Hi. So, this is not what I was expecting today. [He was expecting some additional rest and recovery after the last few days. Instead, he feels mysteriously good as new.] I'd just heard some great things about Netflix, and I was looking forward to chilling with it. [Someone may have missed giving him the full explanation and context of that phrase. Ooooor maybe they didn't.]

I am getting tired of being the one who always gets abducted. Winn and Alex could take turns too. Just saying.

[A soft sigh. He's staying in pretty good spirits despite everything, but he's wondering if this is doing him any good.] Is anyone even listening to this?

[And just in case someone is.] My name is Mon-El.

[Oh, wait.]

So...you don't remember me either. [He's pretty sure Cadmus and his name didn't just slip Winn's mind. He does manage to latch on to the last question asked at least.]

It's not long after your Thanksgiving. The year is 2016. [Feeling more alone than he did before he saw people he recognized. Did something happen to them? He should probably listen to that recording.]

There's the problem -- see, I'm from February, so, unless we're already supposed to know each other in which case - you're probably from an alternate dimension and I'm not your world's Winn - I haven't met you yet. [ he sees that loneliness, recognizes it from his own face in the mirror. he doesn't know what he is to this guy, but if kara wouldn't have recognized him when he first got here, he'd be crushed. ] You're gonna need to fill me in.

No, I crash landed more recently. I guess that means you're Winn from the past?

[He takes a breath.] I'm Mon-El from Daxam. It's a planet near Krypton. Or near where Krypton was I guess. Anyway, I've been staying at the DEO and helping out sometimes. Or getting thrown around when Kara trains me. [Weak smile.]

I brought the stuffing to Thanksgiving. [Well, he brought a kind of stuffing.]

[ ok. so this guy knows about the deo, he knows about kara. those are good signs, right? he's already giving himself a headache. ]

Or you're...Mon-El, I'm guessing I use? From the future. [ NOW LET'S GET DOWN TO THE REAL BUSINESS AT HAND! ] So what're your powers? [ he has to have them, or kara wouldn't need to be the one to train him. logic! ] Are you like a Kryptonian?

Kara thought it would be good if I had an Earth identity. She named me Mike. I don't really use it much. I stopped wearing the glasses too.

Like a prissy, uptight Kryptonian? No. [Sorry. He's just rubbed a little wrong by all of this.] I'm strong and fast and harder to hurt. It still keeps happening though. [Bullet to the leg. Medusa virus. It's basically his role on the team to hang out in the infirmary, right?] I can't fly. [But if you need someone to clear some serious distance with a leap he's your guy.]

[ he happens to love...certain kryptonians a whole lot! ]

Do you have powers on your home planet, or are they predicated on environment?

[ he wants to ask if they're solar powered buuuut if he doesn't know about the source of kara's powers, he sure as hell isn't going to out her! ]

[He's pretty fond of certain krytponians when they aren't reducing him to all his worst qualities.]

Hmm? [What strange phrasing, drinking buddy.] No, it's the sun here. Or on Earth. I guess that means I'm not going to have them much longer.

[ because if he did, he'd know winn isn't the kind of guy to let being trapped in space keep him from restoring superpowers.

it may be a sign that he shouldn't. if he's playing some sort of game...he wishes there was some easy way to know for sure whether or not he could trust him.

(besides asking the psychic he hasn't really talked to for months and has always kinda creeped him out).

then again, it could be a sign of absolutely nothing. who back home really knows him? ]

[That's actually not an unfair statement, but there was bro bonding!] I know you're fun at bars. I hear we even have one and that I can't get to it.

[ fun at bars. it's not usually the first thing people think about him, especially not back home.

it makes him smile. he really hopes this guy isn't up to anything because he's loving the idea of another (superpowered) friend. ]

Only for a couple days. But if your physiology is anything like Kryptonians that's not gonna do anything for you, you should my super brew. [ or well, once it's tested. ] How long have you known me?

[Hey, just because he has secrets doesn't mean he's up to anything! Maybe.]

Super brew? I knew there was a reason you were my favorite. [Okay, that's probably Kara, but Winn was always the easier sell. That counts for something, right?]

About a month? [Asking as if Winn can even clarify.]

[ he's gotta give you a hard time on that one, it was a dick move. ]

[Oh you caught that part, huh?] Hey, I'm on my third in a month. I'd help Kara rescue you if you did?

[ it was kind of impossible to miss. ]

Wow, thank you. [ dry, so dry. he doesn't have powers, he doesn't even have alex's training. if he gets abducted by someone who wants to do him harm, he's done for. ] Very reassuring coming from someone who keeps getting caught. That Cadmus thing have anything to do with it?

[ he did not forget his previous questions. ]

[He doesn't really want it to happen. Having powers is still kind of new to him too.] They were number two. DEO was the first, but that was more of a misunderstanding.

The DEO's more about containment. Did you give them a reason to think you're a threat? [ because he's getting that feeling that you could casually accidentally -- do that. ]

Well, I woke up in a strange place and broke out and went to find a way to signal home. Meanwhile, someone who was definitely not me was out doing bad things. They thought it was me.

So that's less an abduction and more being detained as part of an ongoing investigation. What was the other one?

I mean...one person's detainment can be another person's abduction. [Especially when you don't know any Earth laws yet.] These Atroma could be saying the same, right? [They're not, but they could be.]

The other one was now. This is three.

They could but they'd be wrong - DEO is trying to keep people safe, the Atroma are making a reality show.

[ supposedly, he's still not sure he buys that. but whatever. ]

I meant two, you still haven't told me what Cadmus is.

It's a group who really doesn't like having aliens on Earth and they work pretty hard to do something about it.

[ okay that...sounds like a proper traumatizing kidnapping. yeah, he definitely gets a softer and more sympathetic look and tone at that. ]

Sucks for them, it'll amount to nothing. [ he believes in kara, he believes in alex, he believes in hank (he's pretty scared of him and they're on the same side) and he believes that if things get dire - kara will be okay with calling superman, and he's always believed in him.

oh, and he's pretty handy too. ]

[He smiles at that. Good show of confidence, Winn.] So far you're right. [His expression dims thinking of those bodies on the floor in the bar though.] Mostly right. [A very important correction.]

How does this work? Am I supposed to be keeping the future secret?

[ how can he not? he's already dying of curiosity. and if they do manage to bust out...hey, he'll already be changing the timeline by adding people who weren't there. ]

[Does that mean there would eventually be two Mon-El's? Is there enough ale in National City for that?]

That's easy for you to say. What if I'm the one who doesn't exist because of it? [Then he'd probably deserve it anyway.]
