Who: Okita Souji, the new kid in town, and you!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: SS Golden crew
When: December 11th
Voice;
[There's a few moments of silence and low humming as the speaker figures out how this whole communicator thing works. There's a quiet "Ah!" and then the message begins. The voice is either a low pitched female or a higher pitched male, and there is little in the way of images to make it clear which is which. Fun times.]
I really wonder who would find it that fascinating to watch other people live their lives, but I suppose in space [That is still SO weird to say] you must not get a lot of other entertainments. I've read the guide on your network, buuuuut, well. It's a little dry, don't you think?
So why don't you tell me what would you say is the most important thing to know about being here? For example, this "e-lec-tri-city" thing is very useful. It's nice to be able to see so well, even if it's very, very bright all the time. And this little pocket communication thing is cute. What do you think?
Action for the SS Golden
[Once he's out from the bathroom he got locked in - thanks Handsome Jack - Okita spends some time acquainting himself with his new ship. Aka, he spends time slinking around and finding all the weird nooks and crannies in which he can hide stuff, himself, or possibly...other "stuff" in case it's necessary. Crewmates can find him anywhere on the ship wearing a white kimono and opening up vents and peering under cabinets, tapping on wall panels and trying to break into places he probably shouldn't go. All of this before he ever introduces himself, because hahaha manners.
What are those?]

[ Who knew that building a small army of robot cats could be such a time sink? Aoko sure hadn't, up until recently. ]
Sorry to have startled you!
no subject
What are you making?
no subject
Kind of? But, uhm, not exactly. Not unless you count rice ball animals as crafting. [ There's another shuffle, metal on metal, and the soft rustle of cloth. ] But, since I got drafted in as my ship's engineer, I thought I'd better learn a thing or two.
[ There's a beat, and then: ]
I'm making mechanical cats.
no subject
So you're an engineer and the cook? Fascinating!
Could I have a rice ball animals one day? That sounds really cute!
no subject
[ She laughs again, fuller this time, bright and warm. ]
Sure, I'd love to! Help me find some rice and pick your favorite animals, and I'll make you a whole bunch!
no subject
[Since he doesn't know if his ship has a cook or not yet.]
I like grumpy pigs. But I'll have to look for rice. Is it difficult to find?
no subject
Grumpy … grumpy pigs, huh. [ Oh, no. Oh no. Her thoughts flash unbidden to a certain somebody, and she only barely manages not to laugh all over again. ] Okay! I can do that for you. But … mmn, it can be difficult. The place the Fleet's stopped at might have some, though.
no subject
[He has no idea what else to call that thing. He's never seen or heard of anything like it, and the augment only covers so much.]
I'll see if I can find anything. If I do, I'd like to take lessons from you. We can make grumpy pigs together then.
no subject
Sounds great! I'll be looking forward to it. [ There's a brief pause, before – ] Ah! I should introduce myself, too … I'm Aoko! Nakamori Aoko. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
Ah and yes! My name is-- Soujirou. It's nice to meet you, Aoko-san.
no subject
Soujirou-san is Japanese, as well? [ There's no way he could be from her Japan, or at least, not from her period of time. But it's an exciting thought anyway. ]

It's just, I couldn't even tell you how long it's been since somebody last used an honorific with my name! It might sound weird, but I've missed it.
no subject
[aka that is how he feels 99% of the time here.]
Well, if you'd ever like to talk about our homeland, I've been told I'm very good at making tea.
no subject
[ Oh, Soujirou, you have no idea. Aoko laughs quietly, pressing her hand over her mouth. ]
Something like that, mmm. I'm sorry; it's not you I was laughing at. [ It's more the thought of just how far away from home she's come, literally and figuratively. And then, earnestly: ]
I'd love to drink tea with you, anytime you want. Do you like sweet things?
no subject
His smile brightens the instant she mentions sweets.]
Do you have any? I haven't had any decent sweets since I arrived.
no subject
Want some?
[ Never let it be said that she's not generous, even with strangers she literally just met. ]
no subject
If you don't mind sharing, I would love to try some.
no subject
Great! [ And yet, for all that she can be exasperated when a certain annoying boyfriend of hers sticks both of his hands in the proverbial cookie jar, she actually really enjoys getting to share with people. ] Anytime you want is fine by me. Just let me know!
[ And this is how the best of friendships are born. ]
no subject
Of course. Once I find some rice, I'll be sure to let you know, Aoko-san.
