of the camera; from what can be seen, it looks like there are at least three or four more. The camera swings around to two girls, one of whom has the most deadpan look on her face.]

[The other one just looks kind of confused.]

I’m pretty sure this is another Earth reference or something that I’m missing here. What the fuck is wrong with Earth?

There are many things wrong with Earth, and all of them are a long story. Don’t worry about it. Anyways, the point is that someone should come here and take these away because every single one is kind of the worst thing ever? Save us.

Either that or we can throw them out into space. That’s an option too. There’s a sun nearby to hurl these into, right?

[She sounds dead serious about this.]

...Maybe we should at least see if anyone wants them before we toss them into a sun? [But, she smiles.] I am totally saving shoving them out of an airlock as a plan B, though. Thank you for that.

[She glances back at the camera for a moment, though, giving the feed a Look.]

Seriously, though, get these far enough away that I never have to see them again.

Is magic all the rage back home?

"All the rage" is kind of a weird way of putting it? Like, it's what I specialize in, so I like it, but... A lot of people used it? I took classes in junior high and high school for battle tactics and magic, so.

Is war common? [It took over her world, but there were never classes on it. She wonders if it would have changed things if there had been.]

War? No, we haven't had a war in about five hundred years? The Tyrfing War pretty much ended them for good.

But you still study battle tactics?

... Yeah? War may be over, but it's not like monsters stopped existing, or anything.

I never think of the monsters. [Because there are no monsters back home. Well...no monsters who aren't also people.]

I always forget you don't have them. We have wards and shit around the city to keep the monsters away, but the idea of not having any at all is kind of...

Yeah. I mean, I was an adventurer at home, so...

Yeah, I think we all feel that about something in a place like this. Things we just take for granted or consume a lot of our thoughts just aren't part of other lives. It's weird.

Yeah. It's not as bad as the shock when I found out other worlds didn't have save points, or any race but humans, but... I guess that's what they call culture shock.

We have other races, but they tend to avoid Earth. What are save points?

[She sighs, like she's clearly expecting some kind of negative reaction.]

They're a special sort of place that exist in my world. They sort of... record you, I guess? If you use a save point, and then you get killed, you're resurrected at the save point a little later, a little weaker, but overall in the exact same condition as when you saved.

...Like a video game? [A comparison she may not have reached back in her early day memories to draw if not for the gamer boyfriend.]

[... right. Deep breaths. She takes a moment to try to calm herself back down.]

Sorry. I just... I get that a lot, when I tell people about my world.

Yeah. [She imagines a lot of people have that reference point.] I've heard a lot of strange things. People who know others from movies or comic books [Talking about herself there.] or whatever it is. It doesn't make any of us any less real or people.
