[Finwë is very careful with using one hand to use the communicator since there is small sleeping Elf child asleep against him.

There is sorrow in his gaze and in his smile, his hushed tone is heavy.]

It seems I have fallen asleep for a time though I am not sure for how long. When I woke, it seems one of my grandsons have reverted in age- [He looked down at the sleeping Elfling with a fond smile before continuing softly.] -something which I cannot say I can complain about though I hope he does not suffer.

[He shifts Fingon slightly, not wanting to wake him.]

Have any here fallen asleep and then woken with new memories? It seems almost as if it were a dream but I felt as if I had experienced it so vividly.

[He paused, making sure Fingon hadn't woken up before giving a smile, his voice very quiet.]

And please, no loud noises. I would hate to wake my grandson.

[Once Fingon is awake and with another of his grandsons, Finwë took the chance to get up and stretch, to see if anything had changed and to check on the others in the crew.]

Kano and I sang to one another as we watched the stars. (Which sounds ridiculously romantic, but it had been a reminder of when Kano was a baby.)

I must have looked ridiculous, pouting by your bed, then. But I refused to move.

I am glad. Kano would do anything for you. [He was happy that his grandsons had each other here, away from everything.]

I have never doubted how much you love your grandfather.

He has done too much; it is time I did anything for him. (His heart and spirit find peace in the company of his kin. He wonders if they feel the same in his presence.)

What is not to love? Your heart has been open to me since my first memories.

You were my first grandson, I remember when you were born and catching you up in my arms.

[It had been a magical moment, knowing that something so precious was a part of him.]

And when you smiled up at me, well, I knew I couldn't help but love my precious Maitimo forever. You have the same smile.

I recall your voice and your arms. You felt safe to me and kind. Kano can hear the music of Arda and the Valar too perhaps, but I cannot. I can only sense Light and Shadow.

(Finwë's Light is pure. Little Elflings are drawn to that and eager to nestle in it.)

I always have a smile for you.

You always have had a sharp eye. He has his music, and you look out for everyone. I was astounded what a perceptive child you were. You always knew what someone needed before anyone else.

[And he was proud of his grandson being so kind and thoughtful even as a small child.]

I am truly blessed then. And you always have my love.

Ammë said I was made to be the eldest; that I was made to have my brothers following my footsteps.

(His smile is sad and his eyes are unfocused.)

I do not agree that I am a blessing to you or...Finno...or Kano for that matter. My heart belongs to you - always - yet my failures are many and extensive. I should be imprisoned.

You are still a blessing to all of us here. I don't know what I would do without you.

[He laid a hand on his grandson's cheek, wanting him to listen.]

I am fortunate to have such a wonderful, loving grandson like you. I wouldn't trade you for anyone or anything in existence. I know your brother and cousin feel the same.

I thought you would have been better...once...without me. (That is a shameful admission and he hugs the slumbering Fingon a little tighter.) As I hung from the Thangorodrim, I felt I had earned my torment.

(The hand makes his eyelids flutter shut.)

Do I deserve such blessings?

Never think that again, Maitimo. I couldn't imagine being without you. [He knew that was what it would have to be when he returned to their world, he knew he wouldn't be the better for it but Miriel deserved time with her children and grandchildren.]

I never liked being without you either, Grandfather. (There is something in Finwë's tone that makes him focus on him sharply.) I had to believe we would meet again as a family.

Even if we cannot be physically together, I know I always care a little part of you within me. And I will always be with you, Nelyo, never doubt that. [He couldn't lie to his grandson but at the same time, he couldn't bear to tell him the truth, not yet.]

(He looks confused by those words.) I...have lost the right to be reunited with you, but my brothers might...have not. Do not lose hope.

No, we are better for having you with us, Maitimo. You've always been my protector. Even when you were a baby.

[And it was the most precious thing. He thought his little redhaired grandson would try to pick up his sword if he had to.]
